Chapter 21: Aika's Party
Third Person POV
Raynare: "What do you mean you lost contact with Freed!?"
At the abandoned church that sat on the outskirts of the town of Kuoh, Raynare was currently having a mental breakdown because she had just been informed by one of the priests that they had unfortunately lost contact with Freed.
While Freed was a skilled individual and an incredible asset, but that wasn't the reason why Raynare was upset because personally she could give little to no care about Freed and his well-being.
The priest that informed Raynare took a step back in fear.
Priest: "I-its the truth, Lady Raynare. We've tried contacting him numerous times, but he hasn't picked up."
Raynare gritted her teeth in annoyance; she had given very specific orders to Freed to keep an eye on the former nun that had been sent over to Kuoh; Asia Argento until they finished setting up the ritual that they were going to use to forcibly remove her Sacred Gear from her body.
This was bad, very bad for them because even though their Light Spears could deal significant damage to a Devil; that was pretty much useless right now since the Devils in Kuoh outnumbered them. The priests weren't going to be much help in any fights since the ones that Raynare currently had are only meant to be used for the Ritual.
Plus, the two Devil Heiresses of the town know about their existence; they just haven't decided to come and kill them yet because they don't know if they work for the leader of the Fallen Angels or were on their own. If it were the former, then an attack against them could lead to another war between the Fallen Angels and the Devils.
So Raynare considers herself lucky that the Devils haven't decided to attack them yet, which is why they needed Asia's Sacred Gear.
Raynare: 'Damn it, everything's been set out of place now. God damn it, Freed!'
Priest: "Um, Lady Raynare. What do we do now?"
Raynare glared at the Priest, causing him to flinch a little.
Raynare: "Stick to the plan, get everything ready for the Ritual. One way or another, we will have that Sacred Gear!"
Priest: "Y-yes, Lady Raynare!"
With that, the Priest ran off to tell the others which left Raynare all by herself. The Fallen Angel let out a small sigh of annoyance as she sat down on one of the old church chairs, rubbing her temples as she felt a small headache coming on.
Raynare: "Can this day get any worse..."
???: "You know, you're not meant to say that because it comes true, Raynare."
Raynare internally screamed in anger because she had just jinxed herself; it could get worse. Turning her head over in the direction of the voice, she was greeted by two individuals, both having the same black feathered wings as Raynare herself had.
The first was Kalawarner, who was a tall and buxom woman with brown eyes and long, navy blue hair that obscured her right eye. Her attire consisted of a maroon, trenchcoat-like top with a wide collar, a matching miniskirt, and black heeled shoes. The trenchcoat top was open at her chest, giving view to her breasts and cleavage. She also wore a gold necklace around her neck. She appears to wear a white shirt underneath her top, but it can only be seen from the bottom.
The second individual was much shorter than both Kalawarner and Raynare; her name was Mittelt, and she was a short girl with blonde hair styled into twin-tails and blue eyes. She wore a Gothic Lolita attire, which consisted of a black dress with white frills, a large black bow on the front, and a green jewel embedded on the collar, white thigh-high socks with suspender garters, a black set of frilly panties, and black shoes. She also wore a large black bow on top of her hair.
Raynare: "What do you both want?"
Mittelt scoffed as she crossed her arms.
Mittelt: "Now is that any way to talk to your friends, Raynare~"
Raynare merely deadpanned at the duo.
Raynare: "I'm not in the mood right now, so tell me why in God's name are you two here. Shouldn't you be polishing your nails or having a tea party?"
Kalawarner: "Well, if you must know. We couldn't help but overhear that you're having a little problem with a certain exorcist going missing?"
Raynare nodded.
Raynare: "Yes, that dumb psycho Freed isn't responding and to make things worse, he was supposed to be looking after Asia!"
Kalawarner: "You think it was the Devils?"
Raynare sighed.
Raynare: "I want to believe that it is them, but something isn't adding up..."
Both Mittelt and Kalawarner raised an eyebrow in confusion.
Mittelt: "What do you mean something doesn't add up? How could it not be those pesky devils!"
Raynare raised one finger.
Raynare: "First, if they did do this, then they should've attacked us by now considering it would be easy to assume that Freed works for us."
She raised a second finger.
Raynare: "The priest told me that they found Freed's hand and a trail of blood, meaning he got into a fight and escaped."
Kalawarner: "Then, what about Asia?"
Raynare soon raised a third finger.
