CHAPTER THIRTEEN
BORO POINT OF VIEW
"DOFF TEAM WAS ATTACKED EARLIER." When he heard those words part of him broke. He couldn't believe what she said. There was no way. They failed. They couldn't have. Pym needed to be alive. He felt angry.
"We have to go back?" He questioned her. Only to see her turn back widening her eyes in disbelief. "We can't!" She then proceeded to walk around thinking. There was something she wasn't saying to him. She knew she was hiding something. He needed to know.
They had remained in the ship for a few hours. He couldn't stand sitting there not doing anything. He didn't have Pym. He didn't have Gwen. He had enough of this. He sat down on a bench when a woman sat beside him. He didn't bother to face her. "It seems like you are in a bad mood." He sighed. He leaned back turning to face the woman. She was indeed beautiful for a Viking, and spoke perfectly. With long reddish-brownish hair, blue crystal eyes. Smooth skin. "My name is Helena." She admitted.
"What seems to bother you?" He turned back staring at the ground. The ship began to move uncontrollably leaving him to sigh, frustrated. "Some things never work out for our purpose." Her eyes seem to fallen down, she began to sighed. "There is no need for that, Boro. Our lord does not judge based on our actions but the outcome of our hearts." He raised his eyebrow, questioning her. Lord? Who is this girl? Something is wrong. "You don't even know me, Helena." He replied.
"You surprise me, Boro." She replied, smirking Boro raised his eyebrows. "In what ways?" Helena smiled innocently. "Losing her must have hurt very much." He didn't know what she was talking about.
"The Red Spear." She finished, she began to walk away only to stop to turn around. "She loved you." He quickly got up grabbing her hand before she walked away. "Do I know you?"
She smiled. "I'm surprised you forget about me, Mordred." That name, he hasn't gone by in years. When he crossed the sea, he decided to go by the nickname his parents used to call him when he was younger, he made sure Gwen didn't go by her real name either. She showed a smirk and began walking leaving him thoroughly confused. Who is this girl?
Few hours had passed. He followed the red speak walking into her room. He decided to slip in.
"There something you're hiding?" He questioned closing the door. Immediately, she turned around, showing a smirk.
"Who told you to come to my room?" She questioned.
He smirked. "You know very well that you're hiding something. What is it?" She began to smile. "That's not of your concern." When he said those words, she began to walk away only to have his helm grabbed onto her wrist.
"You know something. Tell me, I'll help you. I won't run away this time." She looked at him studying him. When Boro looked into her eyes, he saw he sane girl he has fallen for when he was teenager. Even though they were both in their early thirties, she still looked as beautiful as she could be. She was the same woman whom he loved when he was younger, he did regret leaving her all those years ago.
"Do you ever regret it?"
He let out her hand slowly thinking. "Regret? Leaving you?" She nodded amused. "I did. I know, I did. You see it was the hardest thing I could ever do. I loved my family, I loved you. I needed to leave to protect Gwen. I knew you would have never forgiven me if I chose to leave like that."
"Your coward!" she began to yell, showing her personality. "You took away the only family I ever had. You knew better than that." His heart broke showing a tidal wave of emotions. "You know you're wrong!" Once he said those words, he began to close in. "You pushed me away! You broke my heart first when you didn't care for me or Gwen! You did this!"
"Don't you blame it on me!" She roared. "Cumber pushes us apart. You know that." He began to breathe heavily. He remembers him when he was younger. Their clan leader. He remembers his daughters clearly, all girls who treated him as equal. He couldn't forget Eydis, she was a special woman in his life. Cumber treated him almost like a son.
"Do you get it? You tore this family apart!" She opens the door leaving him open to his thoughts. Thinking . . . Did he? Was he the reason his parents got killed. Why would Gwen be in the need of protection? Unless it was him? Unless they're trying to protect him.
He ran back to grab her by the hand. "You know very well this is the fault of both of us." She laughed. "It seems like she burns with ice and fire." He slowly backed away. "I could feel it, Boro. Our Gwen is alive." He began to smile widely showing some happiness.
It's been an hour, when they received word. Cumber army is attacking within a few miles away s against a Fey army. "We must fight. Rallied the men." The Red Spear then handed a sword to Boro. "Here grab this." Boro took an axe on his right hand in nodding at her. He noticed the girl from earlier squeaking in the corner unsure what to do. "Helena?" He walked over to see her fixed her posture present her. "Good day, Mordred." He rolled his eyes. "Get ready? For battle." He then handed her his sword. She was unsure what to do.
"I'm sorry, I've never fought before." He looked at her, confused. "Your viking?" She looked at him. "Yes. I know. I've never been allowed to fight, I always cleaned and made food for everybody." Immediately, he frowned his eyebrows. She was the maid that made food and washed the clothes. A delicate girl. He took his bracelet from his hand, he kept it there for a while.
"What is this?" She looked at it seeing a silver item, that held like the structure of a man's face. "I carried this around. It protects me, tells me, to hold on to hope. It's Ragnar Lobrok. The greatest Viking warrior, ever known." He began to tied around her hand tightly, so it wouldn't go off. "It protects me. It's going to protect you." He smiled young showing her some kindness. She smiled at him showing some appreciation. They didn't know then it was beginning of new era for the both them.
They began to get ready. "The ship is about to sail, Captain." A young man assured the red Spear. "Get ready, my fighters! Let's go."
