Chapter 24: Round 2 (Part 1)

Third Person POV

Mittelt: "Hey, is it me, or is Freed... different from the last time we saw him?"

Currently at the abandoned church on the outskirts of the town of Kuoh, down in the basement which resided just beneath the altar up above, Mittelt was leaning up against the wall and looking at her fellow Fallen Angels: Kalawarner and Raynare.

The trio had just returned from their little side quest of retrieving the blonde-haired nun who held the Twilight Healing Sacred Gear.

Retrieving her was no simple task, though; the house that she was located in was the home of the same person who killed Dohnaseek. Luckily, he wasn't there at the time, so they didn't need to worry about fighting him; though that didn't mean that Asia was unguarded.

When they arrived at the house, they had to face off against a pair of women who seemed to be protecting their target. Some of the lesser Fallen Angels thought that it would have been a piece of cake, considering that they were only human, that no mere human could stand up against a supernatural.

Oh, how wrong they were, because those two women put up one hell of a fight against the Fallen and the exorcists that were with them. They even managed to kill off a good number of them, reducing their ranks to only a handful now.

One of the women was a simple regular human, yet she was a tough opponent because she fought them off with bloody missile launchers; who the hell fights with those?

The other woman, on the other hand, was by no means human. Mittelt felt something demonic about her the moment she laid her eyes on her, but strangely enough... she wasn't a Devil. This greatly confused the Fallen because Kalawarner tried to use her Light Spear on the woman, only for her to catch it and kill one of the exorcists with it.

It didn't make sense; she had a demonic aura, which meant that their Light Spears should have burned her the moment she caught the spear.

Yet, it didn't do that...

Unless the Devils have found a way to become immune to their Holy Light, that woman was no ordinary devil. Plus, there was the way that she attacked using lightning; it almost reminded Mittelt of a certain Fallen.

Either way, they managed to get Asia back after a very long and difficult battle, and now with her in their possession, they could finally do the ritual that would allow them to take the Gear from her.

And it is all thanks to the assistance of their comrade and psychotic exorcist: Freed Sellzen.

Oh yeah....

That Reminds her...

Here's the corrected version of your text with spelling and grammatical mistakes fixed:

---

Speaking of him, Mittelt didn't want to openly admit this; since she was supposed to be a powerful Fallen Angel, but she had to say that... she was actually a little intimidated by the new Freed.

She thought that it was only her imagination playing tricks on her, mainly because of how laughable it sounded. Like seriously, her? A Fallen Angel being intimidated by a mere human? Something like that is absolutely wild and completely unheard of.

Then again, she had known Freed since they were assigned to stay in the town of Kuoh by order of their Master, and she could safely admit that the Freed she knew was nothing like the one that showed up at their front door.

The way that he talks to others now.

The way he moves now.

And the way that he looks in anyone's direction sends a shiver of dread and fear down their spines. It almost felt like they were all standing in the same room with a slumbering monster, that any sudden movement would awaken it and force it into a blood rage.

There was also the fact that his eyes sometimes just start glowing crimson red, which doesn't help with the fact that they were in an abandoned church; it simply made Freed look like he was some kind of horror movie monster.

And there was another thing, something that Mittelt didn't really want to bring up...

Kalawarner looked at Mittelt.

Kalawarner: "Oh jeez, Mittelt. I wonder what gave that away."

She held up a finger.

Kalawarner: "The fact that he somehow has his arm back."

She put up another finger.

Kalawarner: "The fact that his eyes now glow red at random times."

She then put up a third finger.

Kalawarner: "Or the fact that he is somehow controlling demonic creatures."

Mittelt glared at the Fallen.

Mittelt: "I was asking a simple question!"

She crossed her arms.

Mittelt: "You don't need to be a bitch!"

Kalawarner's eye twitched a little.

Kalawarner: "What did you call me?..."

Mittelt: "You heard me..."

The blonde-haired Fallen smirked.

Mittelt: "You're a bitch~"

Kalawarner growled as she summoned her wings.

Kalawarner: "That's it!"

