The moment I saw Harry tumble out of Hagrid’s arms, I knew this wasn’t over. This was far from over. As the chaos spread around me, I silently began to panic. I didn’t know what I was going to do, especially when I noticed that Artemis was no longer at my side. Great, I sighed mentally. The last thing I needed to worry about was him getting himself killed. I shook the feeling; he was Artemis Fowl. He would be alright in the end, one way or another. I needed to focus on keeping myself alive.

I drew my wand from my pocket, and I glanced around, trying to see if I could find anyone from the group. When the only person in my vision I recognized was Holly, I knew we were going to be in for something insane. I gave her a concerned look, and she instantly knew what was running through my head.

“We got this,” she answered before I could even say anything. She shut off her mechanical wings, dropping expertly to her feet. The elf snatched her weapon from her hip, before speaking into her helmet. “Foaly, we have a situation here…” I couldn’t hear this Foaly character speak, but judging by Holly’s response, I knew he hadn’t said anything great. “Obviously, pony boy. Tell me what the hell I’m supposed to do! There are wizards firing spells all over the place. Do I stun them, or do I shoot to kill?”

Almost as soon as she asked, a spell narrowly missed her head, causing the elf to glance away from me and towards the direction in which the spell had originated. I had never seen the rage in Holly’s eyes before. Ever since she had joined us on the beach, she had been a level-headed and calm individual. Maybe now I would see what Artemis had meant by her fiery temper and lethality. Before the elf could fire a shot at the presumed Death Eater before her, I decided to take things into my own hands.

Expelliarmus!” I commanded, and was pleased to see the wand fly from the man’s hand, landing dozens of feet away from him. A small smirk appeared on my face. “He’s all yours now, Holly.”

“Gladly,” she replied, a devilish grin upon her face. I turned my head as she shot at him. After a moment, I dared myself to look back, only to see the man lying on the ground. “Don’t worry; he’s only unconscious for a while.”

I certainly wasn’t concerned as to if he was alive or not. At this point, I was down for some carnage. The Death Eaters were not on my good side, and I swore part of me was ready to return the torture they placed on me months ago. I shook the feeling; this was not about revenge. This was about surviving, about right and wrong, about defeating Voldemort once and for all. Speaking of Voldemort, where had he gone?

I scanned the area, trying to pick the creepy man out from the crowd. Sure enough, in a clearing in the distance, I spotted him. He was locked in an intense duel with two people. I laughed in my head; did he really think he was that great that he could take on two wizards at the same time. Wow Audrey, aren’t you forgetting something? He’s Voldemort. He is that powerful, my brain mentally slapped me. It was when I realized who he was dueling that my heart began to sink…

Two dark-haired boys, whom from this distance I couldn’t quite tell who they exactly were, stood opposite from the Dark Lord, each firing spells simultaneously at their adversary. Without thinking, I abandoned Holly’s side and ran as fast as I could towards the battle. I came to a stop just on the other side of the majority of the battles before I couldn’t believe my eyes. Fighting Voldemort together were Harry and Artemis. I was stunned; I honestly didn’t think I would ever live to see the day where they would be fighting for a common cause, yet here they were.

Time seemed to freeze outside the duel with Voldemort. It was the only thing I could focus on; every other battle seemed to be so less important, so less vital to our survival. Part of me wanted to jump in and help, but my smart side held me back. If anyone would be able to stop Voldemort, it was Harry and Artemis. I could see them exchanging dialogue, but I had no idea what they were saying due to all the chaos around me. Although the battle seemed to be raging on forever, I knew it had only been a few minutes. I could see all three of them showing signs of weakening; it was just going to be a matter of who gave up first, and something told me that it wasn’t going to be Voldemort. I held my breath, hoping for the best. And then it happened.

All at once, I watched as all three participants withdrew their spells. All had the same bewildered look upon their faces as for some reason Voldemort’s body started to deteriorate, turning into ash. Within only seconds, he had turned completely into a gray ash, and began blowing away in the wind. I admittedly had no idea what I had just witnessed; was he dead? And if so, was he gone for good?

I watched as Harry and Artemis exchanged relieved looks, before giving each other a small nod. The two of them slowly made their way back to where I stood as a cheer erupted from the crowd around us. Artemis stopped in front of me for a moment before he pulled me into an embrace tighter than any other he had ever given me. Neither one of us spoke a word; we had no reason to. We both knew what the other was thinking without a doubt.

It was finally over.
