Chapter 1: The End

The end.

Blackness surrounded Jaune. The thickness of the air around him threatened to suffocate him as it lay still, stalling and not flowing to any destination. The black, thin, tall purple-eyed figures stood distantly from the bloodied boy, his shoulders rising up and down.

His broken hand gripped the potion of healing so hard it squealed as if being crushed under a hydraulic press. Jaune's eyes, blinded by grime and blood, widened as he gave the darkness a thousand-yard stare, the oh so familiar church bells rang again, heard only by Jaune's mind.

It helped distract him from the gurgles and coughs erupting from his throat.

His purple, enchanted chest plate lay on the ground, cracked and shattered to an unsavable state. His legs buckled, begging for him to fall to the floor and lie there.

He listened.

His legs spread wide in a Y shape, Jaune used his only good limb, his right hand to help support him, his breath now calmed, letting his aching muscles and splitting head touch the cold and rough surface of the endstone. What a fitting name, for it was truly the end.

He laid there, for what felt like hours, staring into the abyss.

A growl was all it took for him to come to his senses, sitting upward, much to the protest of his body, Jaune stared at the foe that put him in this condition.

Its wings were ripped off with inhuman force, its wings cut and crushed under rubble, it lay on its stomach. A black sword sticking out its back, dark purple liquids oozing out of it.

"Are you going to keep lying there? Or are you going to go through the portal?" A deep yet feminine voice came out of the creatures last dying breaths.

Jaune Arc replied, "The portal, where does it take me?" his voice hoarse and exhausted.

"Where do you think?"

"..."

"Notch... He promised you that you would be able to go home by slaying me and jumping in the portal." The dragon coughed.

"...Yes"

"He made me a promise to me, one that the foolish man kept. Despite the fact it would anger his idiotic brother, he let me rule over this entire dimension." The dying oversized lizard grumbled, her voice filled with more exhaustion and acceptance than anger, though her eyes still glared at him.

"And you betrayed him." Jaune Arc, despite his body's circumstances, clenched his fists tightly, blood dripping from his forearms to his knuckles.

"Herobrine threatened to destroy this entire dimension, my child with it as well. I had to."

Jaune looked over to the purple egg that lay in front of the dragon, her body positioned protectively despite the fact she physically wouldn't be able to protect it anymore, not with her body so close to death.

"I'm mad, I'm mad that you caused Notch's death." His name made Jaune clench his eye's shut, hoping to not spill any tears as he talked, his voice, however, showed exactly how he felt.

"But I can't be mad at the fact that you were willing to do it for the sake of someone else's safety. Notch would've understood." His eye's opened, revealing a sad and tired look as he stared into the Ender Dragon's eyes.

He would have been a hypocrite if he said he wouldn't have done it for one of his family members, the ones he missed so much.

The Ender Dragon's once harsh glare had been morphed into a tired, half-closed gaze.

"I don't think you're a bad person."

"Is that why I have a 5-foot long sword embedded into me?" The Dragon weakly grinned with what was left of its teeth.

"I didn't..."

"I don't believe you are a bad person as well. Despite the fact, you stabbed me and ripped my wings to shreds." She paused, before falling into a coughing fit. "Humans aren't the only ones who are willing to sacrifice everything for family." Purple blood dripped out of her mouth, her tongue missing many chunks.

"Those damn gods, damn that bald man and damn his puny little brother. I'm going to die alone and cold because of those two!" She growled

"You won't, as long as I'm here yo-" Jaune interjected.

"The portal closes in an hour. Don't you remember? It is to make sure no other creatures accidentally fall into it."

Jaune did remember. At least now he did. He had spent so long lying in his blood and conversing with the Ender Dragon that he most definitely wasted much of his time, grunting, he pushed himself up. Limping toward the fountain looking portal, a black, glass-like yet liquid matter surrounding a pillar sat in the middle of the bedrock pillar.

He placed both hands on the sides of the End fountains frame, spitting a mixture of blood and bile into the black abyss that was the portal. He placed his right foot first, before lifting himself onto the frame.

He wore his broken chest plate, despite the fact it was no longer fixable, it was the only chest plate he was going to bring, he didn't have time to make a new one, his netherite was scarce, only bringing 5 extra ingots with him.

He stared at the dragon egg that sat atop of the End portal, he couldn't just leave it here, its mother was... gone by now, and the endermen were a husk of their former selves, mostly mindless, they couldn't take care of it. Placing it into his inventory, Jaune Arc prayed that when he opened his eyes, he would find himself in his old world once again.

And with that, he closed his eyes and jumped in.

Welcome to the first chapter of this story, working on chapter 2 which'll be longer than this chapter, hopefully.

I don't know when I'll finish the second chapter.