She tackled Mittelt to the ground and they both began to wrestle with each other, meanwhile, Raynare was watching the two and couldn't help but pinch the bridge of her nose and let out a small sigh of annoyance.

Raynare: "I'm surrounded by idiots..."

???: "Awww, hope you don't mean me~"

Raynare immediately flinched as she quickly turned her head toward the voice and saw Freed walking over to her, his hood over his head.

Raynare: "Freed, can you not do that!"

Freed chuckled.

Freed: "Sorry, I just couldn't help myself..."

A small sinister grin began to grow on his face.

Freed: "I just love the smell of FEAR~"

Raynare felt a shiver run down her spine; this new Freed was definitely more creepy than his previous self.

Freed: "So, are all the preparations done?"

Raynare: "Almost; we just gotta wait until night before we can begin the ritual."

Freed chuckled.

Freed: "Good, which means that I've got time until Hyoudou shows up~"

Raynare raised an eyebrow. Freed wants to fight Issei again? Sure, he may have gotten an upgrade; a creepy one at that. However, she doubts that it will be enough to stand against Issei.

Plus, Raynare gets the feeling that the brown-haired boy was now allies with the devils that ran the town of Kuoh; they couldn't face off against them, and even if they could... it would be terrible for the Fallen Angels because it would lead to an all-out war against the Devil Faction.

They may have the power to harm them with their Holy Light, but that didn't mean that they would win the war; plus, there is also the looming threat of the White and Red Dragon Emperors that somehow always end up getting involved in the Three Factions' shenanigans.

Raynare: "You want to fight him again?"

Freed nodded.

Raynare: "Why?"

Freed: "Simple...."

He looked at Raynare as his eyes started to glow crimson red.

Freed: "I wanna tear him limb from limb; I want him to watch as that blonde bitch slowly dies in front of him!"

Raynare's eyes widened, and she took a step back in fear. Freed was already insane the last time she saw him; but what he said there and the expression that he was making were beyond insanity.

He was not human...

No...

Freed was nothing more than a monster.

A monster that Raynare didn't want to fight because she still had so much to do before her time came, but there was one person that could slay this monster.

She hoped...

Raynare silently gulped.

Raynare: "B-but if you were to fight him again, would you lose?"

Freed simply chuckled.

Freed: "Nah, I'd win"

Meanwhile with Issei

SLAP!!

Issei blinked in surprise.

Issei: "Okay, I feel like I should've expected that to happen...."

Ddraig: ['Yes, yes you should've']

Issei deadpanned at Ddraig's words; he couldn't tell if the dragon was either being sarcastic with him or was trying his best not to laugh at what had just occurred a few seconds ago.

Either way, he was being absolutely no help whatsoever, and he's meant to be Issei's partner; no wonder some of his previous hosts turned out to be nothing but arrogant pieces of shit.

Anyways, Issei was currently at the Occult Research Club with both Trish and Lady, who were standing behind the brown-haired boy. After he received the call from Trish about them getting attacked by the Fallen Angels, he rushed over to his home... only to see that some of it was destroyed.

This was bad news because his parents were not going to like the fact that their home was destroyed for some reason. Plus, Issei had the feeling that he'd be blamed for it because he's a teenager, and normally that is what happens when they are left alone by their parents.

But ignoring his destroyed home for now, when he asked them what had happened, they informed Issei that they were simply having some food while they awaited his return when, out of nowhere, the Fallen Angels attacked them with some exorcists among their ranks.

Trish and Lady managed to kill off a couple of them, saying that it was almost like shooting fish in a barrel or doing some regular demon extermination. However, three female Fallen Angels managed to grab Asia when the two were distracted, taking her away from the battlefield.

When Issei asked if they could give him a description of any of the three that grabbed her, one immediately got his attention.

They said that there was one around his height and age with black hair and violet eyes. Lady also said that she wore an outfit that made her look more like a stripper than Trish did, resulting in the blonde-haired demon punching Lady in the arm.

From that description alone, Issei's mind wandered to the only Fallen that matched it, and it was none other than Raynare, from quote-unquote "Date" from a while back.

