Prologue
"Mama why does Pastor Gills say the devil is a bad man?"
Lena turned sharp eyes on her ten year old daughter, who was asking the weirdest questions. "Because he's a bad man!" she exclaimed.
"But he isn't!" Reva insisted with the innocence only a child could possess. "He gave me sweets and he told me to be a good girl for you."
Lena's eyes grew wide. "What did you just say?"
"Mommy!" Reva protested, looking down at her mother's hand, clamped tightly over her wrist.
"I don't ever want to hear such rubbish. Come here! I always knew you were demon possessed!."
"Mommy—"
"Shut up!"
Reva's eyes welled up with tears as she turned and looked at him, her friend, the one who had been so nice to her.
He waved at her with a grim certainty on his face and even at her young age, Reva knew she would never see him again. Or would she?
