Prologue
Two cats slunk through the shadows under the cover of night. The stars shined brightly, lighting their path as they walked forward.
They soon reached a small cave and went inside. The inside smelled of fresh rain, and carried the scents of all four clans.
One of the cats, a tortoiseshell tom, took the lead of the other cat, who seemed lost in what they were seeing.
"Come on, we need to finish before the sun rises." the tortoiseshell tom hissed.
"I'm trying but it's too dark in here..." the other figure, a green-gray striped she-cat said.
"That's no excuse, Bugleaf!" the tom hissed. "We must keep moving forward."
The two cats slowly padded forward, wincing every time they stepped in a small puddle of water.
As if on command, a huge moonbeam shined through the roof, lighting the rest of the path. They said nothing to each other as they continued forward.
In front of them stood the Moonstone, glowing as bright as ever.
Bugleaf sniffed the air. Something was off.
"Foxforest, I get the feeling that something is wrong..."
Foxforest soon started to feel that way too. As if icy claws wear slowly tearing his back open, and he couldn't do anything to stop it.
Suddenly, it began to rain. The rainclouds covered the moonstone, making it slowly turn gray.
The two cats then jumped as they heard a cracking sound, as if the entire forest had just collapsed.
Foxforest hissed. "We need to go. Now."
Bugleaf nodded and ran behind him, just as the rocks holding up the roof gave way, covering up the moonstone.
The two cats made it out, and analyzed each other for injuries. They sheltered themselves under a small bush nearby the cave.
"Was that a sign?" Bugleaf asked.
"It might have been..." Foxforest remarked. "It could be a sign saying that the whole forest is in trouble."
