Waking up to the smell of charred wood wasn't thrilling, or in the least bit exciting. If anything, it woke me up quicker then my morning coffee. The first thing I heard was a scream, and then the stench of charcoal.
To my surprise, Kishi was up and awake, grabbing the essentials while conpletely ignoring my sleeping figure on the couch. In a dismantled and overall confused heap, I jumped up and kicked the coffee table on accident, giving a brief curse before looking up at my speeding roommate.
"What a lovely morning." I frown, taking a quick glance out the window. For a second, I paused, tuning out the sly comment from my roommate as I watched the flames dance on the complex neighbouring ours. I couldn't look away, it was almost hypnotizing.
Wasn't fire supposed to be orange?
"Bat brain! Are you even listening to me?!" I whipped around just in time to catch my wallet and shoes from an enraged roommate. I quickly slipped my sneakers on and looked up at Kishi whilst fumbling with my shoe laces.
"What the hell happened?" I asked, an obvious but much needed question. Brushing deep purple bed head out of his face, he scoffed and glared out the window.
"Fucking bullshit, that's what. I was cooking two minute noodles when that fucktard Dabi lit the neighbours up like the fourth of fucking July." He replied sourly, quickly shoving his coat on and heading for the door.
I followed with haste, taking one final glance at the apartment before sighing and following after. There were people trying to take the elevator like morons, so we ran down the stairs. With Kishi leaving me for dead as he used his quirk, making me phase through his clone.
Scowling, I ran down the rest of the stairs, dodging anyone who was too slow. Dashing outside, I saw Kishi watching the blue flames completely reap the complex. Firefighters had arrived at the scene, but it was way too late.
"I think that went swimmingly." A voice chuckled, making me groan as I turned around and faced the towering figure. A smirk adorned his crusty and stapled face, while crystal blue eyes looked down at me. Grimacing, I hit him in the arm, causing him to wince.
"Ow! Hey-"
"Jackass, what the fuck are you doing here?!" I whispered harshly, making him pull his leather hood over his head whilst holding a finger to his lips. Before I got the chance to have a say, his hand roughly grabbed the front of my hoodie, swiftly dragging me to an alleyway. Back hit against a wall, I was pinned to the wall with my feet barely touching the ground.
"Alright, so, don't freak out next time and I won't have to man handle you." He sighed, grinning as he released me and left me to scowl and fix my hoodie.
"Don't try and burn down my place and i won't have to freak out." I countered, gaining a small chuckle from him. I crossed my arms over my chest and frowned, nodding to the firefighters and citizens. "So, I believe I've earned an explanation." With a sigh, he gave a simple shrug.
"Just debt collecting, nothing too bad." He answered lightly, as if the situation was simple and just a minor kink in the works.
"Are you fucking kid-"
"Y/N?"
Both of us turned toward a the voice, who was just a silhouette shadowed by the blue flames. Stepping forwards, the once smiley face of Sero appeared, however, he seemed quite upset. His darkened eyes were narrowed at Dabi, who just watched with amusement.
"Sero?" I asked, making him soften his gaze as he glanced to me. He took another step forward, but Dabi doing so as well stopped him.
"You. Get away from her." He said sternly, focusing on the taller male. Dabi reaction was to laugh. More in a sarcastic manner.
"Oh yeah?" He asked, amused. It happened so fast that I almost missed it, but I definetely felt it. In a second, an arm held me in a chokehold as I felt my back hit hard flesh and a warmth enveloped the right side of my face.
"Dude what the fuck?! Chill, chill!" I coughed, trying my best to struggle out of the iron grip Dabi had on me.
"Y/N!"
"Ah, ah, ah, lover boy." Dabi tutted, halting Sero's very short burst of speed towards us. The flame only got bigger and hotter the closer Sero got. "I'll let her go, on one condition." He said calmly, making me frown.
"Man, the fuck I look like-"
"What is it?" Sero replied, switching his gaze from me to the scorched traitor holding me in a somewhat tight chokehold. It was clear to say that I had given up by now on the struggling part. As much as I hated the guy right now, there was another, very still, silhouette a few feet behind Sero watching with burning deep purple eyes that made me sure I wouldn't be harmed. A deep chuckle rung low in my ears, making me shiver.
