Jamie's POV:
My, my, this is quite strange....

I thought while browsing some books, but deep down I felt very awkward around Reiji ever since we got to the office room. Nevertheless, I won't let my fears for the best of me, I have to be strong and keep my guard up for the sake of my friends.

While browsing some books that Ayesha's grandmother keeps, I heard Reiji humming right to me for a second as he stares at the book.

"The Fault in Our Stars? What is that?" He asked curiously as I spun my head to see Reiji holding a light blue book where I formed a grin and approach him where I peered over to where he's staring at.

"You never read this book before?" I asked curiously.

"Not exactly, what is the plot for this novel?" He asked politely.

"Well...I did read it once and from what I read, it's about this teen girl with cancer who attends a support group where she meets and fall in love with an ex basketball player who is an amputee. It's quite a heartwarming story." I explain to him as Reiji tilts his head with his hand on his chin.

"So it's a love story?" He asked while staring at the book.

"Yes, but...it's okay if you don't like it. I'm not trying to get you to read it." I reassured him feeling guilty for what I said, but he doesn't seem to be bothered about it.

"No, it's quite alright. I'm just curious that's all." He assured her as he puts the book back to the shelf.

"So what kind of books do you usually read?" I asked curiously.

"Hmmm I don't have a favorite, I usually browser books and read them whenever I feel like it." He replied as I grinned gently at him.

"Same, I don't really have a favorite as well, but I do love reading them. It's quite refreshing and it really helps my stress a lot." I told him.

"Stress?" He asked.

"Yeah, I've been working hard for my entire life so reading has stuck with me since my childhood." I stated with a light grin reminiscing one of my childhood memories. Soon something caught my eye when I pull out a book to recognized a book that I read a long time ago.

"I can't believe this...Ayesha has been reading the Northern Lights!" I exclaimed while having my eyes glued to the cover with stars beaming from my eyes.

"Northern Lights? What's that?" He asked confusingly as I turn to him with a grin.

"Oh it's a fantasy novel that I read all the time since I was little. I even also read this book to my little sister whenever it's bedtime during my freshman year of high school." I explain to him as I squeezed the book so close to my chest hugging it with a gentle smile while remembering the warm memories of me and my little sister. She was a bundle of sunshine that brings everyone to joy and laughter, but...now it feels so quiet without her around...

Reiji tilts his head curiously at me.

"You have a little sister?" He asked curiously as I nod lightly with a slight grin.

"Yeah, her name is Cecelia. We use to play with each other, I read her different types of books while she listens in, and...she always have a bright smile her face that you couldn't help but smile with her. Heck even my friends have fun hanging out with her..." I explain to him while remembering the times I shared with Cecelia. I really missed her, I miss goofiness, I miss cheeriness, I miss her jokes, and I definitely miss hugging her goodnight. If only mother were here, she would tell me and my father that everything is gonna be okay.

"Now that she's gone, my father has been working hard to take care of us while I have to work part time and attending school to support my family..." I sadly told him while trying really hard not to break down from my heartbreaking memories of Cecelia's death as I glance down at the floor not wanting Reiji to see me like this. However, Reiji immediately knew I was holding back, but he didn't say anything and shift his eyes at in silence.

"...My condolences Jamie, I didn't mean to offend you.." He apologized where I widen my eyes and raise my head in surprise and disbelief and Reiji became shocked at what he said.

Did he just show sympathy for me?...T-This isn't real...This is not what I expected...

I thought in disbelief as we both stood awkwardly for a moment before I snapped out of my thoughts and clear my throat to cut the awkward tension where I smiled gently at Reiji.

"Why thank you Reiji...but there's nothing for you to apologize for." I reassured him as he adjust his glasses before he replies.

"I'm glad you aren't mad at me. After all, I am quite an honest man..." He stated with an awkward tone while trying to act stern about it which I couldn't but giggled softly.

"Well I think you're aren't too bad for a vampire, but thank you for feeling that way. It was kinda nice." I said to him with a grin as Reiji blinks twice and scratches the back of his head.

"I..thank you for the compliment." He thanked me with a light blush across his cheeks which I couldn't help but smile a bit. Heck I'm quite surprised that he actually stuttered for the first time. 😂

Jeez seeing Reiji's softer side isn't what I expect from him. Honestly, I find it pretty adorable.

I thought with a grin as I put the Northern Lights novel on the first shelf and grab the Fault I'm Our Stars novel from the second shelf. Then I walk up to the bespectacled ravenette while holding the book in my hands.

"So Reiji since we're here, wanna read the book that you got curious of? It might peek your interest." I persuade him with a sly smirk which had Reiji blushing lightly and shifting his eyes.

"If it amuses you that much, then I guess I should do a preview on this novel you speak of." He agreed which I giggled softly in response.

Goodness he's adorable.

I thought in my mind while smiling as I went to the chair and Reiji follow along as he pulled a chair right next to me. I turn to Reiji with a kind grin.

"Shall we start?" I asked politely with Reiji grinning gently at me.

"Absolutely." He replied as I open to the first page of the book with Reiji holding the other side of the book, we both read quietly where the night start of with a peaceful yet heartwarming moment.
