Chapter 15 - Avaloth, the worst player
Andrew gave his father a look. "What do you mean by that?"
"You don't say a girl those things!" His dad said, shaking his head. "When handling a girl, you need to handle them with your emotions. Logic could never win a girl's heart!"
"What nonsense are you teaching him?" A voice came, startling both Andrew and his dad. His dad's face paled.
"Err... Nothing. It was just a man-to-man talk." His dad gave a nervous smile and stood up.
His mom gave his dad a look when his dad went to the kitchen.
He called Andrew, "Andrew, let's go. The dough might be ready."
Andrew stood up as his mom asked, "Are you making something?"
"Yes, some cinnamon rolls." Andrew answered and his mother shrugged her lips in amusement. She was a bit surprised at Andrew's sudden interest in cooking.
Both he and his father went to the kitchen and when they removed the covering, they saw the dough had risen in size. Now his father put it in the oven and they waited.
Andrew hoped they would be as good as the cafe's ones. Avaloth liked that a lot.
While Andrew went back to watch baseball match with his father, his mom joined them as well.
They were enjoying the match when they heard the sound of the oven. Andrew dashed to kitchen because it was ready. He put on the gloves and took the tray out. the rolls were fluffy and looked amazing. The smell brought a smile on Andrew's lips.
They had more doughs so his mom said, "I will make the rest. You guys go and have fun."
Andrew nodded as he took two plates and put a few on one and the rest on the other.
He went to his dad and gave him the plate as his dad tasted it. Andrew raised a brow as his dad said, "It is amazing."
It made him happy as he said, "Alright. I am going back to my room. Eat with mom, don't eat everything alone."
His dad made a face, "When did I ever eat without giving your mom?"
Andrew chuckled and went upstairs.
As he opened the door, he saw Avaloth had fallen asleep. He sighed.
He was looking forward to it. He was about to go back when Avaloth sat up and looked at him. Her nose sniffing the air and he knew, she woke up at the scent.
Her eyes glinted as she noticed the plate. Andrew came near and he expected Avaloth to be a bit demanding but she wasn't. Normally, she would nag to give her every cinnamon rolls but today she didn't.
He dragged his chair to the bed and sat on it while placed the plate before her. She took just one. He looked at her in surprise as she went back to laying down after eating only one roll.
Alright! She had been giving him cold shoulders all these time but now it was too much! He was getting angry.
"Avaloth..." He called, restraining his anger as she turned around and asked, "Yes?"
"I got you more. Why did you take only one?"
"You would get angry again..." She said and his anger vanished like a poof.
He looked at her for a moment. So, she wasn't giving him cold shoulders. She was just wary of him. She was being cautious that anything she does, he might get angry.
Andrew said, "I won't. I made them for you."
Avaloth looked at him with her doe eyes portraying a shocked expression. "Yo-you really made them for me?"
He nodded. "For hurting you. I am sorry?"
Avaloth's lips quivered as tears brimmed in the corners of her eyes as she sniffed.
"Err... Why are you crying again? I didn't even shouted yet?" He asked, feeling a bit perplexed as the devil started to cry. Honestly, he would never understand girls.
"No-no one has ever made me anything." She said in between her sniffs.
Andrew didn't know what to say. And suddenly, Avaloth jumped on him as she wrapped her hands around him and said, "I am so happy!"
His hands caught her waist to support her from falling but the sudden hug made him startled. He wasn't expecting her to show some closeness because she had been keeping a distance. She was cautious because she thought closeness might make Andrew angry but it was different this time. His face burnt as her body touched him and his mind forming inappropriate thought.
He shook his head and his eyes fell on her tail which was wagging. What was she, a dog!
"Alright. Let's eat now." He said.
Avaloth pulled away as they both ate and enjoyed the taste. It turned out very delicious.
Avaloth munched on them blissfully and praising Andrew after taking each bite. "It is far better than the ones I had eaten."
Andrew felt warmth rushing to his cheeks as he nodded, maintaining his straight face. "Well, thank you."
After they finished eating, Andrew asked, "Do you want to play the game?"
Her eyes sparked but she was a bit hesitant as she looked everywhere but him.
"I won't be mad." He added and she nodded stiffly.
Andrew let her play from his account in a normal mode as he showed her which keys to click and the whole functions. But she kept forgetting and the main problem was they had no extra chair for her.
