Devotion #47 - Disciples of God

7/12/2021

God is amazing, God is brilliant, He makes true Disciples out of each and every one of us, and He loves us all equally. What I learned yesterday was that we can become His disciples by abiding by His Word and following His instructions to the point. We just need to wait and have patience for when He tells us what to do. Sure I read an article paragraph that stated how we believe that God is interfering so slowly but that is what we all think. God is doing things His way and His promises will be fulfilled. All we have to do is follow His instructions on what He says. I have been guilty of not listening to His instructions and not following them at all and so has my father, heck even my entire family is probably guilty of it. Maybe even every Christian in the entire world is guilty of not listening. It's okay though, God always knows when we are going to listen to Him and when we are not going to listen to Him. Still, He always gives us a chance to do the right thing. Take King Saul for instance. He had disobeyed God one too many times and God wanted to give him one final shot at obedience. He ordered Samuel to tell Saul that God has commanded him to utterly destroy the Amalekites, for their ways and for attacking the Isrealites when they had left Egypt, and leave not one man, nor animal, alive. Saul took out the army and, for the most part, did just that. Except he let King Agag live and kept the best sheep and oxen alive as to use to sacrifice to God. It was Saul's disobedience that paved the way for the story of Esther that was yet to come 150 years later. Because of his disobedience, God had taken away Saul's crown and gave it to David after Saul died in battle. This is why we got to follow His instructions to the point, cause the second we do not do so, then major severe consequences shall befall upon us. However, the moment we repent of our sins, God will always forgive us because He loves us and is patient with us all the time. All we have to do in return is follow God, follow His commands, and love Him more than we love our own family members. We are all Disciples of Christ. I am a Disciple of Christ. Are you? "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." - Matthew 28:19-20a

Amen
