THREE. MERCY

Juliette Danvers looked around the hotel they were spending the night in, the building was covered in golden tones and adornments of glass. This place must cost a fortune and Juliette imagined that SHIELD didn't have this amount in their pockets, someone must've helped them.

"Danvers, let's go, we got a room." Agent Reyes passed the hotel key to the brunette. Agents were spending the night in individual rooms, set everything, and start their job.

Juliette had been staring at every person since she arrived, she noticed the men who came to escape their wives and find a mistress. She saw the group of women who were giggling and seemed to be getting drunk, all surrounding a redhead with a blouse with written words bride to be on the center. Juliette imagined her job would be infiltrated into this crowd, but in which group, that would be fun to figure out.

"We are just a few doors away, if you need something, room 234, knock a few times and kick at the end so I know it's you." Reyes explained to the agent while both waited inside the elevator to get into their respective rooms. Juliette looked at her card, on the right corner the number 228 on it, a room for herself, that was perfect, with a little privacy and comfy bed.

Juliette set her bag on the bed and sighed, sitting down on a corner of the mattress, a few hours of sleep would be good but she also knew that wouldn't happen until she got home. The brunette looked down at her watch, it only marked twenty past two and she had to see what her mission was exactly and how she had to present herself, the bag on her right was filled with wigs and corsets, those would come in handy if she had to seduce someone.

"Juliette." A knock followed after her name was called from the bedroom door. The brunette recognized Reyes's voice, the Chilean accent was too familiar for Juliette that she was sure she would be able to recognize it in a huge crowd without any complication.

"Come on in." Juliette stood up and saw Reyes walking in with two suits in hand. "What's this?"

"I have to leave in fifteen to check the surroundings at the bar, I need to look dashing." Reyes held up the two suits for Juliette to see, a navy blue jacket and pants with a black tie on his left hand while the right hand showed a cream suit with a striped tie.

"Honest opinion, neither." Juliette smiled at him, his face fell like his suits. "I don't mean it in a terrible way, Reyes, I just mean, you gotta look more into the group, wear casual, keep a jacket but t-shirt and jeans. Look like someone who's gonna pick up women at the bar."

"That's a terrible idea, Juliette, also I don't want to pick up women." Reyes tilted his head, he dared to look down at his suits, thinking for a moment before glancing back up at the woman. "Fine, I'll do as you told." Arthur Reyes was someone who wanted to please everyone, but the thing was, the people who gave him advice or suggestions always managed to be right, one of those people was Juliette Danvers.

"I'll be waiting here, I'll change too, it won't do any harm if I go to the bar for a drink right?" Juliette followed Reyes to the door and closed it behind her, ignoring the voice of Reyes saying how it was a bad idea. "This is perfect, I finally got an excuse to wear you." Juliette talked to herself, her hands moving the clothing around until her eyes recognized the piece she wanted. A skin-tight black strapless dress, her eyes glowed with joy and a smile traced over her lips that made her cheeks hurt.

Juliette took her time to get ready, Arthur never came back so she imagined he was already down at the bar, the red tint of lipstick shined on her lips, she grabbed her handbag checking inside that her gun and another lipstick were inside, seeing the black weapon, Juliette felt a weight on her shoulders pressing her down, she really hoped she didn't have to use this today. Her black heels echoed on the halls of the hotel until she reached the elevators, her fingers pressed down on the L button, she would only be there to keep an eye out and drink a few glasses of whatever strong alcohol they would have.

She had planned already that if the group of bridesmaids was there, she would stay close, congratulate and even join the group of screaming women, just an excuse to watch the place and look over Agent Reyes. The bar wasn't full as she imagined, but it was still early, few people were seating down having food, some men joined in the bar to have their drinks and at the end of the table, she could see Reyes taking sips of what it looked like whiskey, ordering for herself, a glass of whiskey sour.

Time passed by like a blink of an eye, the bar suddenly was filled with people, few guys trying to hit on Juliette, ignoring them or flipping them off, her eyes set on Reyes who had started a conversation with a woman, Juliette looked at them with a smirk, if the night went slow and no information was gathered, at least someone would have a fun night. Even though the woman didn't look like a threat, Juliette kept her eyes on her, she watched carefully at every movement the brunette did, how her fingers touched his arms or how close she would get to him.

"Boyfriend of yours?" A male voice said beside her, her attention drew to him, shorthair it and small presence of a beard was seen while he took in his drink.

"Not at all, just someone I found attractive." Juliette lied, she didn't know this man and she didn't know if he could be dangerous, so she had to lie and blend in the crowd.

"That's great, you should shoot your shot, or do I have a chance to ask you for another drink?" He asked, looking at her with his hazel eyes.

"I'm sorry, I didn't get your name." Juliette leaned in flirty, her fingers touching his brown leather jacket.

"I'm Clint Barton miss." Clint stretched his hand out to her the grin never leaving his lips.