Raynare: "That leads me to my third reason, if it was the devils, then they would've just killed Asia then and there. But there was no trace of her and she knows nothing of our plans, so there's no reason to take her hostage."
Kalawarner: "So... this is the work of someone else?"
Raynare nodded her head as she looked up at the ceiling, gazing through the holes in the roof and stared at the beautiful night sky above. Her mind wandered as she tried to think of who the culprit was, who could be responsible for this? Who else could possibly get in the way of their plans?
One came to Raynare's mind, but she deeply hoped that it wasn't him because the last thing she wanted was to have a fight against him. Dohnaseek already paid the price for not heeding her warnings; he foolishly went out to try and finish the job that she was given by her boss. Well, look where he is now... dead.
He allowed her to live when they last met, but whether or not he'll be so kind the next time they meet each other, she didn't know. But Raynare knew one thing for certain, if the person getting in their way was indeed Issei Hyoudou, then she better start switching sides before she ends up dead.
(Time Skip Brought to you by Dante meeting Hikari from JJK)
As another day dawned on Kuoh, the sun rose above the horizon, casting its golden glow across the sky. In the Hyoudou household, Asia lay silently in bed until she was abruptly awakened by a ray of light piercing through the nearby window, landing directly on her eyes.
She stirred from her slumber, her eyes slowly opening to a world blurred by sleep. Gradually, clarity returned to her vision, revealing that she was in an unfamiliar location.
Asia: 'Where am I?'
Sitting up slowly, she took in her surroundings. The room was pleasantly decorated, with a bedside table, a few shelves - one of them holding a TV - and a simple table in the corner accompanied by a comfortable rolling chair.
Asia: "This... this isn't the church"
Confusion set in as Asia started to ponder what had happened last night. All she could recall was being tasked by Father Freed to set up a barrier around a house so that no one would discover them. After that, she couldn't seem to recall anything else. Did she fall asleep? Did Father Freed take her to bed?
No, he wouldn't have done that. Asia may be the innocent type, but she could tell that Father Freed didn't seem like the type of person to do that. His personality when they first met was a clear indication of that. For an exorcist, Father Freed was a little unhinged and a little mean. He wouldn't do something kind to her. To Asia, he would've just kicked her awake and yelled at her, calling her useless or something. Not that it would matter; she was used to that sort of treatment back at the church she used to live in.
Either way, Father Freed isn't the one who put her in the bedroom. That could only mean that it was done by someone else. But who, and why would they?
While Asia continued to ponder this question, she was soon interrupted by the sound of someone knocking on the bedroom door.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!
???: "Hey, blonde. You awake?"
Asia: "O-oh, Yes. I am!"
The bedroom door opened to reveal a black-haired woman, one that seemed awfully familiar to Asia but she doesn't know why.
Woman: "Ah, good. Thought I was gonna have to wake you up myself."
Asia: "U-um, forgive me for asking, but. W-who are you? Where am I?"
The woman raised an eyebrow.
Woman: "You don't remember me? I understand you not knowing my name, but come on. You literally saw me last night."
Asia couldn't help but tilt her head a little in confusion, slowly shaking her head.
Asia: "S-sorry, but I don't seem to recall."
Woman: "Seriously!?"
Asia nodded, which caused the woman to let out a sigh, rubbing the bridge of her nose.
Woman: "Damn it, Issei. You knocked her out too hard..."
When the woman said that name, the blonde-haired nun's eyes widened as her attention had been caught. Did she just say Issei? As in the boy Asia met when she arrived in Kuoh? The same kind-hearted boy who called her gift from God amazing?
Asia: "D-did you say, Issei?"
The woman slowly nodded her head.
Woman: "Yeah, Issei Hyoudou. Has brown hair and eyes."
Asia: "Y-Yes, that's him!"
Asia's attention returned to the room that she was in, confirming her theory; she was not at the house she and Father Freed were in before... she was at Issei's home.
Asia: "I'm at Issei's home..."
The woman chuckled a little.
Woman: "Yep, you're in the guest bedroom, and Issei made sure that you were as comfortable as possible."
A small blush grew on Asia's face.
Asia: "H-he did that for me?..."
The woman nodded.
Woman: "Yeah, and he told me and Trish to keep an eye on you until he returned."
She then pointed at herself.
Lady: "The name's Lady, by the way."
Asia: "Lady? Why is your name... Lady?"
Unfortunately, Asia didn't receive any answer from Lady, who chose not to tell her story to the blonde nun. She had only told one person: Dante, and that was a very long time ago. Heck, she didn't even tell Issei during their time together back in her own world.
