Melody's POV

I peered around the thick heavy stage curtains into the club scanning the packed audience on the floor. My gaze swept beyond them to the raised VIP sections and I felt my heart stutter in my chest as I spotted Shu leaning against the railing looking bored. A few girls were trying to talk to him from the main audience but he ignored them or honestly didn't notice their existence. His oceanic blue eyes swept the club, looking for something. Was he looking for me?

"Hey, you ready?" I felt someone tap me on the shoulder and turned to find one of the guys Poe played with who'd agreed to play guitar for me whenever I performed locally. Everyone called him Rex.

I nodded suddenly feeling a swell of emotions making me a giddy anxious mess. My palms were starting to sweat, there was a nervous fluttering in my stomach and my heart was beating sporadically.

Rex looked momentarily worried, "You alright? You don't normally have stage fright."

"I don't have stage fright." I shot at him.

Rex chuckled, "Oh, is there someone you want to impress in the audience?"

My face burned at this causing him to laugh more.

He lightly slapped his hands on my face, startling me, "You'll do great, and after he sees you perform live, it's game over, you got him right where you want him." He winked.

I couldn't help but smile at his weird and somewhat sexual pep-talk, "Thanks Rex."

The DJ announced us and we took to the stage with the rest of the guys from Rex's band that volunteered to help me out. I felt nervous as I stalked across the stage toward the grand piano wondering if my outfit was too much. I was wearing a black and white striped skirt that was short at the front and fell in a long ruffled bustle down the back just barely reaching the floor, a pair of fishnet tights, knee high clunky black boots and a black corset with blood red accents that matched my hair. My blood red hair was wrapped up tight atop my head being held up by a pair of decorative chopsticks.

The crowd cheered as I took a seat at the piano bench. My heart was racing and I bit my lips before chancing a glance back in Shu's direction. His oceanic blue eyes were wide in awe. Rex cleared his throat behind me to draw me back to the stage and I took a deep breath forcing myself to look away from Shu. We kicked off the set with a haunting piano solo before transitioning into the heavier stuff. It was a blend of classical and metal with soft delicate vocals and heavy screams.

We played a full set and an encore at the crowd's behest before taking a bow and disappearing off stage. I thanked the band and slipped out a side door that led into the club near the bar. People swarmed around me to congratulate me on the performance and try to get selfies and autographs. Politely, I thanked everyone for coming and looked to the VIP section. My heart fell, I didn't see Shu anywhere. Maybe he didn't like the performance...or me. I just read into his few moments of kindness and ran with it. That was entirely possible, I wasn't used to people being kind to me so maybe I'd somehow deluded myself into thinking he liked me and in reality, he was just being polite and accepting my offers so as not to hurt my feelings.

"Hey doll, that was a killer performance." A man in his late twenties blocked my path. He had a decently attractive face, a neatly trimmed dark beard and a head of dark hair with a steel gaze. While I was sure most women swooned and threw themselves at him whenever they saw him, I felt a little uneasy in his presence.

"Thank you." I smiled politely and continued searching the bar.

"How about I buy you a drink?"

"Sorry, no thank you, I'm underage and I'm looking for someone. Please excuse me." I made a move to duck around him but paused as he stepped in front of me once more.

"Come on doll, don't play hard to get, why don't we get out of here, we can party somewhere they don't card and have a good time." He insisted.

"No thanks." I turned to walk away and thought I felt a brush of air as if someone had tried to grab me from behind before a strong cold hand encircled my wrist and I was tugged forward. A squeak escaped me as I stumbled forward into a pair of open arms. My amber eyes glanced upward to see who had just caught me and I felt my breath hitch in my throat as I came face to face with the devilishly handsome, Shu. Heat burned through me turning my face scarlet as I realized how close we were, "Shu." His name escaped me in an almost breathless sigh and I blushed again. I'd just called him by his first name! "Ah sor-." He pressed a finger to my lips.

A small smirk twitched at the corners of his lips as I fell silent and blushed like mad. His oceanic blue eyes flicked past me in the direction of the guy who'd just tried to pick me up at the bar. "You're a magnet for trouble."

"Huh?" I squeaked. What was that supposed to mean?

He shook his head not wanting to elaborate further, "Never Mind, are you done here?"

