19: This Doesn't Feel Right Anymore
She was right there.
Right in the palm of my hands.
That annoying strawberry blonde girl.
As she walked down the Roseorn streets and poorly decided to take a shortcut through a dark alley, I had every opportunity to kill her. No one would see anything. I planned this whole thing out on my way here. I'd make her disappear as if she was never alive in the first place.
But I couldn't do it.
I let her keep walking towards her destination.
Why am I so off my game today? It's supposed to be easy! Draining the color out of lively irises is supposed to be easy. I'm not supposed to feel anything.
Thinking about how she might be the only person Oliver can talk to at school must've stopped me. Shit, what was I thinking? I can't kill people I know. I can't kill people that know the people I know. It'll get too complicated if I do.
My mind reacted on its own. My body followed her on its own. It's not my doing.
When I staggered out the alleyway, a worn paper floated down in front of my feet.
"DIAMONDBACK: WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE. CASH PRIZE OF ANY REQUESTED AMOUNT FOR THE CITY'S HERO WILL BE PROVIDED BY ROSEORN'S SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH CENTER."
City's hero? So I'm the villain here? Those pricks should be thanking me. I'm doing their overflowing population a huge favor here. And don't even get me started on the unflattering picture they used. I have better angles than Distorted Blurry Bigfoot, y'know. Try harder, people.
This thing about "cash prize," though. That can't be good. If there's one thing that'll capture a busy city's attention, it's money. Damn green dollar brings out the worst in everyone.
Peering out at the streets, these reward signs were plastered everywhere. On buildings, telephone poles, car windshields, the back of babies' strollers. Whoever this scientific research center was must be hellbent on finding me. They might as well give up while they still have the chance. They must be out of their goddamn minds if they think I'll let some stranger kill me before I can figure out how to do it myself.
I better lay low for a few days until things calm down...

A/N: Aaaaand we're back with good ol' Dibby. (Well, "morally ambiguous Dibby" would be a better description) If y'all had somehow managed to capture Dibs as one of the Roseorn citizens, what would you demand as a reward? I'm takin the cash. ;) Don't forget to drop a vote! <3
