Chapter One
Noah landed behind Nolan and Harper on the ground, folding his wings in and walked over to them. They were running surveilance on a demon camp--and had been for a while--that had been set up, looking for weak points and entry ways. They also spotted out the weaker demons so they knew what they were dealing with.
Noah personally thought that the demons were more pathetic and weak than mankind. Because even though pretty much all of mankind had perished, the remaining survivors had determination and were definitely the most ambitious and resilient of any living creature he had ever seen--other than angels of course.
Anyway sometimes Noah thought that the surveilance was unnecessary. They were Angel Warriors which meant they could take out a demon camp without even breaking a sweat--unless it was a greater demon like Behemoth or something. Then they would really have a problem. But Noah was smart and he was also very aware of his pride and tried not to let that get in the way of his judgement.
However Nolan was the master of pride; he never stopped showing it. He could sometimes be a showoff and even though girls hated his pride, his good looks did wonders for him. Set at 5'12, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes, he had a smile that charmed pretty much everyone. Boys included.
Harper was pretty much the complete opposite of Nolan. She was brave and beautiful and she was just as charming...when she wanted to be. Harper was 5'6, with curly blond hair that stopped just below her shoulders and blue eyes that could hypnotize almost anyone.
And then there was Noah. He had jet black hair, dark hazel eyes that sometimes changed to a really light hazel almost green, and he was 5'10. Other than that there wasn't anything that special or exciting about him. Not counting the fact that he was an angel. He'd never had a girlfriend before and it wasn't because he couldn't get one. He just didn't have much time for a relationship even before the Angel War began.
Noah crouched down on Nolan's left side since Harper was on his right and said, "So what's the plan here?"
Nolan glanced at him for a second, his face scrunching up before he turned back to the camp below them. "We have everything we need from surveilance so I'm pretty sure we can take them out."
Noah rolled his eyes and sighed impatiently. "I mean what's the game plan idiot."
Nolan opened his mouth to speak but before any words could leave his lips, a dark haired girl shot out of the trees and dove straight down at the camp, attacking with no hesitation. Two others followed behind her and he shook his head.
"There isn't one." Nolan says and stands up jumping over the edge of the cliff they had been using for surveilance. Harper shot Noah a smile and followed Nolan to the ground.
Noah groaned quietly. "Why can't Seraphina ever give us a warning?"
He snapped out his black wings and jumped off the cliff, gliding towards the demon base camp. When Noah landed he went into a roll, coming up to his feet and drawing his sword. Two demons came at him, eyes red and claws out but with one flick of his wrist, both of them were clutching their chest and throat as blood welled and they fell to the ground, already dead.
Noah glanced around quickly and began cutting down demons. He was doing fine until all of a sudden someone rammed into him and sent him flying across the camp. He rolled across the ground, his sword flying from his hand.
Noah shook his head to clear it and looked up. He couldn't believe who was standing a few feet away from him. Dominic. His former best friend who had been turned into a hybrid angel. He was part vampire, part angel and it made him all the more powerful.
Noah scrambled to his feet, grabbing his sword as he eyed Dominic warily, who only smirked at him.
"Dominic...whatever you're going to do, you don't have to do it." Noah told him.
Dominic laughed and it wasn't the laugh Noah had grown up listening to. No, it was the laugh of a monster. His best friend had died a long time ago. And he needed to come to his senses about it.
"You're right, I don't have to do anything. But I want to." Dominic said, narrowing his eyes at Noah. "This'll be my payback for what you did to me Noah."
And with that Dominic lunged at Noah.
Nolan swung around, bringing his sword up and cutting down an apparent revenant. His movements were flawless and graceful, every move made was a careful one. Nolan and Harper faought together but something felt wrong. Absolutely wrong.
Nolan ducked as a demon tried to claw his face off, grabbed it and drove his sword into its chest, letting the damn creature drop to the ground, disolving into nothing but flaming ash. That awful feeling that something was wrong hung in the air and settled in his gut.
Nolan glanced around briefly trying to find Noah in the crowd of the camp that had been turned into a huge battle ground and finally after a couple moments he saw him. But the state that he saw Noah in was not a good one. Noah was fine and looked unharmed but he was facing off against Dominic, one of his former friends who had been turned into a hybrid.
Nolan cursed silently under his breath and turned to Seraphina. "Sera I need you to shoot someone from here."
Seraphina frowned for a second and followed Nolan's gaze to Noah facing off against Dominic. She nodded and said, "Don't worry. I got this."
Nolan nodded to her but decided to make his way towards Domini and Noah anyway, cutting down any creature that got in his way. He passed Kace and Faida on his way and they paused briefly before they continued what they were doing.
Nolan glanced back at Seraphina who already set her rifle up and gave him the thumbs up. He ran into the middle of the fight, sword drawn and spread his wings, knocking Dominic backwards and grabbing Noah, who yelped in surprise when he was lifted into the air by Nolan.
Seraphina who had been waiting for the perfect shot finally got it when Dominic moved forward and spread his wings. It took her only one second to take aim and fire. The bullet pierced his wing and she reloaded fast, taking aim once more and firing. This time the bullet hit him square in the chest.
Dominic stumbled backwards and spun around trying to find where the shots were coming from. Seraphina knew the moment he knew and she smirked. As he flew in her direction she reloaded and took the shot. He fell midair to the bloodstrewn ground and didn't get back up. Seraphina reloaded again just in case.
(That's how fast Seraphina aka Megan Fox reloads)
Seraphina watches as Nolan lowers to the ground, still holding Noah in his arms and she smirked knowingly. She knew Nolan liked Noah and vice versa but neither of them ever made a move. Besides as far as anyone was concerned, she totally liked the idea of them together.
They were secretly gay for each other.
Anyway when they landed in front of Seraphina, Noah was blushing a very dark red and Nolan looked like he wanted to pounce on him right then and there. Seraphina crossed her arms.
"How was the flight?" She asked, her signature smirk clear as daylight on her face. She threw her dark hair over her shoulder and waited for an answer.
Nolan shook his head at her and glanced down at Dominic's apparent still and unmoving body. He nudged his toe into his side and studied his body, waiting for a reaction. "So I guess he's dead?"
Noah walked over, a stubborn look on his face. "I doubt it. He'll be back trust me."
Braelyn, Faida, Micah, Kace, and Harper strolled over and demanded to know whether there was anything else they had to do here. Nolan shook his head and said,
"We can go. Our work here is done."
Then they all spread their wings and kicked off the ground, shooting into the sky, going wherever the wind currents took them next.
