Overprotectiveness And Green Eyes.

Lily's POV

Waking up the next morning was an ordeal. It was the last day of school before the weekend and Jason had decided that it would be hilarious to throw the blankets off of me and pull the windows open. Once the cold air swept across my mostly bare legs and arms, goosebumps rose along my skin, leaving me shivering. I looked down to see that my shirt had ridden up dangerously high. I looked back up to see Jason standing their with a shocked look on his face. He turned away and I quickly pulled my shirt back down. Seriously? Did I have to go through this kind of humiliation this early in the morning?

I quickly got up from the bed, tying my hair back, just to see the rest of the guys frozen at the foot of the bed with pillows held high in the air. They had their mouths hung open and were probably ready to attack me with their pillows. Asher then said,

"How can you wake up so easily?"

I thought I saw a faint blush on his cheeks but I quickly threw that idea away, considering that he was even more emotionless than Cole. I just shrugged, got up and went straight to the bathroom. The guys were already dressed and had their bags in their arms, meaning that they had already gone back to their house's and gotten ready for school. I grabbed some jeans, a white blouse and a black high neck to wear underneath. Brushing my teeth and getting dressed, I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed my bag. I went downstairs, greeting Angelina and Simon with a smile. They smiled right back, inviting me to have breakfast. As usual, I refused and walked towards the door only to get blocked by four muscular guys with their arms crossed in front of their chests. Asher said,

"No way are you going to school alone today. Did you forget what happened last time? Besides, you need to eat breakfast and we still have a full hour before the first lesson starts."

I just sighed, knowing they wouldn't let me leave alone. I held up my wallet and said,

"You all wanna go out for breakfast? My treat."

The hard looks on their faces dropped to excited one's. Seriously, someone could buy their cars in exchange for food. I couldn't say that I wasn't the same. Cole grabbed my arm, walking me to his car. Seeing what he was doing, I said,

"Nuh uh. I always walk in the mornings. Who would want to miss out on the amazing weather?"

Cole, Jason and Ryan looked at Asher in confusion. He just shrugged, mouthing "crazy" to them. Their confused looks turned solemn as they nodded their heads, pretending I wasn't standing right in front of them and hadn't understood literally everything they had done. I just sighed and said,

"You know what? I'll make today an exception."

Cheering, they got into their respective cars,  pushing me inside Jason's car. I tripped over their feet and fell into the car face first. Why did I even offer for this to happen?

*******

Although I got a bruise on my forehead on the way there, I enjoyed the food that we got at the diner that we had decided to go to. The rest of the day was pretty uneventful, except for the fact that I was accompanied everywhere by at least one of the guys. Unfortunately for me, that meant that I had to encounter a few of the girls flirting their pouty lips off with them. It was hilarious to see them get turned down by each and every one of them. I couldn't say that I wasn't slightly jealous by the girl who had tried to seduce Asher, but the fact that I was not ready for another relationship toned the green eyes down by seventy five percent.

Once school was over, I did my shifts at the ice cream parlor and library. Although I had been given money by my parents, I wanted to work to provide for myself while I was in Angelina and Simon's residence. I didn't want to move out just yet because I knew that I would need all the money that I could get for my university expenses. After the shifts, I didn't go to the boxing gym or Penelope's studio like I wanted to. Instead, I decided to call Laura and speak to her about the problem that was known as Carter. Getting out of the building, I bid goodbye to the guys telling them that I was going to speak with Laura. Cole looked at me and said,

"You can't go alone! What if the bastard tries to go after you?!"

I rolled my eyes but before I could say anything, Asher stepped forward, saying,

"He's right. I'll go with you."

For some reason, as soon as he said that, Ryan, Jason and Cole all exchanged glances and smirked. Jason said,

"Okay then. It's settled. See you both tomorrow!"

Confused, I waved goodbye to them and turned to Asher as they walked away. Trying to come up with a distraction to overcome the awkwardness that had decided to give us a show, I suddenly remembered what I had originally planned to do. I took out my phone, dialed Laura's number, which I had memorized, and waited for her to pick up. I heard a middle-aged woman's voice at the opposite end saying,

"Hello? Who is this?"

She had a slightly Italian accent and I recognized it immediately. Taking a deep breath I said,

"Laura? It's me Lily. Um... I don't know if you remember me but I'm Kara and Tyler's daughter. Are you fre-"

She interrupted me, saying,

"Lily! It's been so long! I've been waiting for your call. I was told a long time ago that you might call me one day, although I didn't know exactly why. I've been waiting ever since. Why don't I send you my address and you come over for a chat? We can catch up."

Listening to her sweet tone, I smiled, telling her that I would be there. I got a message sending me her location. I sent it to Asher so that he could drive us there. He walked towards his car and I followed him. Opening the door for me, he waited for me to get in. Once I was in my seat without bursting my head open, he walked to the other side of the car and got in himself. Opening the directions to her house, he started driving.

I couldn't say that it wasn't one of the most awkward drives of my life. We spent it in dead silence, the monotonous voice of the g.p.s interrupting it every two minutes or so. Within fifteen minutes, we were at a medium sized house with a huge amount of flowers planted in the garden. We got out of the car and walked up the steps to the homely looking blue door. Ringing the bell, I waited for Laura to open the door with a thousand ways to tell her everything colliding against each other in my mind. I was taken out of my thoughts as the door opened and a familiar woman in her late thirties with red hair, green eyes and a  blue business suit opened the door.

"Lily!"
