Chapter 17: Sudden Surprises

Third Person POV

Issei(?): "Show me your motivation..."

After uttering those words, a sudden chill ran down the devils' spines as they gazed at the mysterious figure. Each of them felt the sheer aura emanating from him, causing them to perspire slightly; it was evident that this level of aura didn't belong to a mere stray devil. No, they were dealing with something much stronger.

As he locked eyes with the stunned Devils, Issei, or rather the entity controlling his body, swiftly charged towards Rias with immense speed before she could even process the unfolding events.

Although Kiba was the first to react, swiftly summoning his blade to block the incoming attack, the force of the blow sent him hurtling back into a wall. Rias and the others were taken aback; while lacking the brute strength of a Rook, Kiba could usually hold his own in blade clashes. Witnessing the knight being flung by a seemingly simple slash attack caught them off guard.

Rias: "Kiba!"

Grasping his side in pain, Kiba grunted and coughed amidst the settling dust. Meanwhile, the mysterious figure seemed unimpressed.

Issei(?): "Tch, is that all you've got?"

Kiba slowly rose, narrowing his eyes at his assailant; it was clear this person was a formidable opponent. Getting into position, Kiba charged at Issei, attempting to land a blow.

However, Issei deftly evaded Kiba's strikes, engaging in a blade clash with the blonde swordsman. Rias and the onlookers watched in awe as sparks flew with each clash between Kiba and the enigmatic figure.

As Kiba went for another strike, the figure leaped backward to dodge, landing gracefully on a nearby wall. Sensing the impending danger, Rias invoked her power of Destruction, hurling a ball of energy at the figure, who leaped off the wall just in time to evade the attack, initiating another clash with Kiba.

Rias: "Koneko, Akeno. Assist Kiba!"

The two nodded in unison; Akeno unfurled her devil wings, ascending into the air. Her form began to radiate a bright glow as her attire shifted from a school uniform to a white haori accented with red, a red hakama, and zōri with white tabi.

Akeno: "Let's see how you handle this!"

Crackling with yellow electricity, Akeno directed a bolt of lightning towards the figure, who dodged swiftly. Attempting to advance towards Akeno, the figure was intercepted by Kiba's sword.

The two clashed fiercely, the figure swiping his sword up Kiba's, aiming for a devastating blow to his face. Fortunately, Kiba evaded just in time, but was sent reeling by a powerful kick to the gut.

Kiba: "Argh!"

Koneko rushed towards the figure, launching a series of punches that were deftly evaded. The figure seized her hand, locking eyes with her.

Issei(?): "This is no place for a child..."

Enraged, Koneko grabbed the figure's arm, pulled him in, and delivered a forceful punch to his chest, sending him hurtling through the air. However, the figure quickly regained composure, landing a few feet away from Koneko, eyeing her with a slow chuckle.

Akeno promptly unleashed another lightning attack, but before it could hit, a mysterious entity appeared, blocking the strike with a cloud of smoke.

???: "Ow, that fucking stung like a bitch!"

Akeno: "Huh?"

As the smoke dispersed, Rias and the others beheld a strange being beside the figure-a demonic avian resembling a hawk, but larger in size. Its eyes boasted three golden pupils each, while its beak was uniquely configured with multiple segments.

Akeno: "A bird?"

Avian: "Hey! Don't call me a bird, cow tits. I'll have you know that I have a fucking name!"

Akeno was both taken aback and slightly annoyed by the demonic birds words.

Akeno: "What did you just say?"

Avian: "You heard me! Did puberty only affect your chest or what!?"

The avian soon perched itself onto the figure's arm, ruffling its feathers to get all the extra dust out before turning the figure.

Avian: "So, kid, any reason I had to save your dumb as-"

Issei(?): "Watch your tone with me, Griffon..."

The avian, named Griffon immediately stopped talking and tensed up, sweat running down its demonic face.

Griffon: "O-oh, hey Boss! Had I known you were in charge, I wouldn't have spoken like that!"

Issei(?): "Why I am out is none of your concern; I also didn't ask for you to appear."

Griffon chuckled nervously.

Griffon: "Y-yeah, well, someone has to make sure the kid doesn't get himself bloody killed"

He soon turned his attention to Rias and her Peerage.

Griffon: "So what's with the walking circus performance? Isn't it past your bedtime?"

Rias felt a little annoyed by the Avian's words but ignored them for now as she stepped forward.

Rias: "The better question is, who are you both!? You have a demonic energy, but I haven't seen anything like you"

Griffon: "Wow, get a load of this, boss. A talking strawberry, we must be in a strange part of the underworld"

Rias glared at Griffon, a red aura slowly covering her body.

Rias: "I would watch that tongue of yours, chicken wings"

Griffon gasped.

Griffon: "The fuck you say to me, you little shit! Chicken wings!? That's just insulting!"

Koneko: "He's right..."

Everyone looked at Koneko, who had a neutral expression on her face, but she soon grew a small smirk as she pointed at Griffon.

Koneko: "She meant KFC roadkill"

This surprised everyone, mainly Rias and her Peerage, as they didn't know that Koneko was capable of such a thing. After all, even around her fellow devils, she mostly tends to keep to herself, rarely speaks unless spoken to, and is a girl of few words. Plus, Koneko is a very serious person and rarely smiles or even laughs.

After saying what she had just said, Koneko had a confident smirk on her face while Rias giggled a little, Akeno had a smile on her face, and Kiba was trying his best not to laugh, visibly shaking as he contained his laughter.

Akeno: "My, my. That was pretty good, Koneko."

Koneko: "Thanks..."

