:: Reiji :: Part Three

Raven's POV

The following Saturday, I woke before my alarm, all my missions throughout the week were easy enough and I'd had time to allow my body to heal. I tidied up the apartment before taking a shower and changing into a pair of blue skinny jeans and a white tank top with a Ouija board on it before heading to the kitchen to make some tea and see what kind of snacks I had. Reiji would most likely arrive a few minutes early, whatever was polite and boring. There was a soft knock at the door at exactly 11:55AM. Five minutes early.

"It's open!" I yelled as I brewed the tea and set out a small tray of cheese and crackers. I could practically feel his scowl from the other side of the door before it swung open.

Reiji stepped into my apartment and paused as he noticed I had a notebook, textbook and writing utensil ready as well as snacks laid out. His crimson eyes widened a fraction before returning to normal. "It's proper to greet your guests at the door and let them in yourself, not yell at them from across the abode."

I rolled my eyes at this as I set my plain black tea pot atop a hotplate on the table before going to retrieve two tea cups from the cupboard. "I'm uncivilized, what do you expect?" When I returned with the tea cups I paused as I noticed dark circles beneath his eyes and a sickly pallor to his skin. He was usually pale, all of the Sakamaki brothers were, but he seemed paler than usual. "You feeling okay?" I set the teacups down and stepped toward him reaching out to feel his temperature.

He jerked away from my touch and shot me a cold look, "Don't act so familiar with me, hu-." He cut off and cleared his throat. What was he going to call me?

"You just look paler than usual. Are you not feeling well?" I asked him curiously.

"I'm fine, not that it's any concern of yours." He retorted and I threw my hands in the air in exasperation as I turned my back on him and retreated to the dining table.

"You're impossible, four eyes." I dropped into my seat and began pouring the tea.

"Its customary to pour tea for your guest first before serving yourself." He scolded me for my improper etiquette.

"Is it rude to throw scalding hot tea in my guest's face?" I asked him with a smile.

"Very."

"Nuts." I shook my head as I finished pouring the tea and placed the teapot back on the hot plate. "You sure you're alright?"

"I find my usual source of sustenance lacking as of late." He said somewhat cryptically.

"For fuck's sake, can you talk like a normal teenager for five minutes? You sound like you're from another time period." I sighed and noticed his body tense slightly. I'd said something that had triggered him again, like last week when I said he was acting human. Was there something more going on? Was it possible he wasn't a human? I shook my head at this thought, what else could he be? This wasn't science fiction.

He pondered his words carefully, "I think my taste buds are changing, what I used to enjoy eating no longer gives me the same satisfaction."

"So, try something new." I shrugged.

"Are you offering?" There was some kind of hidden meaning in his question, something in the tone of his voice made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

"Well I'm not a fancy chef like I'm sure you're accustomed but I can make grilled cheese, or spaghetti. Take your pick." I cursed myself as my voice shook nervously.

"I'm craving something else." His crimson gaze flicked in my direction and my heart skipped a beat in my chest. "You're not injured today..." He noted somewhat distantly.

I wasn't entirely sure how to take his strange behavior and decided to ignore his comment, "Help yourself, I highly doubt I have any food in the cupboards that'll meet your refined tastes but whatever, go crazy." I turned my gaze away from him and flipped open my textbook. "We should probably figure out what kind of experiments we want to do for this proj-." I turned to face him but cut off with a sharp intake of breath as I found his face inches from my own. "What are you do-?" I cut off with a gasp as he caught my wrist in his hand and wrenched me out of my seat and into his arms as if I weighed absolutely nothing nearly dislocating my shoulder in the process, "What the hell-?!" A gasp escaped me as his arms tightened around me and I found my chest pressed tightly against his.

He was completely immovable, his grip around me too strong for me to break. Before I could question him further he leaned forward and for the briefest of moments I thought he was going to kiss me and clamped my eyes shut and let out a terrified squeak. I'd never kissed a boy before! There was a sharp piercing pain at the base of my neck and I let out a gasp as I felt his cold lips brush across my skin.

What was happening?! My heart was racing in my chest. Why was he kissing my neck, why did it hurt?! Did he bite me? Did he have some weird biting fetish? I could feel a warm viscous liquid drip down my neck. It bled onto my shirt near my cleavage. Did he make me bleed or was he drooling? My head was swimming.

