~~~Poe POV~~~

I hear yelling. I don't have long to make a decision. I began to cut her rope. Wait- is my body really worth her life? No. I grabbed a branch and began to shove my old body off the cliff. If I touch its heart, I'll get it back. But now I know what I looked like. I can become a fraction of myself again.

Instead, I touched its forehead. I know my real name. I know who was there. I know them. They know me! Memories flooded back into my head. I let go and grabbed the line holding Liu. I pulled her hand off the spine and began to haul her up.

"Hello, Poe." Laito. "Or should I say, Aikoe. Do you remember me now?" I pulled Liu up and wrapped her hand in a bandage. "Aiko. Aiko! Aiko!!"

I knew it was true. I pulled Liu onto my lap. She was breathing heavily. Exhausted.

"Save your effort, demon." A tall, dark-violet haired man stood behind me.

"Reiji."

"So you can talk normally. Step away from her."

I was drained of blood by the rowdy redhead whose name eludes me. It weakened me to the point where I had to stop struggling. The lazy one, Shu, I think, carried Liu away. They threw me into the big cage again and chained my hands to the sides. I heard a yell of anger and then a yelp. Reiji appeared, carrying a bleeding and shivering Liu. He opened the cage and threw her in roughly. She whimpered, and curled up into a little ball. They had stripped her of warm clothing, and now she was wearing only a t-shirt and pants. It must've been almost freezing temperature in there. He shut the door and growled at me. I tried to move myself towards her, but the cuffs restricted my movement. Blood began to pool around the helpless vampire. Instead of moving, I morphed a lizard tail, save for the scales, and wrapped it around her chest. I pulled her closer and saw she had blood dripping from her mouth and nose. She had several wounds on her legs, arms, and chest.

"P-p..oe..." She coughed, sending more blood out her mouth. My tail disappeared, and I held her in my arms. I began to morph into what my old self looked like. My arms and legs grew longer, and my face a little wider. I caressed her face, wiping the blood away. She's shivering, and her eyes are closed. I wrapped my wings and feathered legs around her in the hopes it would warm her. I covered the cuts on her chest with my arms and kissed her on the forehead. Her skin's colder than usual. It's like touching a cube of ice.

"So. Kanato really did a number on her, eh?" The albino.

"Subaru." He was tearing up. "How can you say you love her when you've locked her in here?"

"I tried to defend her!" He yelled, sending his fist through the bricks on the wall, "Stupid Reiji just had to get his way, as for fucking usual!" His voice softened. "I don't want to leave her here so injured, so here," he handed me a big roll of bandages. "Please, patch her up." I nodded. This guy's actually nice. I remember knowing him way back before I was a demon.

"Thanks." I wrapped the bandages around her stomach while Subaru watched.

"You're not a bad guy." I looked up. "I knew you back then, Aiko. You were nice. You accepted me." He smiled sadly. "You helped me. Keep Liu safe, okay?" I used a claw to cut the bandage and I wrapped her arms and legs. Her face had a huge bloody cut, right across her right eye, so I wrapped it, her hair bunching up around it. After I had patched her up, I pulled her close. Her skin was lukewarm against mine. She opened her garnet eye, the left one that wasn't covered.

"Poe?" She coughed and turned her head. "Subaru, I'm sorry." He reached his hand into the cage and placed it on her forehead.

"I forgive you."

"I'm going to die here." She chuckled.

"Don't say that!" Subaru ran his hand along her face, brushing aside her raven hair.

"But I've lost so much blood to Shu and Ayato. And on top of that, the healing can't keep up with these wounds because I'm so thirsty." Her body tensed in pain. She coughed, and even more of her blood sprayed from her mouth. It splattered on my face. I held her closer, cradling her head on my shoulder.

"Hang in there, Liu."
