KURA'S POV

It was the end of the classes and as I was walking through the corridors I saw Kanato and he was holding his teddy close to his chest. When he saw me he said,"Good evening Kura-san." I looked at him and said,"Oh hi Kanato." He then said,"You seem to be enjoying yourself here."

"Maybe it's because I'm just glad there are other vampire hunters here." I said as I ate one of my homemade cookies. Kanato saw this and said,"They smell nice." I said, "They are and they taste good as well, I made these earlier on this morning I've already given some to Yui, there's still a few left want one?" Kanato's eyes lit up and said,"Thank you."

Kanato got two cookies. He ate one and said,"Wow these are good, I didn't know you could make sweets." I smiled and said"After my mother died she left behind some recipes for me to make some sweets I've been doing it for quite awhile as well." Kanato understood this an said,"I see, no wonder they're so good."

I offered the bag to him again and said,"Here you can have a few more, I know how much you like things sweet." Kanato smiled like a child and said,"Thanks Kura-san." Kanato took a couple more of the cookies and he said,"Thanks, see you later."

"Later." I said as I waved goodbye to him. I thought to myself,"They maybe vampires but, I guess I can be nice to them once in a while."

I got to an empty classroom and I sat on the window sill sketching away. While I was drawing I said,"How long do you intend to sit there and watch me, Subaru?" I said as I glanced at Subaru who was sitting next to me when he teleported out of nowhere. Suabru said,"Tch, I have no idea what you're talking about."

I continued to draw and then Subaru said,"Hey, what exactly is it you're sketching anyway?" I showed my portrait of Subaru and he said,"Are you a stalker or a hunter?" I smacked his shoulder and said,"Oy!" Subaru rubbed his shoulder and said,"I'm kidding, I gotta admit, for a vampire hunter you're good at art."

"Thank you." I said as I continued to draw the portrait of Subaru. We sat in silence for a few seconds and Subaru said,"Why did you become a vampire hunter?" I said,"It's a long story but let's just say after my mother passed away and my father ignored for five years I decided to leave home and become part of a vampire hunter's group where I felt more loved and I felt free." Subaru said,"...Kura..."

My eyes widen at what I was saying and I said,"Ignore me, I sometimes get like this when someone asks me about my past I don't know why I say those things." I said as I waved my hands as a sign not to worry about it. Subaru then says,"It's fine." Suabru says as he looks out of the window.

I smiled and I tore the page out of my sketchbook and I gave the drawing to Subaru. He looked a bit surprised and I said,"You can have it, call it my way of saying thanks for putting up with me for these last few days." Subaru blushed and then he took the drawing from me and said,"Uh..Thanks."

He said as Subaru looks out of the window with a blush on his cheeks. I thought to myself,"Underneath all of that bad attitude he does have a cute side to him." I stood up from the window sill and I then left the classroom. While I was on my way to the next class I saw wolves running about through the bushes. I thought to myself,"First it was that Richter person and now there are some wolves, I get the feeling that something big is about to happen, hmm, I'll need to find out more about this Richter person maybe one of the brothers can tell me."

Just then, I heard some say,"Offt!" I was confused at what that sound was about I looked down and there was a sleeping Shuu lying underneath my foot. I said,"Oh for the love Pete! Shu! What are you doing lying on the ground like that?!"

He sat up and said,"I was trying to sleep until someone stepped on me." I frowned and said,"Well maybe if you weren't napping on the floor like that it wouldn't have happened." Shu leaned against the wall and he closes his eyes again and says,"Be quiet, you're ruining my music."

I sighed and I said,"Oh brother, Reji is right you are a deadbeat, honestly, you're even worse than my old man." I said as I walked away from him with annoyed look on my face. We were in the middle of class, we had to practise with our swords with our sparing partners. I was stuck with Hanako and she grinned at me and said,"You know that I think about it, I have heard of your name from one of the other vampire hunters they say you're one of the number one female fighters when it comes to being a swordsman."

 "Yes it's true, why do you ask?" I said as I had my hand on my sword's hilt. She said,"I had hoped I'd get opportunity to fight someone as strong as you." The teacher came over and said,"Alright ladies, cut the tension down a little, remember this will be a fair fight."

I placed my hand on my sword's hilt and the other hand on it's sheathe. I said,"Just to let you know, this fight will over quick and easy." Hanako smirked and said,"Is that so? let's put that theory to the test shall we?" Hanako said as she unsheathed her sword.

She stood at a fighting stance and she was about to charge at me but I dashed at her and I unsheathed my sword. I stood at a fighting stance and then Hanako looked at me shocked and then she felt her cheek and realised that made a hit on her.

