Arrival
Quoth the raven, Nevermore
"Liu, we're here." Stupid attendant. I can't even hear my damn music! I closed my book of poems and slid off my headphones. The metal caught on my short black hair. I carried my only possessions on my body:
A book of poems by Edgar Allan Poe
A silver ornamental dagger
My black hoodie
My Walkman and Headphones
I jumped out of the car and as soon as it turned around, flipped it the bird.
I knocked on the door. It's common courtesy to stay quiet when you're at someone else's house. I stayed silent as the door slowly creaked open. I could feel someone watching me. I turned to see a redhead staring at me. He was wearing a felt fedora and a fur-lined jacket under his uniformed blazer.
"Nufufu~Hello there." He smiled, and his green eyes glinted. There was something dangerous about him. "You must be the bitch they sent in." I felt as if I should be insulted, but his words were sickly sweet. It was almost as if he was mocking me.
"Just goes to show gingers have no souls." He recoiled at my sharp response. I turned again, and he was gone. I smirked. I wouldn't be getting trouble from him anytime soon. I walked into what seemed to be a common area. There was a pale blonde man on the sofa. He had earbuds on and a blazer wrapped around his shoulders like a shawl. He wasn't moving, and his chest didn't rise and fall like he was beathing. He was strangely pale. But, I've been in the same room as corpses before. I decided not to disturb his eternal rest, and put my headphones on. I pressed 'play' on my Walkman.
...
Your breath is warm like an oven
Your kiss is sugary sweet
Your fingers feel like cotton
When you put your arms around me
I feel like I'm just missing
Something whenever you leave
We've got all the ingredients
Except you loving me
...
So, respectfully...
The headphones were shoved away from my ears, and the blonde man was on top of me now. I saw now that he had beautiful blue eyes.
He said nothing, but leaned his head close to my neck. He was barely breathing. I stretched it out, and whispered
"Bite me." He was so close, I could feel his cold lips on my neck. Then, a sharp pain exploded into my neck. A quiet slurping noise ensued. I knew he just wasn't human. I stayed still, knowing if I moved, it would hurt more. He pulled away a few seconds later.
"Your blood is delicious, Liu. It's savory, and not sweet." He pulled my hoodie away and bit my collarbone. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the pain. It's a sign that I had a life worth living.
