17- Burns

Third Person POV

Levi was walking passed Petra and Gunther when he heard them whispering.

"Damn...it actually worked. I didn't think it would."

What the hell are those two talking about?

Levi thought to himself, gingerly handing (f/n) over to Hanji.

"Don't worry, Levi, I'll take good care of her. I'll be sure she gets back inside the walls safely. But we need to talk first." Hanji quietly spoke with him.

"About this whole Titan shifting thing?"

"Yes, and I think we should do it somewhere more private." Hanji replied, getting on her horse with (f/n) still in her arms.

Levi sent his and Hanji's squad to meet up with commander Erwin's squad, before he got on his horse as well.

Once they got to the cart, Levi helped Hanji set (f/n) in there. Another cadet was there, helping out the other injured cadets.

He went over to (f/n) and tended to her while Hanji and Levi walked off so they could talk.

"You do realize what this means, right?" Hanji started.

"Yes, I do." Levi mumbled, looking back over at the cart, seeing (f/n) still knocked out.

"If anyone outside of the scouts finds out, she's going to have to face trial..." Hanji sighed, looking at the cart as well.

"No, she won't, Hanji. What happens outside the walls, stays outside the walls." Levi replied.

Hanji opened her mouth, about to say something but shut it.

"We just have to keep this a secret, no one can find out. I don't want to see her in court. They could do anything to her! They could throw her in a cell for the rest of her life...or worse...execution."

Hanji nodded, sadly, thinking of what could happen to her friend. A few tears came to her eyes, but she contained herself.

"Don't fucking cry now. She'll be fine as long as everyone can keep their heads in their asses for the time being."

Hanji chuckled as the tears disappeared from her eyes.

"Alright, well it looks like they're about to take the cart back inside the walls." Levi said.

"Yeah...but how do you think she has this ability?" Hanji asked.

"Not sure, but I heard Ral and Schultz whispering to each other. They probably don't have anything to do with it, but still." Levi replied, walking over to the cart, Hanji following behind.

When they got over there, Levi grabbed (f/n)'s hand in his and gave it a light squeeze.

"Please wake up soon." He whispered, lightly kissing her forehead before backing away.

The cadet got on his horse that was pulling the cart, and whipped the reins.

A few other cadets on horses rode near the cart to escort them back inside the walls and keep it safe from Titans.

"We better go find the commander's squad so we can end this expedition." Hanji called out to Levi from her horse.

He nodded, walking back over to his horse and got on.

Levi's POV

The expedition finally ended and we were successful. We just got back inside the walls, and I wanted to get to (f/n) as soon as possible.

Hanji wouldn't let me go just yet since she still has to give her a check-up and tend to her wounds. I just got back to my office so I sat down on my chair, leaning my head into my hands.

She better be okay...

I sighed, sitting back up and looked at the ceiling.

Time Skip

A knock was heard on my door, so I called out to let them in.

Shitty-glasses peeked inside before walking in. "Levi, I'm sure you would like to see her now." She spoke in a calm tone.

My eyes lit up and without hesitation, I stood up and followed her to the infirmary.

Hanji let me go in first, and in the middle of the room, I saw a bed with (f/n) on it. There was blanket over her, reaching just below her neck.

I quickly went to her side and held her hand. Sadly, she still wasn't awake. Poor thing.

I quietly sighed, and shut my eyes.

As long as she's alive...

"Levi, while I was checking on her...I found some things I thought you'd like to see." I opened my eyes again and looked over at her.

Hanji walked over to the other side of her bed and I let go of (f/n)'s hand, backing up a few inches.

"What is it?" I slowly asked, a bit nervous for her answer.

"I wanted you to see this," She grabbed the ends of the blanket that was covering her and started to pull it down,

"Hanji?!" I shouted, covering my eyes.

"What the hell, Levi?" She chuckled. "She's not naked, you moron!"

I uncovered my eyes, and she continued to pull the blanket down, stopping around her waist.

She had wrapped a large bandage around her chest area.

I looked back at (f/n) and furrowed by brows, studying her skin. "What is all of this?" I asked.

"Levi...those are burn scars..." Hanji quietly answered.

"What the hell...?" I whispered. "Was this from her shifting into a Titan?" I questioned, lightly touching one of the burns.

"I'm afraid not." She replied. "But this happened from her shifting," Hanji pulled down the blanket to her hips now.

"Hanji, you took off her pants?!" I shouted. "I had to see her legs! I left her in her underwear, so relax!" She shouted back.

I rolled my eyes and looked at her waist. There was a thin uneven red line, going all the way around her waist.

"What is that?" "That's where the Titan bit her in half and where her legs grew back."

"Wait...I can't believe I'm asking this, but..." I quietly said.

Hanji tilted her head to the side with a questioning look.

"So...any body part can grow back if you're a Titan shifter?"

She hesitantly nodded, "yes".

"...Even...her..." I looked down at the floor, thinking over why I'm asking this. I didn't really want to say it.

Hanji lifted the blanket, looking. I guess she understood what I was trying to say.

When she came back up, her eyebrows were raised. "Yup. Even that." She giggled.

I nodded, looking back over all the scars (f/n) had.

"Why...? Were you planning on-"

"Fuck no, shitty-glasses!" I scoffed.

"Just checking." She mumbled, giggling.

A moment of silence passed before Hanji broke it.

"We need to figure out how she got those burn marks...and the other scars as well."

"Hey...look at this..." I waved her over. I tilted (f/n)'s head back, carefully, so we could look at her neck.

Right under her jaw, on her neck, was a unnoticeably faint pink mark that went all the way around.

"It looks like she was choked..." Hanji whispered.

"What?!" My eyes widened.

"Did she have any scars on her legs?"

"A few." Hanji replied, pulling the blanket off so I could see.

I felt my face start to heat up. I didn't think about it until now, but I was looking at her, almost completely naked, without her knowledge.

I quickly examined her legs and told Hanji to cover her back up.

Before we left, I glanced back over at (f/n).

Promise me you'll wake up.

"When do you think she'll wake up?" I asked, walking out into the hallways with Hanji.

"She should be up by tomorrow at most." I nodded and went back to my office.

Third Person POV

A few hours had passed and Hanji was on her way to check up on (f/n) again.

When she walked inside of her infirmary room, she walked over to (f/n)'s side.

Looks like she won't be waking up anytime tonight.

Something reflected the light and caught Hanji's attention.

She looked at (f/n)'s left hand and saw her ring was on her index finger.

That's weird...where did that come from...?