"Miss Abigail Ryan" That was a name she had used many times undercover, she knew that she had to be careful around someone she didn't know, and probably never see again.

"Nice knowing you Abigail." Clint looked at her, his hand moved as he spoke, Juliette picked that he was deaf, good at reading lips since he understood things she said.

"Nice knowing you too Clint." Juliette smiled at him, looking over his shoulder she saw how the woman that had been speaking to Reyes was walking away with him. "Excuse me." Clint nodded his head watching walk away following Reyes and the woman from afar.

Juliette was careful on not being seen, noticing his body movement, she picked up that Reyes was being careful around the brunette. She wasn't drunk so they were probably gonna get it on tonight, but you can never be to careful when you've been send down for a mission. The Agent had to wait for another elevator to come down, she didn't want to compromise their meeting and make things look suspicious.

From a corner she saw the woman pull Reyes into his room by his collar giggling, Juliette rolled her eyes at the scenery she was doing, she looked dumb even, shaking her head she regain focus on the bedroom door, she sat down waiting to hear something, she had a plan, if she heard noises of pleasure she would leave, but if she didn't hear a sound coming from that room, she would knock, no answer given if she did, she would kick the door with all of her strength and knock it down.

Minutes and minutes later, Juliette was becoming bored of waiting, her heels were next to her, few people passed by and looked strangely at her, a young woman on the floor was something too weird to view when you walk out off the elevator, some people came close and asked if she was okay, she always said yes. Since she didn't hear any sound coming from the past hour, she had to knock on the door, a loud sigh left her lips when she lifted herself up from the carpet, dragging her feet Juliette straighten her posture as she was getting closer to his room.

"Drop it now." The loud scream was from his room, Agent Danvers pulled her gun from her hand bag, her body next to the wall, the voice she heard wasn't from Reyes, but from someone else. "I said drop it now." A gunshot followed after, Juliette took a deep breath and stood in front of the door, taking the safety off her weapon and shooting at the door handle.

The door opened back, Juliette rushed in with her gun pointed straight forward, her eyes looked at the room, three people inside. Reyes had the woman by her neck, his arm wrapping tightly, and a man just in front of her with a bow and arrow, she recognized him quickly, Clint Barton ready to shoot the arrow at either of them. The woman was a spy or an agent, she wasn't brunette but instead a platinum blonde, she was fighting to escape Reyes' grip but he wasn't going to.

"Drop you weapon Barton, and we'll let the girl go." Juliette walked slowly towards him, her finger coming closer to the trigger.

"Danvers, walk out of here, this woman is who we were looking for." Reyes gripped tighter her neck, she gasped for air and her legs tried to fight him off.

"I am not, who you're looking for, please have mercy." The woman pleaded but as agents, Reyes and Danvers didn't believe a word.

"If you're not who we are looking for why is this man here?" The man that Juliette was speaking of was Clint who kept his eyes at the two of them.

The woman's face changed, her right hand rapidly grabbed Reyes fingers twisting them back, her knee kicked him right in his jaw, Clint let off the arrow of his bow, but the woman was quick in her feet, throwing herself onto the floor, the arrow hitting Reyes' shoulder and pressing him back onto the bed mattress, a sharp scream was heard coming from him and Juliette had to do something, the trigger was pushed back with her finger, the bullet aiming on Barton's leg, making him fall on his knees.

Juliette ran and pointed her weapon at the other, another shot sound heard, the bullet aimed at her shoulder, she turned around and grabbed the nearest object, a lamp, throwing it at her direction Juliette dodged the object hearing it crash behind her.

"Do Svidaniya." The woman said running towards the balcony and jumping off from it, Juliette hurried and looked down, the woman was save by a helicopter, a metal string was pulling her away, she saw the grin on her lips making Juliette scream out curses at her.

"Danvers." Reyes called her out, turning around she noticed that Clint wasn't in the room anymore, another curse off her mouth.

"Reyes, don't you dare move." She jogged over to him and kneeled down to see the arrow passing through his skin and the white sheets turning red from his blood. "Where's your phone, we need backup here." She header towards his bag and looked around finding the mobile and dialing the numbers she knew would be helpful. "What the hell happened Arthur?" She wasn't someone to call him by his full name, unless she wanted to make fun of him or was extremely mad and in this case, it was the second option.

"She works for our russian assassins, I heard her, I saw her ear piece when she walked over to me." Reyes said with a groan afterwards, he didn't want to move but his body was slowly becoming numb.

"Did you see the other? Was he here for you or her?" Juliette tried to make sense of what was happening. "Maybe he was working with her, we need help quickly, did she give you a name?"

"No names, but we can recognize her face, I had set up cameras in the room when we got here." Reyes moved his head up a little motioning the corners of the room, where a small red light glowed.

"You're such a smart lucky bastard Reyes, you're honestly the best." Juliette smiled, but it didn't last long when she turned her attention back to his wound. She wanted to imagine that Clint was after this woman too, but why? Who had sent him? This is why you can never be too careful on a night out.
