Kou x Subaru
Okay, nobody was requesting....so I came up with this on my own~
Kou's P.O.V.
I gasped in fright as I bolted upright, my eyes welcomed by darkness. I began to hyperventilate, placing a hand over my bare chest. As I began to feel my own heart beat, I began to calm down as a bead of sweat stream down the side of my face. I didn't even realize I was clenching the sheets below me until I had unclenched my grip.
"Just another nightmare....just another nightmare....." I muttered to myself in a weak attempt of self comfort. However, it never made me feel better. These nightmares are becoming more frequent. I feel like I sleep less and less every night. But....I guess there isn't anything I can do about it.
"Well, I guess I might as well get up. No way am I going back to sleep." I muttered as I brushed my hair back with my fingers, spotting the sunlight peaking from my curtains. I didn't hesitate to get ready for the day and head down stairs, already smelling breakfast from the top of the stairs.
"Ohio~!!" I called as I ran into the dining room. Azusa and Yuma looked to me and smiled.
"Ohio.....Kou-kun." Azusa murmured. "Morning Kou. Sleep well?" Yuma asked.
"As best as I could." I murmured. I never told anyone about the trouble I had sleeping. They didn't need to know. Besides, there wasn't anything they could do to help anyway. Reiji gently pushed his glasses up his nose and looked up from his plate.
"You should sit with us and eat." he said. I nodded at his invitation and plopped beside Subaru, who growled at my presence. Ever since our house was destroyed, we Mukami's moved in with the Sakamaki's for awhile. I looked to the white haired vampire beside me and smirked.
"Good morning, Subaru-kun~"
"What the hell do you want?" he stated coldly, not even bothering to look at my direction. I put on a fake expression of hurt. "Oh Subaru-kun~ You're so mean to me. Why can't you be nice for once and smile?" I asked.
"Go to hell." Subaru muttered, taking a bite of his food. I pouted, crossing my arms. He used his chop sticks to grab another piece of sushi, but I felt a playful smile on my lips. I snatched my own chopsticks and grabbed the sushi piece, immediately popping it into my mouth. He sent me a harsh glare.
"What the hell?!" he snapped. I swallowed my bite and chuckled.
"You were too slow." I said innocently. He rolled his eyes in annoyance. This was a normal thing for us. I would pester him with small pranks and remarks, and he would throw insults at me while threatening to hurt me.
"Kou, what have I told you about agitating Subaru?" Ruki said.
"I'm just having fun~" I whined. Subaru only shook his head and continued to eat. I chuckled and laid my head onto my palm, getting a chance to look at him closer. The way his white hair contrasted so well with those bright, red eyes. I'm not sure whether those were pink highlights he had in his hair or it was just the shadow, but they complimented his face well.
Yes, I like Subaru. But there is no way I could ever tell him directly. He wouldn't feel the same in my deepest fantasies. That doesn't mean I won't enjoy what we have now. He gave me an odd expression, and it was then I realized I was staring for too long. I felt heat rush to my cheeks as I quickly picked up my fork and began to shovel food into my mouth, as if nothing had happened.
However, I think he noticed.
Subaru's P.O.V.
I threw another dart at the board, and it struck a green side from the inner left. I clenched down onto my teeth, and threw another one, but this one only struck the outer black. Damn, my aim is off. Why is that the case?
Could it be....I can't stop thinking about that damn boy.
Kou-kun.
Why is my mind blinded by everything about him? His wavy, golden hair. Those innocent blue eyes that hid the mischief inside his heart. The way he laughs. Why does my heart beat faster when I think such thoughts? It ticks me off. I don't want to think that way about him. I guess I could just try to shake off the feeling, but it seems difficult.
I threw another dart, and it bounced off the board. "Tch, son of a bitch...." I hissed under my breath. I sighed, looking away and leaning against the pool table. I need to clear my head, get my mind off things for awhile....
"Subaru-kun~" Oh come on.
I glared at the blonde haired boy as he approached me, a wide smile on his face, just barely making his fangs flash in the little light there was in the room. "What do you want?" I asked.
"I'm bored! I wanna play a game, but everyone else is busy!" Kou whined. I rolled my eyes as I walked over to the dart board to retrieve my darts. "Go find Azusa, he always has time for you doesn't he?" It's true, out of everyone in the house that I know, Azusa is always the one guaranteed to spend time with Kou. Those two share a deep bond.
"I would, but even he's busy. He and Kanato-kun went out on another date." That's right, he and Kanato are together now. The whole house had heard of Azusa's suicide attempt, and how Kanato saved him. Since then, their relationship has become closer then ever.