It was difficult for her to play while standing as she had to bend forward all the time. And Andrew couldn't stand while giving her instructions, since he was taller and bending that much seemed impossible.
After a while, Avaloth stood straight and huffed as her waist hurt. "I can't play. My back hurts."
Andrew looked for something and decided he would bring a chair from downstairs or his sister's chair from her room. While Andrew was thinking which one to bring, Avaloth suddenly sat on his laps.
Andrew got flabbergasted. "Wha—what are you doing?!"
"Trying to make this puny human go left." She said, pointing toward the screen.
"I meant—"
"Ah! I killed him!" She exclaimed and looked at him from above her shoulder. Apparently, she somehow managed to kill one of the targets by mistake, of course.
But the next, her avatar started to shoot everyone randomly. Andrew shook his head as he placed his palms on her and said, "That's not how you do it!"
"Eh? But I killed five already!"
"That was just...you were sooting at everyone nonchalantly." He said and instructed her while his hands still remained on hers.
"You have to focus through the glasses," he said and clicked on the buttons. "Now aim for their heads."
Avaloth nodded feeling really happy as her tail flapped against his legs.
They played for sometimes and Avaloth caught the gist of it. Although she wasn't best but she qualified as an average player.
"Not bad." He said from behind her ear, "Maybe you can start to get money if you get enough followers."
He thought for a moment. That would have been a best plan. Once her skills got better, he would promote her account via his gaming channel, saying it was a friend's channel. Then she could earn as well. And maybe, she could get her own house, someday...
"Will I get that papers you give that cafe man for cinnamon rolls?" She asked thoughtfully.
"Yes."
She gave a grin. "Then I will buy a lot of cinnamon rolls once I get more and more money!"
Andrew rolled his eyes. "Seriously?! All you could think of cinnamon rolls?"
"But cinnamon rolls are best!"
He chuckled. "Alright. But first, you need to improve your skills otherwise everyone will make fun of you."
And that's how Avaloth the little devil started to play games with the help of her Master, Master Andrew McAllen.
****
It had been a week since Andrew mistakenly made Avaloth's mouth piece online and hundreds of her followers heard who was this new player, MonstarQ.
They weren't attracted by her playing skills because most of the time, she would shoot randomly at anyone even her group mates but they were intrigued by her online speeches.
She said, "Now, I am about to kill every human in this arena, Mwahaha."
But before she could shoot, another player shot her dead.
"Err... I died. Bye bye. See you in Hell. Don't forget to give me money, you humans because I need it for my cinnamon rolls." She said as Andrew immediately muted the audio.
"You can't just ask people money, you idiot!" He growled from behind her as she still sat on his laps while gaming.
"Err... But you said money is Important for in this world."
Andrew face palmed. Someone just teach her basic modesty!
"Yes, but you can't ask. You have to show that you are skillful enough so they can support you."
Avaloth didn't get anything as she blinked. Andrew sighed and said, "Just don't ask for money alright?"
She nodded and they heard a ping in Avaloth's chat box.
There were 100+ messages and he was afraid they would send hate messages. He opened them and saw her followers were sending laughing emojis and some even sent her a few dollers.
As he looked through the messages, he found out that, in their eyes, she was the most funniest player in that community and the comments she gave during the last week while playing, somehow made her a little famous.
Three players from Top 50 best players in the community even sent her friend request and said her to form a group with her.
He was shocked.
Avaloth must have sensed his expression and she got worried she must have done something as her eyes moved between the messages and Andrew and she stiffened. "I am sorry. Did I mess up?"
"Umm... Not exactly..." He said and thought, it wouldn't be a bad thing to show off her bad skills in the game since her comments were the ones they were fond of.
She gained 1000 followers in just a week and that wasn't bad. People would get entertained by her unique speech of calling everyone 'Human'.
He smiled as he got an amazing idea to promote her. He looked at her and said, "Congratulations, you got 50$."
Avaloth's lips parted as a broad grin crawled on her face and she asked, "How many cinnamon rolls I would get from that?"
Andrew gave her a look. Apparently, her prime goal was to get money for cinnamon rolls. And it was the only motivation for her to keep playing the game even if she got no skills at all and she earned the title of 'The worst player' in the gaming community.