I nodded. Did he want to leave? Did he enjoy the performance? Why was he still holding onto me?

"Let's go somewhere else."

"Ah, I have to get my stuff from backstage, I'll meet you in the alley around back."

Shu nodded and released me from his hold. I escaped backstage as my heart raced in my chest. He wanted to go somewhere else, with me. Like a date? My face was a bright shade of scarlet as I grabbed my bag from backstage and headed for the back exit.

I stepped into the alley and shivered at the sudden chill in the air, it had gotten colder. The moment the door shut behind me a hand clamped down on my arm. Before I even had a moment to scream I was slammed against the brick wall next to the door I'd just exited. The decorative sticks in my hair were knocked askew and some of my long blood red hair came loose from its hold. Stars exploded behind my eyelids at the force of the impact. Something sharp and pointed was pressed tightly against my neck.

My eyes began to adjust and I stared in horror at the guy who had tried to pick me up at the bar moments before. His piercing steel eyes were filled with rage. There was a knife in his hand that was currently applying pressure to my neck forcing me to keep silent. There was a prick of pain and I trembled as a thin steady stream of blood trickled down my neck.

"You know, doll, we could have done this the easy way. I'm not used to getting rejected and I'll admit it really ticks me off." He hissed before leaning forward to try and steal a kiss.

I flinched and tried to resist. A gasp escaped me as he was suddenly wrenched away from me. He let out a panicked yell as he was thrown back. My eyes were snapped tightly shut, I didn't see what happened nor did I care, I needed to get away to find Shu before he got involved in something bad. I turned and sprinted down the alley.

Shu appeared in front of me and I came to a skidding halt with a yelp. "Ah! Shu! We have to go!" I made a move to grab his hand to try and pull him to safety. The guy had a knife, we were unarmed; we had to run.

He caught my wrist as I reached for him and I felt a shiver roll down my spine as he lightly pressed his middle and index finger over my radial artery noting the beats of my racing heart. His oceanic blue eyes ensnared me. A gasp escaped me as his grip on my wrist tightened keeping me in place as his other hand reached toward me brushing the few strands of loose deep red hair away from my neck. His gaze locked on the blood dripping from my neck now almost reaching my cleavage.

"It's not safe here. We should go." I squeaked.

Shu's gaze flicked behind me to where my attacker was, "You're right, it's not safe." He sounded strange.

"He could wake up any minute-."

"I'll take care of it again." He shrugged.

"Huh?" Again? What did he mean? I chanced a glance over my shoulder to see the guy who'd tried to attack me lying unconscious next to a big white utility van. Had he been planning on abducting me? "But you just said it's not safe..."

"It's not safe." He affirmed as he backed me against the brick wall. "You're alone in a dark alley with a hungry vampire..."

Vampire? A gasp escaped me. "You're a-...wait...vampires are real? Oh, gosh, is that why you were extra standoffish that day I had all those garlic breadsticks?" I blurted in a rush not comprehending completely what he'd said.

Shu chuckled at this, "Always so noisy. I just told you that you're alone with a hungry vampire and you want to ask silly questions... are you aware that you're bleeding?"

I paled, "And you're hungry...I'm sorry."

"Such a strange girl." He smirked.

"You saved me...the least I could do is give you some blood..." I bit my lip nervously.

His grip on my wrist tightened and I let out a soft whimper of pain. "Do you have any idea what you're doing?" He looked down at me sternly. "I'm hungry and the smell of you alone is enough to drive me mad with ravenous hunger."

My heart skipped a beat. "But I don't have any other way to repay you."

Shu leaned forward and I let out a squeak and attempted to push him away.

"Ah. Wait, not here." I squeaked.

Shu took a step away and looked down at me with amusement dancing in his oceanic eyes. "Where would you like to be devoured?"

His words sent a shiver down my spine. "My apartment isn't too far."

He released his hold on my wrist and shrugged. "You're not afraid of me." His tone was as bored and indifferent as ever.

"Why should I be? You just saved me. I trust you." I smiled as we made our way to my apartment.

"You sure that's wise?" He smirked.

I shrugged, "I don't know."

"What if I killed you by mistake?"

