73: Attack
"THAT'S WHAT HE SAID."
Riley's statement had been running in my mind throughout the length of the drive to West Bay.
That when I arrived, I couldn't recognize anything, I stomped to the locker room and change into a West Bay shirt and collect my hair into a ponytail.
Tomorrow, I have to skip school for the bank, I would need a credit card and a new phone even if it's not a smartphone. I will need it even to stay in contact with mom.
I was about to leave the room when the door opened and Kate came in.
"Hey I was talking to you but you ignore me." She pout.
I blinked, it must happen when I came into the restaurant.
"I am sorry I was..." I drift off when my eyes fell to the item in her hand.
It was my backpack; the backpack Caden had taken off with.
How?
"Where did you get that?" I rush my words, my eyes widen.
Kate hand it over to me. "Earlier some hot messy-haired guy showed up, he said you left it with him."
"Caden was here?"
"That's his name? I honestly envy you, how can you be fishing out all the hotties in California? I wouldn't be surprised if Channing Tatum walks in here and confesses you left your pantie at his place."
"When did he brought this?"
"About thirty minutes ago. I have to go, we have tripled customers today, Rob says they all go to your school, get your ass out quickly and give me some hand." And she disappears, leaving me with quiet and a throbbing heart.
I should leave.
But I thought a bit late, there was human warmth behind me. Bringing that abrupt stop to my existence.
"So your murderer of a father had returned?" His voice was cold, it was filled with anger and vengeance.
How did he learn about that?
I wish I could disappear.
"Daisy Esteban, you have no idea how this operated for my favor. You see I can kill you now without delay, and watch your old man bury you. It's going to hurt more than imprisonment, he would prefer rotten in hell than breathing on this earth."
"You are just angry," I whispered. "I know how you feel."
"You don't fucking know a thing." He grasps me by the neck and thrust me to the wall.
The sharp pain was striking, it penetrated my brain.
"Do not tell me a thing. I and you are nothing alike. You didn't have to be suffocated by your mother." He clung to my neck tightly, clogging my windpipe and I couldn't breathe in air, I couldn't speak, I could only blink tears, my hands struggling to push him away.
Again he crushes my head against the wall for the second time and everything began becoming double and opaque. "You didn't lose a sister." He whacked my head again, I'm sure I was bleeding out, the third strike was enough to win over my frail body and I couldn't even fight anymore, the pain was severe. "You didn't lose everything, you didn't lack love and family." He continued to crush my head against the concrete wall with every statement until I couldn't hear anything and maybe I was losing consciousness.
"Fucking asshole." I thought I heard a familiar voice, a voice that resembles Kaiser's but it was all I heard before my body failed to respond.

When I blinked and open my eyes they fell on a wall clock that says eleven.
What eleven? Was it night or morning?
When I try to tilt my head to find a window or anything that would answer my question, I sense an intense headache throbbing in my head.
I groaned and breathed loudly.
Where am I?
"Daisy?"
"I will call a doctor." A female voice offered.
As a face appears above me, I mean a familiar face.
Kay.
"W-what... Where am I?" I stammered.
"You are okay, you're in the hospital." He softly said. "The doctor said you had a concussion but you're okay, you will need to rest though ."
That is when it all came in.
Caden, he...
"He is going to kill me... And, where is my father?" I shoot up straight even though the headache was harsh and a painful cry escapes from my chest.
"Don't. You need to rest." Kay grabs my shoulders, trying to help me down but I resisted, he sat on the bed beside me, facing me.
"I have to warn my father. Caden will kill him if I'm still alive." I panicked.
"Caden is with the cops, he won't be coming for you." He told me but I don't believe him.
"I have to go to my father." I insisted.
"He is fine, Daisy." There's sincerity in his glistening eyes.
"No, you have no idea, I can't lose him." I shook my head, not caring about the pain.
"You are not going to, I promise he is safe, the penthouse is safe. You need to rest." He retorted, his eyes wide.
Why does my father's safety concern him?
"Why are you helping me?" Confused, I questioned.
He swallowed, for a moment his lips were a hard straight line.
"I don't know, maybe because you were the only friend I used to have or maybe because I love you." He answered.
"You really love me." I could see it in his eyes.
"I do." He whispered.
But is not right!
"Kay, what about Riley?"
"I hope she understands. It's you who I want, it's you I've been waiting for."
But is not right!
"And what if she doesn't? I don't want to be alone." I swallowed and my eyes welled up with tears.
Kay shakes his head rapidly, his fingers cupped my chin and direct my eyes to his.
"You will never be alone as long as I am here, I would never be apart from you. Just give me a chance to prove to you how much I love you."
"Kay..." I choked.
"Don't you want that?" Our faces were close, our noses were brushing.
"I-I don't know what I want." I honestly confessed. "I don't know what is right."
"Then let me show you, let me give you what you deserve. Right and wrong, it doesn't matter."
His words were liquid, they could melt the most solid of heart. And when I couldn't take it anymore, I just took his lips in, and surprisingly it came with solace, and even lessen my pain.
He kissed me back tenderly, but deep. His hands circled my waist holding me in place.
We kissed for what felt like forever until someone cleared their throat. I pulled back and that discomfort in my head returned.
"Kate?" I gasped when my gaze meets hers, she was smiling at me.
She was also here just like Kay.
"Told you, he likes you." She smirks and I was already flushing.