She doesn't want to tell anyone else, but if she had to, then she would, but only when the time was right and not a moment earlier.
Lady gestured Asia over.
Lady: "Come on, you're probably hungry, and I don't think Issei would like it if we let you starve to death."
Asia: "Oh, there's no ne-"
Unfortunately for Asia, she was rudely interrupted by the sound of her own stomach growling, and it was kinda loud. This caused Lady to give Asia an amused smirk, while the former nun couldn't help but cover her face as she blushed in embarrassment.
Lady: "Heh, come on, Kid. Let's get some grub"
Asia: "O-okay"
With that, Asia got out of bed, luckily still covered in the clothes she wore yesterday, and began to follow Lady towards the kitchen. As she walked through, she couldn't help but think about Issei.
Asia: 'Issei...'
Meanwhile, with Issei.
Issei: "ACHOO!"
Issei sniffled a little before he soon wiped his nose. Why does he feel like someone was just talking about him? Maybe it was Trish and Lady, or maybe it was Rias. It had been a minute since he last talked with her.
Speaking of the crimson-haired devil girl, Issei wondered if he should try to contact her. He hasn't heard word from her since she called him about fighting a stray Devil a couple of nights ago, and Rias was probably wondering what happened to him. Issei can just downplay it to him being very tired, but in truth, even he doesn't know himself.
However, that was something that Issei will worry about later because for now, the brown-haired boy has something else going on; Aika's party. He promised that he would attend her party, though he was still a little skeptical about it since it was from Aika of all people.
Now, Issei didn't hate the girl; but he wasn't exactly friends with her either. When he used to be perverted, Aika would normally appear out of nowhere and creep the absolute shit out of him and his two friends. Out of all the boys in the school, Aika preferred to mess with the Perverted Trio because she found them the easiest to tease.
Now here Issei was, going to the said girl's house for a party that could possibly end very badly.
Just another Friday in Issei's life.
Issei let out a small sigh.
Issei: 'Let's get this over with...'
With that, Issei continued his march down a street for a couple of minutes before he turned a corner and went into another street. Before long, Issei was soon face to face with Aika's house which surprisingly resembled a standard Japanese household.
It was quite large, possibly could house maybe up to ten or twenty people at most; the garden was also a sight to behold as merely gazing upon it brought a sense of peace, calmness, and tranquility to Issei that he hasnt experienced before in his life.
Issei blinked.
Issei: "Woah, this is...."
He soon grew an annoyed expression.
Issei: "Way better than my house, how the fuck is hers better!?"
???: "Oh? is that jealousy I hear in your voice, Issei?"
Issei's gaze shifted over to his right as he saw Aika, who was wearing some casual clothing, leaning up against a wooden pole with a small smirk on her face.
Issei: "Can you blame me? How is this your house?"
Aika let out a small giggle.
Aika: "It's been in my family for many generations, dating back to the 12th century."
She ran her hand against the smooth wooden pole as Issei saw a smile grow onto her face.
Aika: "My ancestor built this place himself, fought against the very elements themselves until it was completed."
Issei couldn't help but let out an impressed whistle. He personally didn't ask for a small history lesson, but he had to admit that he was glad that Aika told him because he would not have guessed that one man alone built this whole place.
Issei: "Impressive, you must be proud."
Aika giggled.
Aika: "Oh, I am proud. But I'm not gonna brag about it. I'm sure I'll eventually do something just as great... maybe greater!"
A small smile grew on Issei's face.
Issei: "I'm sure you will, Aika."
Aika: "Anyways, are you ready to start the party?"
The brown-haired boy nodded his head. Maybe this party wasn't such a bad idea. Sure, he was still a little skeptical, but after hearing what he had just been told, maybe he was wrong about Aika; maybe she isn't so bad after all.
Issei: "Yeah, I'm ready."
Aika smiled.
Aika: "Good, the others are waiting inside!"
With that, both Aika and Issei started to make their way towards the front door. As they were walking, Aika couldn't help but glance back at Issei and grow a small smirk. The girl was with a dirty mind tonight. She wanted to see what kind of beast was hiding in Hyoudou's pants. This was beyond many of the perverted things she had done, and unlike the pervert trio, she was subtle and very secretive in how she acted. Besides, nobody cared for a pervert girl.
Plus, this was the perfect opportunity because her parents were out on a business trip, which meant that this would be a memorable night. One that no one will be able to forget.
