Without Dean...
Castiel's sighed as he finally put away the last file of Dean's work, all it in the neat and organized order that would please Dean. As soon as he finished, he sat in Dean's chair, allowing himself to relish in the silence of the office.
Dean had left for his business meeting a week ago, and Castiel had been straightening his files and office ever since. It had been tedious work, but without Dean around, he found himself not minding, and even enjoyed it after awhile. After all, he could always remind himself that he got closer and closer to the concert of the Devil's Angels that was coming tonight.
He felt buzzed with excitement as he glanced at the clock, realizing he had stayed just a little bit over to finish. He hurried out of the office to the employee lounge, where he clocked out before hurrying to the parking lot. He had to hurry to get ready to go to the concert.

When Castiel arrived, he was shocked to find so many people there already, but he didn't mind as he made his way towards the front, looking at the crowd of people with interest. He saw some he recognized from work, others from places he's visited like shops and restaurants. It was surreal, and exciting.
Not soon enough, the Devil's Angels made their way onto the stage, roars and screams of adoration floating through the air around Castiel. The members seemed to enjoy the ear piercing noise though and did a series of shouts and waves, making the crowd get even louder.
Castiel had to admit though, the Devil's Angel band members were some of the coolest looking people. The lead singer and guitarist, Jake, had a calm demeanor about him, as if nothing could touch. Charlie, the bassist, was the chill red-head of the group. Being the only girl, plus a savvy lesbian, she was a great hit with the females. Then there was Ash, the drummer. He was strange, but cool, having a mullet in the back and a normal hairdo in the front. Of course, then there was the mystery piano man.
Unlike the others, he did not really acknowledge the crowd, which made some of him scream the name he went by, the righteous man, to get his attention. When he finally surveyed the crowd, Castiel was barely able to contain his excitement, finally getting to experience his favorite band live.
Then, Castiel could have sworn that the masked man was staring at him, sending chills up his spine. He played it off as a trick of fantasy, and instead smiled as the band took their places. Soon, their faster music began playing.
Castiel let the music flow through him, allowing him to break out of his shell and cheer as they played one of his favorite songs. Halfway through, the chick next to him even got him to dance just a little bit.
It was all too soon that the song ended, and Castiel was sad to see it go. Yet, the lead singer moved away from the microphone, and the masked man took his place.
"Let's give it up for the righteous man!" The lead singer shouted into another microphone, letting the crowd cheer before speaking again. "Okay, let's tone it down. This man is going to be singing his heart out to that one special person back home."
The crowd let out a series of oohs and awes, Castiel leaning forwards almost out of his seat. Even though the man always sang with the lead singer, he had never heard him by himself, and he was extremely curious to hear it.
"This song...is very dear to this man's heart." The lead singer continued, grinning as he looked at the man in the mask. It almost seemed like he was embarrassed, the way he was ducking his head, but with the mask on, he couldn't quite tell. "So, let's begin."
At that note, Charlie and Jake began playing their instruments, letting the soft music drift through the air. Instantly, Castiel felt chills on his spine, making him shiver. It was if that song was speaking directly to him.
"Someone's always coming around here, trailing some new kill." The masked man began singing, and Castiel nearly fell out of his chair, his heart skipping a beat as he heard that angelic voice. He knew that the man could sing, but this was just ridiculous. No one should be able to steal an angel's voice.
"Says I've seen your picture on a, hundred dollar bill." Wait, was he looking at Castiel? Castiel shook his head, knowing there was no way. He just wanted it to happen, so his mind was trying to please him. "What's a game of chance to you, here is one of real skill. So glad to meet you, Angeles."
Castiel couldn't help but watch him constantly throughout the entire song, wishing he could remove that mask and see who it was underneath. He always wondered why the man hid his identity, but then again, he didn't live the life that the masked man did.
All too soon, the song ended, and Castiel nearly cried, wanting to hear so much more. He could tell from the rest of the audience and the way they were cheering for more, that they agreed as well. However, the masked man only bowed before moving back to his instrument, allowing Jake to retake his place.
"Aright everybody! Let's get this heated up!" Jake shouted, obviously the more hyperactive of the group as they began playing one of their harder songs, jerking everyone from their masked man's trance as they began cheering and singing along again.

"We want to thank all of you for coming out tonight! Have a safe ride home!" Jake said, earning another cheer from the crowd. Then, the band moved off the stage, and Castiel just had a moment of glimpsing at the masked man before they disappeared. Finally, Castiel sighed, standing up and stretching, getting ready to drive home.
"Excuse me. You are Castiel Novak yes?" A man said and Castiel looked over, seeing a large man in a black shirt, white labeling on the side saying 'Security.' Wondering what he could have possibly done this time, he nodded, facing the man.
"Yes, I am. Is there a problem?" Castiel asked, feeling a shade of nervousness in his chest. He relaxed, however, when the guard smiled, shaking his head.
"No, no problem. It's just that I have this message and gift for you." The man said, holding out a silver box, the ribbon emerald green and of some sort of soft fabric. Castiel frowned, taking the gift and looking down at it.
"Who is it from?" Castiel asked, wondering who could possibly do something like this for him. The security guard motioned behind him, towards the stage.
"It came from the Righteous Man himself. If I must say, you must be very important to him. He has never done that for anyone before." The guard said before taking a step back. He disappeared into the crowd, and Castiel was left to wonder what was in the box.

Castiel didn't open it until he got home, sitting on his couch with the box resting between his legs. Slowly, he untied the ribbon, being careful not to tear anything as he placed it neatly beside him before he opened the box, his breath catching in his throat when he saw what was in it.
It was a necklace atop a silk laden rest, with a gem in varying shades of green and blue, maybe even a hint of purple that formed together, making an almost skin texture that left Castiel breathless. He picked up the thin silver chainlink chain and held it up, staring at the gem in complete shock, his eyes wide.
He carefully placed the necklace back into it's soft silky rest before picking up the note, reading it with complete shock.
Dear Castiel Novak,
You mean the world to me, and I apologize that I cannot say this to your face, or even let you know who I am. It would never work. I can never have these feelings, so I hope you can understand. I'm giving you this gift as a first and final admittance of my love. I hope you like it.
Castiel stared at the letter, then the necklace, then back to the letter, feeling his heart clench. He didn't know why, but the letter just seemed so sad, as if the man that had wrote this was giving up. Actually, that's exactly what he was doing, and it made Castiel's stomach twist knowing that for once in his life, he was loved, and he didn't even know who it was.
"Some gift." Castiel spat, going to bed. He didn't want to admit that the mystery man made him upset, and just did his best to fall asleep, tossing and turning the whole night restlessly, thinking of the masked man. Who could it actually be?
When he woke up that morning, even he wouldn't admit what he was thinking to himself as he latched the necklace around his neck before heading to work.
