Chapter 11
For anyone wondering "Di" is pronounced like "die" not like the D in the alphabet :)
~~~
"Diana?"
I slowly opened my eyes to my mother. She was dressed in a robe and her eyes looked sad.
"Yeah?" I asked, rubbing my hands over my face.
"There's somebody here to see you." She sadly whispered, walking off.
I sat up and pulled my comforter off. I rummaged through my dresser until I found one of my old sweaters that had been too big since 8th grade. I pulled it on over my tank top and left my leggings on.
I walked down the stairs and looked around for a guest.
"Hi Diana."
I knew who it was before I turned around and I could feel my face fall. Had it been three days already?
"Liam." I greeted. I took a few tentative steps over to him and crossed my arms.
"I'm leaving today." He said, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
"Yeah I know." I replied.
"It kind of sucks the way things ended between us." He sighed.
"Yeah but at least I'm not bawling and hanging onto your leg to try and keep you here." I laughed.
"It's better then sharing a tour bus with four other guys and one bathroom." Liam said, laughing along.
"Well I wish you could stay but I can't keep you from your dream." I shrugged.
"I'll visit you I promise." He whispered, taking my hands in his.
"Soon?" I asked.
"As soon as possible." He answered.
A horn honked from outside but Liam completely ignored it.
"I would have never though I would fall for you, your purple hair and rude comments, but I did." He said, a small smile spreading across his features.
"I probably wouldn't even know you if it weren't for Sam and Caroline as much as I hate to admit it."
Liam had somehow managed to open me up. I was like that tough clam to crack and yet he did it effortlessly. Even though we broke up, I was going to miss him so much. I wasn't ready for him to leave yet.
"Liam, come on man." Some guy said, popping his head into the living room.
"Okay I'll be right there." Liam answered.
"I love you." I mumbled, wrapping my arms around him in a hug.
"I love you too." He replied.
I pulled away and he kissed me one last time.
He held onto my hands until he reached the door and then waved goodbye.
~~~
"Diana?" Cassidy asked, her small fist knocking on my door.
"Yeah Cass?" I replied, finishing my sketch of Liam from a concert a few months back. Nothing wrong with a little inspiration from the internet.
"Mommy and daddy are already asleep and I had a bad dream." She mumbled.
"Okay, come on." I smiled, standing up and pulling back the blankets on my bed.
Cassidy ran and jumped on them, her giggling lost in the pillows.
"Thanks Di." Cass whispered, as I turned my lights off and climbed under the covers with her. "Diana?"
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Who is that boy with the short hair and brown eyes that you like?"
"His name is Liam." I smiled.
"Why did he have to leave?" She yawned.
"He's famous. He sings in a band with his friends and he had to leave to go on tour." I sighed.
I waited for Cassidy to ask another question but nothing came.
~~~
"Come on Diana! You have school!" My mom yelled.
I rolled over and shoved my face in my pillow. I reached my arm over to wake up Cassidy but she wasn't there. She must've gotten up all ready.
I yawned as I drug myself towards the bathroom. I splashed my face with some cold water and my eyes shot open in objection.
I pulled a navy tank top, cream sweater and some jeans out of my closet and changed into them.
"Good morning Di." Cassidy smiled walking in.
"What's for breakfast?" I asked her, pulling my purple hair over to the side and straightening it.
"Mommy made bacon I think." She shrugged.
"Sounds good." I laughed.
"I found this under your pillow last night." She told me, handing me a small piece of folded up paper.
I took the paper from her and saw my name carefully scripted on the front. I unfolded it and read over the words.
Dear Diana,
I've been looking for a way to tell you this but I'm really not sure how. I'm hoping by the time you get this letter you'll know how much I love you, but the problem is: I'm IN love with you.
I know that by the time I get back everything will be different, hell, you might even not have purple hair, but I'm not planning on moving on anytime soon.
I'm in love with you and I can't change a thing about that. You somehow managed to capture my heart in the short few weeks I was here and I wouldn't change anything.
I'm going to miss you so much while I'm gone and I can't wait to get back and see you. Until then, I'm going to send you a letter a week and I'm hoping you'll do the same.
I'll see you when I get back Diana.
Love,
Liam
I felt the my eyes become watery as the letter came to an end. I can't believe he said he was in love with me. It almost seemed impossible.
~~~
"So where's your little boyfriend?" Sam asked me, opening his locker and putting his books inside.
"He left yesterday." I sighed.
I had gone up to Sam a few days ago and told him how I wanted to be friends and fix everything that had been going on. I didn't tell him about Liam because it didn't really seem necessary.
"Left?" He replied, walking with me to first period.
"Yeah he had to go back to London to work on more album things." I said, shrugging.
"Well, he's an idiot to leave you." Sam answered, putting his arm around my shoulders.
"Sam. What about Caroline?" I warily asked, brushing my long hair out of my face.
"I broke up with her this morning." He smiled, turning and standing in front of me.
"Really? That's amazing!" I squealed, wrapping my arms around his neck.
"Yeah it is." He replied, leaning his head down towards mine. His lips grazed my cheek as I turned my head.
"I have to get to class." I mumbled, running off as the late bell rang.
~~~
Liana/Diam is adorable in my eyes...the bad girl...the good boy...very cliche but I love it.
