Ice cream and curiosity.
Asher's POV
The school day was as normal as it could get. Boring classes, annoying teachers and flirty girls who I was not interested in. I may be a supposed bad boy, but I wasn't a player. The last time I had gotten..... intimate with someone was my girlfriend in tenth grade. We broke it off because our relationship was starting to crumble. She moved to another country and we completely lost contact.
Anyways, gym class was when things started to get weird. I chose that quiet girl who always wore a hoodie and kept her head down to be in my team because she was great at sports. What I didn't know was that one hit from a dodgeball would lead to a huge amount of blood seeping into her hoodie. I ran after her as she went into the changing rooms and brought her her clothes in exchange of her doing ten things that I would say. I wouldn't make her do anything crazy, I was just curious about her.
A dodgeball definitely doesn't cause someone to bleed that hard. She definitely had an injury and it wasn't a minor one either. That much blood doesn't come from a small scrape or cut. I turned even more curious when she shut the door in my face when I asked her what happened. I would think that she was getting abused. All the signs of being abused were in her. Trust me, I would know.
I told Cole, Ryan and Jason, also known as my idiotic best friends, that she would be joining us today. I was pretty sure her name was Lily. We met her at the school exit and after a car ride of me staring at her and my friends talking to her like creepy stalkers, we reached the boxing gym. I was surprised when she came out of the bathroom with her hoodie off. It was the first time that I had seen her without the hoodie covering her face and her head lowered, and she was actually really pretty. Not just pretty, she was beaut- okay, get yourself together Asher!
She then went up to the punching bag and started to box like a professional for about two hours, leaving me and the guys in shock. I think I did a better job at concealing it. This left me eve more curious about her. How could a person be so beautif- nice looking, smart and good at physical sports? Also, why was she injured? If she was being abused, who was the abuser? All these questions were swarming in my head but I controlled myself enough to not blurt them out in front of the others. Once she changed and came out of the bathroom, Ryan literally jumped on her and said,
"How did you do that?! No wonder people call you sporty girl! Wow! My bestie is amazing."
She smiled at him and followed us as we walked towards my car. Cole said that he wanted ice cream and so we all went to the ice cream parlor. We ordered and sat down. Ryan and Jason started asking questions immediately. Ryan said,
"How long has it been since you started boxing?"
She answered by saying,
"Two years."
Jason then asked,
"What's your full name."
She smiled slightly as she said,
"Lillianne Rose Jackson."
Ryan then said,
"Where do you live?"
Her face darkened as she said,
"A house in Willow Street."
Hmm.... interesting. Cole finally opened his mouth and asked a question. He said,
"Who do you live with?"
She stayed silent for about two minutes before saying,
"With my boyfriend. My parents were...... they died two years ago."
Even more interesting. The rest of the questions she answered without hesitation and none of them were very interesting except for when she was asked about her tattoo. She said that she got it because of her name. I didn't believe her. I got even more curious as time passed by. We decided to head home and I drove because it was my car. The guys all gave her hugs as they went to their houses and told them that they had an awesome time. Even Cole, which was extremely surprising.
I knew what I wanted to ask her to do next. She told me to drop her off at the library and I did so without any questioning. When she got out of the car, I got out after her. I stared at her for a second, trying to decide how to say what I was going to say. I sighed and went up to her to hug her. She was stiff and seemed surprised. I then squeezed her and she cried out. As much as I didn't want to, for some strange reason, I detached myself from her and said,
"See? I know something is wrong. If you won't tell me, I'll find out what it is by myself."
She looked up at me and I saw her blue eyes filled with confusion. She said,
"Why are you doing this? What do you get from doing this? And why would I share all the details about my private life with someone who I just met?"
I had a hard time looking away from her eyes and when I finally cleared my throat and looked away, I said,
"I have my reasons. I'll tell you those reasons when you tell me what's going on."
I turned around and was about to get in my car when I remembered that I had to give her the second instruction. I turned around and said,
"Also, from tomorrow, you're going to hang out with me and my gang. That's the second thing so you can't back out."
I heard her sigh as I walked away with a smirk on my face. As I got into the car, I saw her entering the library. My curiosity was eating me up inside and all I could think of was what was happening with her. I was pretty sure I already knew but I wanted to be sure. Who would have known that the silent loner in the back of the class was a gorgeous, smart and sporty girl?
Lily Rose Jackson, I will find out what you're hiding.
There you go. PLEASE comment, vote and share. Love you guys. Peace out.
