Devotion #28 - Putting God first
4/26/2021
Putting God first in all areas of your life is pretty hard in doing so if you have so much of this world living within you. Trust me, I know first-hand how hard it is because I have a lot of books on my phone that are not Christian Fiction and I read them a lot. I can't seem to get away from this sort of thing. It's so addicting, that is the way the world today is. It's become an addiction so bad that it's hard for us to put God first. Like right now, I'm trying to fend off the thoughts the Devil is trying to place within my mind of what I have either read, watched online, heard, or fantasized about. It's hard fending off the Devil but when you have God on your side, and truly believe that He is with you, it's not that hard to fend it off. An article I read about stated that God would fight our battles for us and carry the weight of things that we used to carry before we became Christians. My dad said that when he helped save a co-worker of his, after praying a prayer of salvation, he felt so much lighter that it was like a burden was lifted off of him. When we start out as Christians, our hearts are on fire for God but as we continue down our path, that is where our struggles come in and it becomes harder and harder for our hearts to be on fire for the Lord. That is where we have trouble in putting God first in our lives. Matthew 10:37 says "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me." This is the one area aspect that all families must do, they must put the love of God first before their loved ones. That is kind of hard to do so when your family has unconditional love for you but your earthly family's love is nothing compared to the love God has for you. It is more than this entire plant combined with many others out there. Actually, His love for us is greater than the universe itself. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16. So, if you are struggling to put God first in your life, I just want to let you know that you are not alone.
Amen
