Ghosts
A cool breeze sucked the heat from my body. I gripped my twin sisters soft hand, her reassuring grip feeling like a warm blanket on a cold winter knight. We stood before an old manor, the dark wooden walls chipped and cracked. The rough stone walls were like a barrier to another world, one lost to time. The place screamed, "Go away! You aren't welcome here!" but we continued on our chilling trek up the path.
My gaze shifted to an upper window. It was emitting a soft glow, and was one of the few still intact. Despite this it seemed even darker than the rest of the manor. Either way, we had to make it to the rusty iron gate. If we did, we would be praised as the bravest in our class for all eternity.
The ghostly hands of unkempt grass and long vines reached out to grab us, but we pushed on.
SNAP!
A stick broke under my foot and we ran.