I pondered this for a moment, "Poe would have to hire someone else and there's no guarantee they'd remember to put in your rewards info for you when you buy things and you wouldn't save as much money on your albums and miss out on promotions..." I was rambling nonsensically again.

Shu laughed at this, a soft yet rich laugh that instantly made my heart flutter in my chest. "You really are an odd girl."

"Is that bad?" I asked warily.

He shook his head in silent laughter.

We reached my apartment and I was glad I'd cleaned up before I'd left for the show. I held the door open for him before blushing, did he have to be invited in? "Ah, please come in, or do I have to say something special? Can yo-?" He pressed a finger to my lips cutting off my rambling, again. There was a faint trace of a smile on his lips.

"Noisy." He smirked as he stepped inside and shut the door behind him.

"Sorry." I moved toward the kitchen automatically, "Can I get you anything? Would you like something to eat or drink, tea, coffee-." He threw me an amused look, "Oh...right...me..." I took a nervous step back, "Um...what do I-?... Where should I-?" My face burned hot, "How do you want me?"

Shu laughed once more a rich warm sound that almost lifted me off my feet. He stepped forward and caught me in his arms. A shiver rolled down my spine at our closeness and the chill of his body. His lips lightly brushed against mine, testing the waters. A soft squeak escaped me and I stepped back as my face was ready to explode with heat. The heel of my boot caught the edge of my area rug and I tumbled backward onto the couch.

A cool hand gently cupped my cheek before sweeping my now loose and wild blood red hair out of my face, smoothing it back, out of the way. My heart raced with anticipation as Shu knelt on the couch, leaning over me, easily pinning me beneath him before a terrifying thought crossed my mind.

"Will I die?"

Shu chuckled, "Probably not."

"Is it going to hurt?"

He leaned closer and I held my breath as he kissed my neck. "Only a little." There was a slight pinprick of pain before my body grew hot as he slowly began to devour me. I was overcome with pleasure as his lips tenderly caressed the sensitive skin at the base of my neck as he drank me in. After a moment he pulled back and licked his lips staring down at me in awe, "Your blood is unlike anything I've ever had before."

I blushed beneath him. "Y-you can have more."

"It will never be enough." He breathed seductively as he bent forward and captured my lips in a passionate kiss.

A soft gasp escaped me as I felt the prick of his fangs on my lip. I could taste blood in my mouth. His tongue gingerly swept over my lips begging for entry. I parted my lips and shuddered in ecstasy as his tongue lightly caressed my own stealing the few droplets of blood that had spilled into my mouth. Heat spread through my core and my body thrummed with excitement. Desire wormed through me and I found myself wanting more of him.

Boldly I entwined my arms around his neck and kissed him back with a fire I never knew I possessed. I felt Shu's lips pull into a smile against my own as he withdrew his tongue from my mouth. He trailed a maddening line of kisses from my lips down my chin, then my neck before coming to a stop at my breasts that were currently pushed up and exploding out of my tight corset.

A gasp escaped my lips and a shudder ran through me as he kissed the top of my left breast. He opened his mouth and I felt my heart stutter in my chest as I saw spotted his fangs before they were tearing into my flesh urging a cry of pain and pleasure from me. My body was hot, my heart was pounding and my mind went hazy as he devoured me again and again.

By the time he'd had his fill, there were bite marks all over my body, my neck, my breasts, my wrists and thighs. Shu lifted me into his arms as the edges of my vision began to darken. He kissed me sweetly on the lips as he carried me to my bedroom.

"Shu?" I strained to keep myself awake and meet his breathtaking oceanic blue gaze.

"Hm?"

"Did you like the show?"

A soft chuckle escaped him, "The afterparty was much more enjoyable." He eased me onto my bed and draped a blanket around me, "Perhaps I can get a private performance from the delectable nightingale, I think I'd enjoy that."

A blush crept onto my cheeks. "Anytime."

He smiled softly as he streamed his fingers through my long blood red hair, "Goodnight, sweet Melody."

"Am I going to remember any of this tomorrow?" I asked uncertain wondering if vampires could really alter the memories of their prey.

"Do you want to?" Amusement danced in his breathtaking gaze.

"I never want to forget."

He leaned forward and caught my lips in a passionate kiss, "Sleep." He breathed.
