The Vanishing of Will Byers

RICKIE AUSTIN has lived next door to WILL BYERS for twelve years. There is a long list of things that Rickie has seen and heard living next to the Byers, the long nights where Joyce and Lonnie would keep going at it. Rickie and his sisters would blast music, hoping it was enough to keep the yelling away. There were mornings where Rickie would see Lonnie and Jonathan going into the woods, a gun in their hands and a fresh brush on Jonathan's face. Rickie never went shooting with his own father, Richard Austin didn't believe in guns or hunting— That's why when he was drafted for the war it effected Richard so harshly. Richard Austin was gone for 3 years, Rickie's only fit parent was gone, on a battlefield somewhere being forced to betray his morals. The Austin siblings' mother, Andrea Austin was to say kindly— A mess. Andrea was an alcoholic, a drug addict and absent. Richard left for the war, hopeful that his wife would pull herself together enough to take care of their three children but instead, their eldest, Mackenzie, only 9 at the time, was the one to step up. When Richard came back from the war he wasn't the same. He was a zombie, numb and retreated into his own mind. Mackenzie thought that her father was back but she had to accept the father that her father died in the war and he wasn't coming back.

Mackenzie had asked Rickie to take the bins out, a common chore that Rickie was given. Upon going outside he saw Will racing home on his bike, he looked frightened, terrified. Like he was running from something. He continued to watch, frozen in place. Was Will being kidnapped?

Rickie ran next door, he needed to help! But as he walked around the back he saw something that he couldn't explain. A monster, it took Will.

He told everyone he could but no one believed him! No one other than Mike Wheeler, Will Byers' best friend.

i'm not sure if any of you recognise this fanfic but it's an oldy, and i love it so much.

rickie love interest is el, i'm not sure if they'll get together in season one but by season three they should end up together. likewise, owen's love interest is mike, but they're a bit of a slow burn.