HANAKO'S POV

After she drew her sword I thought to myself,"Whoa! She's fast! I guess the rumours about her are true, hmpf! She's nothing special time to show that bimbo who's the real strongest fighter around here."

I smiled at her and I then I charged at her and I swung my blade at her countless times to strike her.

KURA'S POV

Hanako kept swinging her sword at me like a mad woman as I dodged her attacks from left and right. I used my sword to block her blade and I then spun around and I scraped her thigh. Hanako fell to her knees and she looked at her wound and then she looked at me with madness in her eyes and said,"Hehe! This amazing! The rumours are true you really are skilled! But I won't lose!"

She charged at me and I grabbed her wrist and I pulled it upwards and I kicked her in the back sending Hanako flying to the wall. Hanako slid down the wall and then she was on her hands and knees panting for breath. Suddenly the teacher said,"That's enough! Hanako, that's enough fighting for you go to the infirmary and get those injuries fixed up."

"Yes sir." Hanako got up and then she glared at me. Before Hanako left she said,"Our little fight is only the beginning you and I are rivals Kura!" Hanako left and I said to the class rep,"What the heck is wrong with her? Is she a psycho?"

"Sorry I forgot to tell you, Since Hanako became a vampire hunter she started to enjoy bringing pain to others her father was worried about this so she was sent here to get rid of that enjoyment for inflicting pain to other people but..." I knew what the reaction means. I said,"I know that reaction, she's been fine until now?"

"Something like that but she still tends to get carried away when it comes to the combat classes." Sakamoto says as he sweat drops. I then said,"I see, no wonder she was so fixated on fighting me."

"Is it any wonder?" Sakura said as she came over. She said,"Some of our parents and the other hunters have heard some rumours about you I heard you're pretty fast and the other hunters also said that you can be ruthless it seems that part is true the way you were fighting off Hanako like that."

"It's not my fault that I'm ruthless it's just how I was brought up in the past I guess you could say I tend to take my anger out on the targeted vampires because of my childhood." I said casually. Sakura said,"Really? Was it that bad?"

"Losing your mother to a disease and your own father ignoring you? Yes it was pretty rough for me but not anymore, I'm living the life as a vampire hunter so things are now peaceful for me, well, except for going after some targeted vampires." I said casually again. Sakamoto says,"Wow, that must have been rough for you, I can't believe your own father would do something that cruel to you."

"We live in a cruel world at times but we just have to grin and bare it, that's all we can do." I said as I walked away from them. Sakura and Sakamoto were shocked by what I said and then Sakura said,"She's so cool."

SUBARU'S POV

I watched the vampire hunter's class from the classroom window and I watched that earlier fight. I was shocked by Kura's fighting skills, I thought to myself,"Whoa, so that's how Kura fights, she's...like me."

I thought as I watched her spar with another partner. Kura's fighting skills were amazing and she always keeps her guard up at all times and she was almost nimble as a cat the way she gracefully flips away from long range attacks, it made me want to watch her like this forever.

TIME SKIP...

I was on my way back to my room but then I saw Kura lying asleep on her bed with her sketching book lying wide open. I teleported to her room and Kura was sleeping peacefully. I looked at her sketching book and I quietly and carefully moved it out of her hands and I looked at the drawings she's done. I thought to myself,"Wow..these are amazing, how can a vampire hunter be this artistic?"

Just then I heard someone say,"Like what you see?" I turned to look and Kura was awake now. I said,"Uh, sorry, I didn't mean to-" She say up and said,"It's fine I expect you to be curious, so what do you think? Like them?" I looked back at the drawings and said,"They're amazing, how can draw this well?"

"My mother taught me but after I joined the vampire hunters I've sketched some places that I've seen, like this one for example, this is a drawing of a rare flower when I was on job." She says as she points at one of the drawings that Kura drew in the past. I then said,"I see, you've detailed this very well."

I said as I gave her back her sketching book. I then noticed a photograph on the night table I said,"I take it that's your mother?" Kura got the photograph and she handed it over to me and said,"Yeah, that was taken before mum found out she was pregnant with me."

"I see, now I know where you get your looks from." Kura smiled at this and said,"Thanks Subaru." I blushed and I turned away from her and then Kura laughed. I said,"W-what's so funny?"

"Sorry, it's just this is the first time I've seen you act this way before, call me crazy but I think you're some kind of shy boy." She said as she tried to chuckle quietly. I blushed and shouted,"Wha!? You spouting nonsense!"