Both the figure and Griffon, on the other hand, had completely different reactions than the devils before them. For the Avian demon, he was very pissed-no, that word alone doesn't describe how he currently feels about this. He was furious, beyond outraged by what the white-haired girl had just called him. How dare she call him such a thing; she'll have him know that he was a very powerful demon.

Griffon growled as he glared at Koneko, sparks of electricity slowly appearing all over his feathery body.

Griffon: "Now listen here, you little fucking shi-"

However, Griffon was cut off when the figure raised one of his arms. Unlike his feathery companion, the figure wasn't fazed by Koneko's shot at the Avian because he finds such things a waste of time. In fact, because of Griffon's interruption, he no longer felt the need to continue this fight any longer.

There were also two other reasons, but that was the main one for now.

Issei(?): "Griffon, I think it's time you return back to where you came from."

Griffon: "Huh!? But boss, that little shit called me KFC roadkill! I can't let this pussy get away with that!"

The figure shot Griffon with a cold glare, causing the Avian to freeze up as he fell on their arm and landed on the ground.

Griffon: "Alright, alright. I'll go back, just stop with the glare!"

Issei(?): "Good, now go..."

Griffon let out a small sigh, shooting Koneko an annoyed glance before she and the others watched him slowly begin to transform into what appeared to be a black dust-like substance before slowly moving towards the figure and went into his body. This surprised Rias and the others; they knew that Griffon had to be some kind of familiar, but they didn't know one that could transform themselves into black dust.

The figure turned his attention towards Rias, his glowing eyes staring deeply into hers.

Issei(?): "Due to that little interruption, I no longer need to fight you or your Peerage."

Rias: "Huh?! What do you mean-"

Issei(?): "You shall know in time, Rias Gremory."

He narrowed his eyes.

Issei(?): "But know this, while I cannot kill you, I do not want you getting in our way..."

Rias: "Huh? Where do you think you're going!? You haven't answered my question. Who are you!?"

The figure didn't say anything as he turned around, drawing his sword and proceeded to slash the air in front of him, creating a portal. Rias was taken aback by this as she wondered if the sword was the figure's Sacred Gear, but she didn't get a chance to ask as the figure walked through the portal, which closed soon after.

Rias stared at the spot where the portal once was, both annoyed that she allowed him to escape but also intrigued because she could tell that whoever that figure was, he is definitely someone she'll have to be wary of in the future.

She turned her attention to her Peerage.

Rias: "Is everyone okay?"

Akeno smiled.

Akeno: "I'm alright, President"

Koneko nodded her head as Kiba grunted a little, holding his side.

Kiba: "Besides the possibility of a broken rib or two, I'm perfectly fine"

Rias sighed and looked at Akeno.

Rias: "Akeno, see if you can patch Kiba up."

Kiba immediately lost all his color as he slowly turned his head towards Akeno, who smiled at the blonde-haired boy. But this was no ordinary smile; it held a dark secret behind it.

Akeno: "Ara ara. Come here, pretty boy~"

Kiba let out a manly scream of terror, or at least he believed he did because it was 100% a girly one.

Rias: 'Well, he's gonna need therapy....'

Meanwhile in Another part of Kuoh.

The Kuoh Park, the same place where the fallen angel, Raynare, attempted to end Issei's life, appeared serene. The gentle rays of the moonlight illuminated the darkness, while the whispers of a cool breeze blew through the leaves of the nearby trees, adding to the tranquil ambiance.

Yes, despite being barren the park still holds a wonderful level of beauty that not many can find within Kuoh. Sure, there were other. ice places in Kuoh such as the mall, the aquarium, and some other things as well. But the park just had that feeling to it. Like, it was just one of those places that a person would enjoy going to during either the daytime or the nighttime.

However, all good things must come to an end eventually because just as things were getting good, all of a sudden another crimson-red portal materialized out of thin air, causing a huge gust of wind to fill the park, nearly uprooting a few smaller trees from the ground. As the portal held its position, nothing haopened for a solid couple of seconds but then two figures tumbled out of the swirling red vortex, which promptly closed upon their landing.

The first figure slowly rose, groaning as they placed a hand on both their head and stomach.

???: "Oooh, remind me not to eat before we travel through a portal."

The second figure soon stood up and looked at the first.

???: "Quit complaining; at least we're here."

Figure 1: "And how do you know that? For all we know, you could have sent us somewhere else entirely."

The second figure sighed, shaking their head as they stood up and dusted themselves off. The first figure joined them, surveying the park surroundings.

Figure 1: "Well, at least it's not someone's house..."

They glanced at the second figure.

Figure 1: "Can you sense him?"

The second nodded.

Figure 2: "Yeah, he's here... It may have been years since I last saw him, but I know a familiar feeling when I sense it, and it's all over this place."

Figure 1: "You think we can take him? He's gotta be weakened, right?"

The second figure shook their head.

Figure 2: "No, even in a weakened state, he is still a threat to both this and our world. But to think he would come here rather than try to invade ours..."

Figure 1: "Well, what if he didn't come here of his own free will?"

The second figure raised an eyebrow.

Figure 2: "You do know how insane that sounds, right?"

The first chuckled.

Figure 1: "Yeah, but we're all about that kind of thing."

Figure 2: "Yeah, you've got a point there. But first, I think we should go and pay someone a little visit."

The first nodded with an amused smile.

Figure 1: "Yeah, it's been a minute since we last saw the kid. Can you at least track him?"

The second nodded.

Figure 2: "Yeah, he is actually much closer than you can believe."

Figure 1: "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go and see Issei."

And so, the two figures set off in a random direction. Stepping out from the shadows, it was revealed that the two figures were none other than Lady and Trish, the two most badass women that Dante knew.