"You forget any of this happened. I know who that guy was, and how important he was to your little group." He sneered, the event fresh in his mind. "And the girl is yours. Have we got a deal, dispenser?" He asked in a hushed tone.
Having paused, Sero gave a glance to me, and then back to Dabi, who I could feel giving a wicked grin. Scoffing, he nodded slowly, his gaze set on the villain.
"Fine. You got yourself a deal." He replied firmly, not blinking. "Now hand her over, if you know what's good for 'ya." Chuckling, I was roughly shoved, ready to land face first from the sudden impact. The ground never came, and I found myself in the tight arms of Sero, who caught me as he glared at Dabi.
"So long, losers." Was all I heard before the shadow of the dark clad male disappeared out of sight. I was lifted up to my feet and to the eye level of dark and searching orbs.
"Are you alright there, love? Did he hurt you? I swear I'll-"
"I'm fine, I swear." I cut in, turning around so I could throw my arms around the taller man. Taken aback, he slowly returned the hug, burying the side of his face into my hair. "Thank you, though. That was really kind of you, Sero." I murmured, relishing in the warmth.
"Call me Hanta, please." He murmured, relaxing into the hug. It all seemed to go quiet for a moment, the shock of the situation dulled down until it-
"Am I seeing things or is my girl getting that D?"
Immediately letting go and flushing a dark red, we turned to the sound of the voice, my teeth gritting.
"Goddamnit, Kishi, can't I have anything anymore?" I growled, watching as the flames far behind him grew and flowed with the wind. I heard Hanta besides me chuckle as he shrugged his jacket off and carefully placed it on my shoulders. I froze at the weight, but relished the hands on my shoulder.
"C'mon, a lady shouldn't be out here in her pyjamas like this, let's get you somewhere more comfortable." He said gently, making heat rise to my cheeks once more as I nodded quickly.
Seemingly evaporating from the scene, we walked through a few small alleyways and made it to the skyscraper I once used to envy and despise. It stood as menacingly as ever, but it didn't faze me anymore. Not like it used to do.
"Ladies first." Hanta smirked, myself chuckling as I walked through the elevators, my reflection making me frown. I looked horrible, with unkept hair, bags under my eyes and in pyjamas, I looked like I had just been dragged off the streets. The only thing looking strikingly good being the leather jacket.
Hanta in his white long sleeve dress shirt, black suspenders and black dress pants grinning at my dismay. Without glancing away he pressed the elevator button and stepped closer, his tape dispensing elbows touching mine. The elevator jolted up, the only sound being the drone of the gears as we rocketed up.
I watched as the male casually pressed a black button on the pad, making the movement stop and the main lights turning off, leaving us both in a darker box.
"Hey, what's-"
"Have you ever felt so strongly about someone, that you abandon every thought to think about them?" He asked wistfully, back to me as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Everytime they cross your mind, you just can't concentrate properly. Like they've taken your mind, and they don't even know it."
I held my breath, and I wasn't even aware. He spoke so... calmly, as if I wasn't even here. Turning around, he stared at me, with a smile so sweet I might have had teeth cavities.
"Well... that's how I feel. And more specifically, about you." He stepped closer once more, and I felt my back hit the wall as I looked up into glazed black orbs, heart hammering in my chest. "I... you make me feel like a thousand men, and I want you in my life. As something so much more."
As if the confession wasn't enough to make me forget how to function, he held my chin softly, tilting it up to him, hot breaths fanning my lips. His gaze flickered from my lips back to my eyes, whilst I was frozen and dumbfounded at the smoothness this man possessed.
"Can I kiss you?"
After comprehending what was just about to happen, I nodded, which barely looked like a nod. Not wasting another second, he pressed his to mine, a warmth spreading from my head to my toes as I held a hand to his cheek.
Pulling away, we both couldn't hide the smile that graced both our faces, with myself throwing my body into his, which resulted in a tight hug.
"I... know how you feel." I pause, smiling into his shoulder. "because I love you, Hanta." I heard a deep chuckle, and then felt him bury his face into the side of my head and into my hair.
"I love you too, Y/N."
