CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Marie had gathered around Eydis who laid on the bed in pain. "Please be brave, Eydis."
Eydis screamed loudly clutching on the bedsheets. She closed her eyes and cried as another pain rushed through her, her bottom half naked to all in the large.
"Push, Eydis!" Marie spoke. "I see it." Eydis closed her eyes, screaming."Get it out of me!"
As an hour went by, Eydis was finally ready to push. Marie placed a piece of wood into Eydis mouth and whispered in her ears. "Bite down on this, Eydis, this will hurt." Eydis took in a few breaths and bit down on the wood, pushing her chin to her chest with her eyes closed as she growled.
Eydis screams would echo through the castle that night as she pushed with all of her might, trying to give birth to her firstborn. It was nearly thirty minutes later when she gave a mighty scream and pushed the hardest she could. "I will die on this bed," She cried out, a fearful look on her face, the pain feeling unbearable to her since it was her first time giving birth. "Listen to me," Marie demanded, a stern look on her face, "You will not die. You will survive. You are strong."
"My father will kill me," She repeated. "Push!"
"It's here! I can see the head!" Marie exclaimed happily, "Push, push!" Eydis look weakly nodded, obeying the woman's order. She cried out loudly, wasting no time pushing harder than she had ever done before. Soon after, the child was born.
A baby girl.
Marie caught her just before he fell onto the bed and began to clean, wrapping the small baby in a warm sheet. "Eydis, she's beautiful. She looks just like you when you were born." Marie held the small child in her hands holding it. "Do you want to see her?" She leaned forward to hand her the small baby. Eydis turned away. "No!"
Marie looked shocked. "Eydis. It's a girl. A beautiful one. Your little baby girl." She tried to reason with her. Eydis refused to look.
"I refused the child to be mine. You have to take her in." Marie looked horrified. "What?" She still held the child in her hands.
Eydis pleaded. "You must. You see. My father would kill me for getting pregnant at this age. Keep the child. Marie, please." Marie looked once more at the little girl, observing it. Little specks of silver-haired can be seen.
"You can't be serious," Marie tried to reason. "She is beautiful, you can't leave her like that. Eydis, please. This little girl will be strong, like her mother. She will need you." Marie confessed.
"I'm irresponsible. She needs a mother, I can't be that for her." Eydis bluntly responded.
"And her father," Marie spoke up. After a moment of silence, Eydis sighed. "This is why you should take it. She will at least grow up with her father." Marie looked curiously at her, shaking.
"What do you mean? Who is her father?" She asked, holding the small child in her hands.
"It's Boro."

"I won't hurt you. Trust me."
She knew what she was going to do. It will either be her demise or salvation. Slowly, she took his hand. A burning sensation blasted within her, shocking her. They both met in their eyes, memorized for a long moment. "We have to go!"
He pulled her along holding her hand grabbing her. They both stood outside the tent. She bent down, sighing. "Okay? Where is he?" She asked. He looked around before pursing his lips, unsure. "The tent over there. Brother Salt, we must go." He immediately changed his tone running to the other tent. Gwen felt like something was wrong.
They stood outside the tent waiting. "You stay here!" She looked at him surprised but pursed her lips, smirking. "I'm not staying here. I want to help. Squirrels are the only family I have left. I want to protect him." Soon after, he sighed. The weeping monk watched her eyes seeing her in pain, breathing heavily.
She is hurt
"You can't possibly believe you can help him? You have no weapon or knife?" He told her calmly hovering over her. Comparing their height felt a diver for her. She held her breath, unsure of what to do. "He is my family." She told him, grinning her teeth. He leaned forward being inches away from her.
"You're not an inexperienced fighter." He told her with honesty. Gwen scoffed. "Says who? I've more experience than you. I don't have a sword. I have lived too long and this will not be the end." The weeping monk looked at her with admiration. She is willing to fight.
"We shouldn't be arguing. We must save your little friend." He told her with confidence. She sighed knowing fully well he had won. She pursues her lips, smirking at his response. "Well stated." She spoke, smirking.
She watched as his expression turned serious-looking directly at her. "I won't let you. Listen to me, I'm not the person you think, I am. I can protect the kid. I will kill Brother Salt and save the boy." He held her by his hands, she looked at him uneasily. She still didn't know why? Why has he turned to her side? He turned around making sure she stayed put. She did. She didn't know than something inside of her exploded, a weird tingle feeling of fire, it felt warm and soft.
She felt safe around him. It was her and him. Nothing will change that. "Gwen!" A voice called out. Squirrel came running out right into her arms. "Oh god," she embraced him smiling out of happiness. He is alive. She smiled out of happiness as tears fell down her cheeks. He looked at her. "I'm so glad you're okay." She told him, softly. He smiled. "Don't cry, Gwen. I'm here. Remember it's me and you?" She immediately smiled remembering those words, she said to him long ago.
"It's you and me," she repeated those words one last time, smiling.