Issei spared her life the last time they met, mainly because she didn't seem like much of a threat to him. However, she probably was expecting him to be a simple human being and not the protégé of the Sparda Brothers.

But why does she want Asia?

What's her plan?

The only thing that Asia has on her is her Sacred Gear that could heal people, but unless they could somehow mind control her, Issei could 100% say that there was no way that Asia would willingly serve the Fallen Angels again.

Not after what Freed tried to do to her...

That dude was nothing more than a complete psychopath.

Equal to demons in cruelty...

Speaking of those demonic bastards, both Trish and Lady informed Issei about something else, something that was very concerning. They told him that during the battle against the Fallen and the Exorcists, numerous demons from the underworld appeared and began to work side by side with their enemies.

Demons...

Working together with Fallen Angels and Exorcists?

It sounds....

Ridiculous!

It sounds absolutely ridiculous. From everything that Issei had been informed about during his training back in Dante and Vergil's world, the demons there were basically mindless monsters whose only goal was to kill everything in sight, with only a handful of them actually showing human-level intelligence.

Still, it sounded crazy the more he thought about it because there was no way that the two would actively work together. Fallen hate demonic beings such as Rias and her Peerage, and like he said before, the demons are nothing more than mindless beasts who kill anything and everything that their eyes lay upon.

But to hear that the two sides were actively working together only left Issei with more questions in his mind.

However...

He can ignore that for now; he had to stay focused on the most important task at hand: finding a way to rescue Asia from the Fallen Angels before they did anything to her.

Now normally he should just go over to the abandoned church with Trish and Lady, kick down the door, and kill everything that he comes across until he finds Asia. But he can't do that because it could risk Asia's life.

So he thought about doing the next best thing: head over to the Occult Research Club and ask Rias to lend him a hand because he was sure that she wanted to get rid of the Fallen as well.

Plus, with both Trish and Lady explaining what happened, it was more than enough proof that the Fallen weren't sent to Kuoh by anyone and were actually rogue.

However, this unfortunately led Issei to being slapped by Rias; much to his surprise because he really should've expected that to happen the moment he brought up Asia's name.

Rias: "Let me try one more time: When I say don't, you don't!"

Issei: "Yeah, well. I'm not good at listening to people's advice"

Ddraig snorted.

Ddraig: ['Ain't that the truth...']

Issei's eye twitched at Ddraig's words, but he decided to ignore them for now because he had bigger things to worry about.

Rias: "Listen, Issei. You have to forget about Asia."

Issei couldn't help but narrow his eyes a little at Rias's words.

Issei: "And why should I do that?"

Rias: "You're an ally of the Gremory family."

She crossed her arms.

Rias: "And I refuse to let you go off and get yourself killed, especially over someone who's supposed to be our enemy"

Issei couldn't help but sigh a little as he shook his head.

Issei: "Rias, you can be mad at me all you want. But we don't have time for any of this shenanigans-"

SLAP!!

Issei blinked in surprise.

Issei: "The first slap I understood, but what was the second one for?!"

Rias glared at the brown-haired boy.

Rias: "That is for not showing up when I invited you to come see us hunt a stray Devil..."

Issei raised a hand to say something, only to stop himself because when he thought about it, Rias did have a reason to be mad at him since he really did not show up when he agreed that he would on the phone.

Bad move on his part...

He still didn't know why he randomly blacked out after talking to her; not even Ddraig knew the reason, and he could look at Issei's memories.

He sighed.

Issei: "Yeah, I'm gonna take the blame for that because I did promise to show up..."

Ddraig chuckled.

Ddraig: ['Gotta say, it's pretty funny to see you get bitch slapped by a girl']

Issei: 'Not helping, Ddraig.'

Ddraig: ['Hey, you came here to ask for help. I'm just along for the ride']

Rias crossed her arms.

Rias: "You better be!"

She soon pouted at Issei, which he had to admit looked pretty cute.

Rias: "Do you have any idea how worried I was!? I thought something bad happened to you!"

