A First Date And An Unexpected Spy

Lily's POV

Once I took Asher's hand and let him lead me to wherever he was taking me, I instantly wanted to slap myself for not asking him where we were going before I had come out of the car. Not that he would've told me, but still. Since it was spring, I had decided to wear a white, crochet, waist flare dress with an almost backless top. Thankfully, I had decided on not wearing heels and was wearing sneakers instead. Since I had a blindfold on, Asher gave me directions while holding my hand, taking me to the place of our first date. Suddenly, he picked me up and planted a kiss on my lips. I blushed a deep red, gasped, and said,

"Why did you pick me up?"

I could hear the smirk in his voice as he replied to my question.

"Because I'm tired of giving you instructions. Now, just enjoy the free personal car."

I sighed at his stupidity but let him be. After a few minutes, he put me down and asked me to take my blindfold off. Opening my eyes, I saw that we were in an open treehouse with a cute table set up. Four delicious looking plates of homemade Chinese were just waiting to be spooned into my mouth on the table. I could see the beautiful sun, just about to set. The sky was brightened with vibrant shades of gold, pink and red. Asher rubbed the back of his neck nervously. Clearing his throat, he asked,

"Do you like it? I know you like Chinese food and I thought we could watch the sunset and the stars later on. If you don't like it we can-"

I cut him off by saying,

"Are you kidding me? Of course I like it! In fact, I love it!"

His nervous expression softened into a smile. Leading me to a chair, he pulled it out for me and put a napkin over my dress before pouring a glass of pomegranate juice in a cup. As he seated himself on the chair opposite to me, we both dug into the food, forgetting the polite, five star restaurant like atmosphere that he had created a few minutes ago. The food was delicious and I made sure to let Asher know by complimenting it every few minutes. He just laughed, looked away and smiled.

Once we both ate the food amongst the beautiful sunset, we decided to lie down on a rug in the grass. Climbing down the stairs, we both spread the rug, and laid down on it. Asher put his arm around me, bringing me closer while a blush formed on my cheeks. The stars were beautiful, reminding of the times when mom, dad and I went camping. Once I smiled, Asher asked me what I was thinking about. Sighing happily, I told him about the memory that was circulating through my head. He stayed quiet for a few minutes before saying,

"Speaking of memories, we're not gonna have many as a couple once we go off to our universities. Are we?"

The moon illuminated his downcast expression. Cupping his face with my hands, I said,

"Listen, we need to cherish these memories and take them with us when we part ways. Although it'll be hard for both of us, we will get through this problem. Besides, both of us will try to visit each other as often as possible. We'll visit each other by road at least once every three months. Trust me, you think it's not hard for me because I don't like you, but it's just as hard for me as it is for you. And that's because I do like you. So stop downgrading yourself."

With that, I pushed myself closer to him, and pressed my lips against his. Moving in sync, I could feel the stars twinkling inside of my body. Once we both pulled back for a breath, he hugged me tightly and said,

"I love you."

Pulling back, I looked at him with wide eyes, He.... loved me? My heart was thundering inside my chest as he himself looked shocked at what he had said. Stuttering, he tried to defend himself.

"I m-mean that I.... Ugh! You know what? I'm just gonna tell you how I really feel. If you're not ready to say it back, then you don't have to. I'll wait for you. I just want you to know that I already love you."

My mouth was wide open while he was grinning like a maniac. Opening and closing my mouth like a fish, I tried to sort out my feelings right there and then. Did I love him? He was the one who had saved me, taken me in, become my best friend, introduced me to my other best friends and helped me in so many ways. Who was I kidding? Of course I loved him! I would be an idiot if I were to not love him. Making my decision, I uttered the words that I knew he wasn't expecting me to say.

"I love you too."

His grin faded away into a shocked expression. This time, it was my turn to grin as he opened and closed his mouth like a fish. Cupping my cheeks, he said,

"You do?"

I nodded and smiled brightly. His shocked expression melted away into a huge grin as he sat up and hugged me tightly. Pressing kisses to my head, he said,

"I love you so much!"

Just as I was about to say it back to him, we heard a shriek and a thump from a nearby tree. Getting up to investigate, we found Jason, Ryan and Cole in a heap on the floor, mud smeared across their faces and binoculars hanging from their necks. Once they noticed us, Jason immediately pointed at himself while saying,

"It was Ryan's idea!"

Looking down at his finger, he face palmed as he realized that he had revealed the true leader of their spying mission. No matter how mad I was at them for crashing our date, the scene was just too funny. I burst out laughing, clutching my stomach. Asher glared at the guys as they sheepishly looked at the floor. It was perfect. Not the scene, but the family that the five of us had created. Cole, Ryan, Jason, Asher and I. We were never getting to let go of each other, were we? I guess I didn't mind it. Ryan looked at all of us before shouting,

"Powerpuff girls, here we come! Bring on the movie night!"

And that, people, is how you end a book. Well, I guess there's an epilogue which means that it hasn't ended yet. So.. please scroll down and read it. Oh and wait, before you go, thank you so much for reading! If you've enjoyed the book so far, please comment, vote and share. I love you guys! Peace out! <3
