Devotiom #75 - Lying

Devotion – 9/21/21 to 9/22/2021

Lying can easily be found out in this world. Lying can easily destroy your relationship between family and friends. I was very well-known for being a liar in my high school sophomore year and it almost destroyed my relationship between me and my family as well as God. It's all being repaired one day at a time. But like I said, lying is easily be found out in this world and it is hard to even lie to the Lord and His Son. God knows everything about us, even when we are lying. Think about it, He knew us before we were even formed and when we were in the womb. God has always known about the paths we would take regarding our decisions and wishes to influence us the best He can. But, ultimately, it's our own free will of whether or not we make the decision to lie. If we do lie, then we would ultimately feel this guilt coming out at us begging us to tell the truth immediately. That guilt we feel, is God telling us to tell the truth. He talks to us through our conscience and through that, we ultimately must make the right decision regarding the situation we put ourselves in by lying. Lying is one of the greatest sins ever known, even if it's only regarded as a small thing in our world, in Heaven, it's a big sin. "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." – Exodus 20:16 KJV. That verse is a Commandment of one the 10 Commandments created by God on a Stone Tablet. False witness is either lying, withholding the truth, or manipulating the truth just to get what you desire in life. (Reference: ) By breaking this Commandment, we are straining our relationship with the Lord and hurting others in this world along the way. Even if we don't know that we are lying, it still would count as lying. Lying has nearly torn my family apart because of me being a liar and it has also hurt my relationship with the Lord. Don't let the same thing happen to you and your earthly family as well as your relationship with God. Tell the truth, no matter what the consequences are and be honest in your life about the things you did today and the things you want to do in your life for God. Sit your family down and talk about your life and what you have lied about and what you want to do to make it up to them. Listen to what your conscience has to say, cause I can guarantee that God has a whole lot to say about lying to your family and to Him. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." – Matthew 22:37 – NIV.

Amen