(If it isn't already obvious, this is linked to my Azusa x Kanato short story that's in this oneshots book. If you haven't read it yet, I suggest you do. It's my best one, in my opinion)
I glanced over my shoulder to look at the blonde vampire. "Doesn't it bother you in the slightest that Kanato spends so much time with Azusa? I mean, especially after what he did to your brother...." Kou frowned at that question. Before Azusa and Kanato got together, Kanato was quite....harsh, to say the least, towards that suicidal vampire. Kou was especially angry at him. However, after they got together, Kanato quickly changed for the better.
"No, not really," Kou replied, his frown being replaced with a smile, "Because I can tell Kanato cares a lot about Azusa. He'll take good care of him from now on." I couldn't help but be surprised. I didn't think Kou would be so honest. Especially towards me. I shrugged it off however, and returned to retrieving my darts.
"Now can we play Subaru-kun? Onegai~" Kou pleaded.
"No. I don't want to play. Why would I play with you?" I asked coldly. Suddenly a dart whizzed just inches away from the skin of my cheek, making my eyes widen. It struck a red area in the inner circle of the dart board. I looked back at him. A smirk played on his lips, while one of his eyes glowed red.
"Come on, Subaru-kun~ Don't tell me you're not up to the challenge."
A part of me felt pissed off from him ego, and I turned to face him. I felt my eyebrows furrow as I glared at him.
"You wanna be like that....fine. We'll play." I hissed.
"Ooh, kowai~" Kou said. I took a few steps towards him, just until I was towering over him. I was barely taller than him, but that hardly mattered. He just looked at me innocently, awaiting my next sentence. Oh how I wanted to wipe that smug look off his face.
"In fact, how about a little wager?" I asked. "Hmm? I'm listening~"
"Simple, whoever wins a game of darts wins a prize of their choosing." I replied. "That so? Perfect! I'm in! If I win then, hmm...." he placed a finger on his chin, thinking over before looking back at me and placing a single finger tip against my chest, "You have to be my servant for a whole two days~"
"Fine." Kou didn't hesitate to go to the table and pick up his darts.
"What about you, Subaru-kun? What do you want when if you win?" he asked. I knew exactly what I wanted.
"Your blood." my response made Kou freeze dead in his tracks, as if he had been suddenly turned into stone. There was a moment of silence before he slowly turned around to look at me, shock in his blue eyes.
"Y-You're kidding, right?" he asked. "No, I'm not. If I win, I want your blood." I stated deadpanned. Kou blinked before looking away, his lips forming a straight line. His eyes looked hesitant....almost, scared. I almost felt concern creep its way into my heart, but I forced it back down so I could put on my own smirk.
"Nani? I thought you wanted to play~" Kou looked back at me, and forced on his own smile full of fake confidence.
"Sure I do. I'm fine with it. Not like you're gonna win anyway." I held my hand out.
"Then let's make it official." he looked to my hand, again looking hesitant. However he firmly grasped my hand, looking me in the eye.
"It's a bet then." we both said in unison
Small time skip
Kou's P.O.V.
I stared at the dart board with great intensity, my eyes narrowing. I didn't have to look at Subaru to know he was doing the same. Six darts were stuck on the board, three from each of us. Right now....we were tied. We each only had one dart left in our hands. This would decide it all.
"You first." Subaru stated. I held the dart up carefully in my hand, my eyes narrowing at the center of the board. Just one good shot. One good shot and I can beat him. I felt my heart beating out of my chest, and my forehead was damp with sweat. I took one quick glance at the hand that held the dart, seeing that it was trembling slightly.
"Haiyaku!" Subaru snapped.
"Urusai!" I snapped back. I took a deep breath in, and exhaled....then I threw the dart. It struck the spot right below the center, only a millimeter from hitting the circle in the middle of the dart. I beamed.
"Tsugoine! Hahahaha yes!" I cried. I looked back at my opponent with new confidence, feeling a smug expression spread onto my face.
"You're turn, Subaru-kun~" There is no way he can beat that. Subaru didn't look away from the dart, his crimson eyes narrowing onto it. He didn't move to raise the hand that held his last dart. He didn't move at all. This only made me smile more.
"Doshtano, Subaru-kun? Don't tell me your wussing out just because I got so close-" suddenly he pulled his arm back and threw his dart, his hair moving gracefully.
The dart struck right into the center.
All at once I felt my heart drop along with my jaw. My eyes were wide, and I could only stare at the board. He....he made a perfect shot? Are you kidding me?! How is that possible! Even I rarely hit the middle! He can he be so skilled?!
"I win." I snapped a glare at the boy. I growled to myself, stomping my foot.
"Kusoga! Kusoga! Kusoga! You bastard!" I whined. Not wanting to see his face anymore, I teleported out of the room.....completely forgetting our bet.
Subaru's P.O.V.
I watched as Kou disappeared, shoving my hands into my pockets. Did he already forget about our bet? Oh well....
I'll collect my prize when I'm thirsty.
(Don't worry, a part 2 is already ensured for the future)
