Competitions And A Day Full Of Sport Pt.2

Lily's POV

I spent Ryan's game in a terrified state. I would come out of it for a few minutes but then Cole's request would come back in my mind and make me lose it. Thankfully, Ryan's game went well. His team won with flying colors, beating the other team 99 to 64. I congratulated him wholeheartedly but was still petrified at the prospect of playing the piano in front of the university agents. After the games, Cole and I went to the swim meet. Cole had decided to go to the party later on so he could see me play. He smirked all the way to the swimming pool area and I could barely restrain myself from punching him in the jewels.

The grand piano display was a tradition at our school. Every year, right before the last event of sports day, all the people attending would be asked to play the piano. The loudest person to say that he or she wanted to play it, was given access to a beautiful grand piano. Cole wanted me to shout as loud and as soon as possible. It had been extremely long since I played in front of a big crowd.

As I walked into the competition area, I saw Asher smiling at me. I smiled back, my face showing how terrified I was. He probably saw the weird expression behind my smile and frowned. Nonetheless, he waved at me, making me instantly wave back. I took my seat beside Cole, "accidentally" stepping on his foot.

Once the competitions host, also known as the head of the English department, walked out, I prepared myself for what I was being forced to do. He introduced himself and made the boring "pride of our school" speech before saying,

"Now for our tradition. Pianists it's your time to shine! Who wants to play for us today?!"

I screamed with all my might, shouting,

"Me!"

I was hoping that he would pick someone else, but unfortunately for me, he pointed straight at me, asking me to go towards the piano. I shakily stood up and walked to the beautiful, black, grand instrument. Sitting down on the stool, I lifted the lid off of it. Looking back towards the crowd, I saw Cole giving me a smile and a thumbs up. I looked over towards the swimming pool and saw Asher nodding his head at me encouragingly. Taking a deep breath, I lifted my fingers to the keys and started to play Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. A/N: It's a great piece. You guys should check it out.

Closing my eyes, I forgot about the huge crowd right behind me. Like always, I lost myself in the music, feeling the soothing feeling of the keys pressed against my fingers. I forgot all my worries. The nerves from playing in front of the crowd and the one's for Carter's upcoming trial radiated off of me and sank into the music. Playing the entire piece was not hard. I had many favorite's and Moonlight Sonata was amongst the top five in my list. Finishing the song with a flourish, I stood up and smiled at the audience. They all stood up, clapping. I saw the university agents also standing up to applaud me. Not wanting to attract too much attention, I made my way up the bleachers, towards Cole, surprised to find quite a few people crying. Once I got to him, he pulled me into a hug and said,

"That was beautiful Lily! Well done! And look, everyone loved it."

I just smiled at him and looked towards Asher to see him staring at me with a smile on his face. Before I knew it, the swimming competition had started. Asher wore his cap, put his goggles on and took of the towel that was previously covering him, revealing his tan, muscular body. He walked over to the edge of the pool. Leaned down, taking a divers stance, and jumped in once the whistle blew. A huge amount of splashing could be heard all around the swimming pool. Asher was in the lead, moving his arms and kicking his legs with grace and speed. The first two laps were front crawl, the second two were breaststroke and the last two were butterfly. It's safe to say that Asher was in the lead for all of them, winning the competition. I cheered for him loudly and watched as our principal received the trophy for winning the years sports competition.

As we walked outside, I was stopped by a woman in high heels, a business suit and a tightly wound bun on top of her head. As I looked towards her, she extended her hand, saying,

"Hi. I'm Cindy Lawrence from Juilliard. If I'm not mistaken, you were the one playing the piano at the swim meet. Am I right?"

I nodded my head, shaking her hand. Once I confirmed that I was the one, she beamed and said,

"I see a lot of potential in you and have contacted Juilliard's agents. They have offered a hundred percent scholarship for you, including your living expenses, tuition fee, books and a monthly allowance. We really hope you accept."

I was so extremely shocked, I could barely form words. I accepted the business card she gave me with shaky hands. Smiling at me once more, she left. Once I had processed what had happened, I squealed loudly and rushed to the changing room. I saw Asher waiting outside, a smile on his face. Without telling him anything, I jumped up, clinging to his neck, He laughed and hugged me back before saying,

"Woah! What's gotten you in such a good mood?"

I laughed and told him how I had gotten a scholarship to Juilliard. He pulled back a little, looking at me with wide eyes. He said,

"Are you serious?"

I smiled and nodded at him. He grinned and tightened his hold on me, telling me that he was so proud. However, he sounded a little sad. I soon found out why. What he said next made all of my happiness fade away. He smiled at me sadly and said,

"I got into the University of Michigan with a scholarship."

Phew! That was hard to write. Anyways, thank you to anyone who read the book. Please comment, vote and share. It would mean a lot to me. Love you guys! Peace out!

Best movie you've ever watched.
