Humanoid

Poe stayed in his slightly more human form and went to school with me like that. The Sakamakis didn't seem to care that my bird was now a humanoid being. Strange thing was, he was normal. No one seemed to notice his feathers or anything unusual about him. Just another student.

We met up with Yui at lunch under the Lonely Willow.

"Hey Poe, why don't people notice you're not fully human? And why do they keep calling you Edgar?" Yui blinked.

"The reason they don't freak out is because of a cloaking spell that makes me look like a new student. And, since my full name is Edgar Allan Poe, they call me Edgar." He ran a hand through his short black hair.  "Poe's just a nickname Liu gave me." He smiled. "Liu, you may not have been the one to free me, but you're fun to be around at least." I felt my face become hot with embarrassment as I remembered he was only here because I saved his life. Yui looked at me, and seemed to sense how the topic made me uncomfortable.

"Sorry, I guess." He stopped smiling and looked at me.

"Oh you didn't need to say you were sorry." Poe was completely oblivious.

"Sorry I couldn't free you from hundreds of years of servitude."

"Liu, I didn't mean-"

"It's fine." I snapped. Poe looked slightly hurt, but shut his mouth.

"Hey...uh...maybe we can go find the others?"
Yui faked a smile.

"Hey Edgar! Why you hanging out with My Chemical Romance over here?" A boy walked up, and I recognized him as the asshole who decided to bully me. He threw my blazer into a pile of garbage, stole my school shoes, and enacted a dozen other pranks. But on top of that, when he beat me up, somehow he made it seem like I beat them. His name was Satoru. I called him Asshoru "Come on! The boys wanna meet you." He beckoned to Poe, who simply smiled charmingly and politely declined. But Asshoru became persistent "Aww! Come on man! Who are you? Her Boyfriend?" Poe nodded.

"Yes I am. Satoru, I am not interested in your offer. And please don't call my mas-Liu that stupid name." His smile dissolved "You don't want to know what's going to happen if you do." Asshoru nodded frantically, a look of terror on his face, and ran back to the gaggle of boys that usually gathered on the field.

"What did you show him?" Asshoru looked so scared.

"The face you're seeing." Poe sighed. "I just wish it wasn't so damn scary."