Issei scratched the back of his head.

Issei: "I-I know, Rias, and I'm very sorry about that..."

Rias: "And another thing!"

Rias pointed at both Trish and Lady, who had been standing over by the nearby wall and simply enjoying the show unfold before them; Lady recording the scene where Issei got slapped twice by a woman.

Rias: "Who are these two women?!"

Issei: "Um...."

He glanced at Trish and Lady before looking back at Rias, who had her arms crossed, tapping her foot on the ground.

It did just occur to him that he hasn't properly introduced Rias and her Peerage to either Trish or Lady, so to her; Issei probably just brought a pair if random women and started spouting nonsense about supernatural beings like Devils and Fallen Angels.

Issei: "Um, they're just friends?"

Lady let out a fake gasp of surprise and hurt.

Lady: "Just friends!? How could you, Issei, after everything we've been through?"

She glanced at Trish, who giggled at her coworker's actions and decided to join in as well.

Trish: "She's right, you know, Issei..."

She started to walk over to the brown-haired boy, actively swaying her hips side to side, which caused Rias, Akeno, and Koneko to silently glare at the woman.

Trish: "We've been through a lot together..."

She grabbed Issei and pulled him into a hug, placing the young man up close to her breast as she smirked.

Trish: "Don't you remember the kiss we shared on Christmas, under the mistletoe~?"

Rias, Akeno, and Koneko's eyes widened after hearing that.

Rias: "What, kiss!?"

Issei looked at Rias and began waving his hands in front of him.

Issei: "No, no, no! There was no kiss; she and I never kissed!"

He soon glared at the blonde-haired demon.

Issei: "She's simply playing a prank, right, Trish!?"

She saw the serious look in Issei's eyes and couldn't help but let out a small giggle.

Trish: "Who's to say~?"

Issei pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a small sigh of annoyance, shaking his head.

He knew that Trish was only messing with Rias and the others, wanting to get a reaction out of them. He knew this all too well because he had experienced it himself back in Dante and Vergil's world; she used to mess with him a lot when he least expected it.

For example, one time after a long training session with Vergil, which nearly resulted in him losing a limb for what felt like the hundredth time-seriously, is that what Deadweight felt when Vergil ripped his Devil Bringer off?

Anyways, Issei went to wash up and take a quick shower before eating some pizza with Dante. However, when he arrived, he saw Trish and Lady in there trying to quote-unquote "strip down."

As one can imagine, this led to an embarrassing moment with Issei quickly fleeing the scene. Although when he talked to Ddraig later that night, the dragon informed him that both Lady and Trish were actually messing with him.

Whether or not they were doing this because they liked him or because they were having a bet, Issei had absolutely no idea, and to be frank... he didn't actively want to know because those two are insane.

Though he had to admit, the whole "kissing under a mistletoe" was a pretty good one; but it seemed that she had forgotten that Issei had only stayed in their world for a couple of months.

Now, if he had stayed there for a couple of years, then that would have been a completely different case. Although, Trish probably would have just said something even crazier than the mistletoe one.

That was the last thing that Issei needed to happen...

Issei: "Ignoring that comment..."

He turned his attention back toward Rias, who was glaring at Trish.

Issei: "I guess I haven't properly introduced you lot to each other, have I?"

Rias looked at Issei.

Rias: "No, no you have not."

Issei: "Right, right."

He cleared his throat as he gestured to Trish.

Issei: "This beautiful lady next to me is Trish."

A faint blush grew on Trish's face the moment that Issei called her beautiful, something that actively surprised her because she had been called beautiful numerous times before in the past, and not once had this ever happened to her.

However, it didn't last for long as the blush faded away before anyone could notice it was even there.

Issei: "She's a badass and she can use lightning."

This gained Akeno's attention.

Akeno: "You can use lightning too?"

Trish nodded her head as she held out her right hand, summoning a small amount of electricity that crackled and danced around her fingertips.

Akeno: "Ara, Ara. Looks like I have competition~"

Issei sweatdropped at this.