"Reiji?! Stop!" I attempted once more in vain to break from his hold.

His grip slackened and he drew away from me. My heart was pounding thunderously loud in my chest, I could feel it beating against my rib cage as I took in shaky gasping breaths. I shook unsteadily as my fuchsia gaze fell on the blood staining his lips, my blood. Hesitantly I glanced down at myself and saw a thin trail of blood trickling down my chest staining my tank top.

"It amazes me that the lowest quality of human can have the highest quality of blood." Reiji said almost poetically as he reached forward and swept my long navy tinged raven hair out of my face drawing my eyes to his crimson gaze. "Thank you for the meal, Raven." My name on his bloody lips made my heart flutter.

Meal? Blood? It felt like I was in shock. I couldn't catch my breath; my head was swimming. How was this possible? Was he a cannibal? That didn't explain how he could have pierced my neck so easily, I'd barely felt the prick just the blood. If he were a normal human, to pierce my skin he'd have to apply an immense amount of pressure, it would have hurt a hell of a lot more.

"W-What are you?" My voice sounded faint and weak to my own ears as I stared up at him in shock.

"Isn't it obvious?" His voice was soft and scolding as if he were chiding a child for their ignorance.

"V-vampire?" It sounded insane even as I said it, but I knew it was true the moment it crossed my mind. Reiji was a vampire. Vampires were real and I'd allowed one to enter my home.

"Very good. Now, shall we begin our school work or shall I continue to slake my thirst until I've had my fill of you?" His voice sent a shiver down my spine. The blood slowly trickling down my neck had begun to turn cold from exposure to the cool room and began to congeal across my skin.

I managed to stumble out of his hold and put some distance between us though in the back of my mind I knew I'd only managed to escape his clutches because he had allowed it. He was much stronger and faster than I could ever dream to be. If he were seriously intending on taking my life, I didn't stand a chance against him. That didn't mean I wasn't going to try my damndest to keep him away from me.

He slowly rose to his feet, at a slow human pace. My fight or flight kicked in and I dove for the end table in the living room. Executing a graceful forward roll I retrieved the automatic handgun hidden beneath it and unholstered it before cocking it and aiming it in his direction.

"Don't think for a second, I'll make it easy for you." I said coolly as a sense of calm washed over me once I had the gun in my hands.

Reiji didn't seem the least bit concerned by the gun in my hands and completely ignored me as he made his way into the kitchen. He was moving slowly allowing me to keep my firearm pointed in his direction. He was toying with me. Did he think I wouldn't shoot him? Or was he confident enough in his own super speed and strength that he'd easily be able to dodge it if I did pull the trigger? This thought sickened me and filled me with dread.

He found a clean towel from one of the drawers near the sink before running it under some water he cleaned himself up returning to his prim proper appearance before running the towel under the water once more. Once he was finished with his task he turned to me. "If we're not going to continue, you should clean yourself up."

What? He approached me, still moving slowly. I began applying pressure to the trigger, "Don't come any closer." I hissed as I struggled to process everything.

Reiji ignored my order and drew steadily nearer.

"I mean it!" I steadied my hand and began applying more pressure to the trigger.

He disappeared from my line of sight and a gasp escaped me as he appeared behind me one hand plucked the firearm from my hand with ease as his other snaked around me and caught me by the neck applying enough pressure to make breathing more difficult. My body tensed for a moment before my fighting instincts kicked in. I swung back at him with my elbow. He deflected with ease before tightening his grip on my neck cutting off my oxygen supply entirely.

"Oh, so you wanted to continue where we left off." His voice breathed in my ear causing my skin to ripple with gooseflesh and a shiver to roll down my spine.

I struggled against him to no avail and let out a silent cry as he bit into the back of my neck from behind. Pain radiated through my body from where he'd punctured my skin before I was overcome with an almost pleasurable sensation as his lips brushed across my hot skin. I could hear him drinking my blood and began to feel lightheaded as he continued to devour me.

My vision began to darken from lack of oxygen and blood loss. Was I dying? Was he really going to kill me? I felt a chill wash over me as I slowly slipped away from consciousness and fell limp in his arms.