"Hahaha!! Sorry, sorry, I can't help but tease you to be honest it kinds feels like having a brother next to me." She said as she turned her head away from me sadly. I was surprised at what she said. I said,"You don't have siblings?

"No, I'm the only child in the family, it kinda stinks sometimes I wished I had a big brother or a little sister, when I met you guys I was surprised that you're brothers at first I thought you were lucky but then again you're on bad terms with one another." Kura said. I looked away from her and said,"I can't argue with that."

KURA'S POV

I then said,"Hey Subaru, why did you come here?" He said,"I was on my way back until I saw you asleep so I when I saw your sketching book lying wide open I wanted to see what other drawings you did." I smiled and said,"I see, well, I'm glad you like them."

I said as I stood up from the bed and I put my stuff away and then Subaru saw the sealed envelopes and said,"Who are you writing to?" I looked back at him and said,"To my mentor and my best friend, I'm just letting them know how I'm doing and how I'm doing on the job, which by the way is going crappy." Just then I heard Subaru chuckle. "*Chuckles*."

"What?" I asked as I turned back to him and he said,"Nothing, I take it those two are the closest thing to family or something?" I nodded my head said,"Yeah, in some ways my mentor is like my father but he's more friendly and he gives me more attention and Ayame is like a sister to me she's been there for me when I first joined." Subaru understood what I was saying and he said,"I see, aren't you lucky."

"I am, um, Subaru?" I asked him and he said,"Yes?" "I know this is none of my business, but I've always wondered, what's your mother like?" Subaru didn't say anything he just adverted his look from me,"..."

I thought to myself,"Uh oh, touchy subject, me and my big mouth."

I placed my hand on Subaru's shoulder and said,"It's fine if you don't want to talk about her, I understand that look in your eyes." I moved my hand away from Subaru's shoulder but then he grabbed my hand and said,"Why?...Why are you so nice to me? I am nothing but a monster, why do you intend on trying to hang out with me..?"

I was surprised at what Subaru said. I gripped onto his hand and said,"I don't think you're a monster Subaru, even though you can be a bit rough at times but I know underneath all of that tough guy act, there's still a softer side to you in there and as to why I want to talk to you all the time, it's because I want to try and be friends with you and it's also because, we both have something in common."

"And what's that?" He asked. I then said,"Loneliness." Subaru's eyes widen at that comment and then he loosened his grip on my hand then he placed his hand on my cheek and then he looked into my eyes. Subaru leaned closer to me at first I thought he was going to aim for my neck but he was leaning towards my lips. Our lips were inches away but then someone said,"Ooh~ things are getting interesting up here."

"Eek!" I screamed in surprise and I shoved Subaru away from me and I turned to look and Laito was lying on my bed with a smirk on his face. Laito said,"Oh don't mind me, please continue."

"C-continue what?! W-we weren't doing anything!" Subaru stuttered and I stuttered as well saying,"W-What he said! N-nothing happened!"

"Are you sure? You two were acting all lovey dovey just now, are you sure you don't have a crush on the little hunter Subaru?" Laito said as he smirked at us. Subaru frowned with a hint of blush on his cheeks and he shouted,"I do not have a crush on her! Leave me alone!"

Subaru yelled and then he stormed out of the room in angrily. Laito laughed and then he said,"Finally, we're all alone." I glared at him angrily. Laito said,"What?" I pointed at the door and I said,"Get out!"

Laito pouted and said,"Aww, can't I stay?" I shouted angrily,"NOW!!" Laito saw the dark aura surrounding me and says,"Yes Ma'm!!" Laito dashed out of the room. I sighed and said,"Honestly, I feel like I'm surrounded by a bunch of idiots."

I looked at the sealed envelopes and I got the one that was sent in first class. I looked at the note that came with it, it was from my mentor. The note said,"This letter is from HIM, you don't have to read it if you don't want to, from your mentor, Sai."

I sighed and I opened the envelope. I read the letter and it said,"To my daughter, you left without saying a word to me, how could you do something like that? I've been going out of my mind since you left you were lucky I didn't call the police to make it public. Anyway, I've sent a private detective to find you and when he found your address I've written this letter to you to tell you to leave that hunter's group and come home immediately. A lady of your standards doesn't belong to people like them, I'll be expecting you at any day now, from your father, Yozo Takashi."

I frowned and I tore the letter and I scrunched the pieces and I flung them in the bin. I thought to myself,"Quit being a vampire hunter and go home? He can forget about it I refuse to go back to being a rich girl besides I've just gotten used to these vampires here even though they can be annoying but, in someways they can be nice towards me, if they want to show it that is."

I thought as I looked out of my window and I stared at the moon.