Issei: 'Seriously, what is wrong with her?'

Ddraig: ['I don't know, and I don't want to ever know']

Issei: 'Amen, brother.'

He then gestured over at Lady, who was still leaning against the wall.

Issei: "And this beauty with a look so cold that she could shatter diamonds is none other than... Lady!"

Just like Trish, a faint blush began to grow on Lady's face, which was extremely shocking to her because she had never blushed once in her life, even when she started working with Dante after they took down her so-called "father" and saved the world.

Although, just like before, the blush didn't last long as it faded from Lady's face before anyone could take notice of it. This was a good thing; the last thing that she wanted was for anyone to think that she wasn't a serious person.

She was no damsel in distress.

She was a fighter.

Kiba raised an eyebrow.

Kiba: "Lady? Is that actually her name or just a nickname that you call her?"

Issei looked over at the knight of Gremory and simply shrugged his shoulders.

Issei: "Beats me; she picked it and she won't tell me why."

Lady let out a huff as she crossed her arms.

Lady: "And it's gonna stay that way"

Issei playfully rolled his eyes at Lady. One day he'll get her to say her real name, and when he does, he'll make sure to record it so that he has something to blackmail her with.

Issei: "Anyways, they're my friends and they also worked for the one who trained me."

Hearing the last part got Rias's attention.

Rias: "You mean this Sparda individual you mentioned?"

Both Trish and Lady glanced over at each other in confusion. Did Issei really tell them that he was trained by Sparda? They weren't really sure how to react to such a cover story; if they had to be honest, it sounded like a smart idea since no one in Issei's world should know about The Legendary Dark Knight.

Although it was also such a risky move as well, especially since there now seemed to be someone capable of controlling demons from their world.

So they needed to be very careful about this. If that individual somehow possessed knowledge about the underworld as well, then there is a small possibility of another Qliphoth tree spawning at some point later down the line.

Issei's playing a risky game...

Both Trish and Lady hoped that he knew what he was doing.

Issei: "Yeah, the same one."

Rias: "I see..."

Issei: "Anyways, enough about that. We have more pressing matters to discuss, such as going to save Asia."

Rias crossed her arms.

Rias: "And I already told you, Issei, forget about this Asia girl. It isn't worth risking your life"

Issei couldn't help but narrow his eyes at Rias, causing the crimson-haired devil girl to flinch a little because she had never seen such a serious expression on Issei before. All the times that she had seen him around the academy, he was usually pretty laid-back and chill.

This was the first time for Rias; she wasn't sure if she liked seeing him so serious. It also probably didn't help that there was something up with his eyes as well; maybe it was just her imagination, but she swore that she could see them changing.

But that couldn't be the case; it was probably just her imagination playing tricks on her. Yeah, that had to be the case here because there was no way that she was currently seeing one of Issei's eyes changing to blue while the other was charging to crimson red.

Issei: "Rias..."

Rias flinched.

Rias: "Y-yes?"

Issei: "I know that you're only looking out for me, but I want to make one thing clear..."

Issei clenched his hand into a fist as he looked at Rias with a serious expression.

Issei: "I refuse to leave Asia to suffer at the hands of those bastards! I'll bring her back, even if I have to go against the entire Fallen Angel faction!"

Rias stared at Issei in silence, her eyes widening a little at his words. He was really saying that he was willing to go against an entire faction to save one girl; said faction which has beings that survived in a battle with both the God of the Bible and the previous Lucifer.

Rias didn't know if Issei was very brave...

Or if he was a complete idiot.

Either way, she still couldn't allow him to go and get himself killed; but she knew that he wasn't going to take no for an answer, so it looked like she had no other choice...

Rias sighed.

Rias: "Alright, Issei...."

Issei: "Hm?"

A small smile grew on her face as she looked at the brown-haired boy.

Rias: "You win, let's go and save this girl from the Fallen."

Issei remained silent at first, but after a solid minute of nothing, a smile began to crawl onto his face, revealing some very sharp wolf-like fangs in his mouth.

Issei: "OH YEAH!!!"
