61: Supermarket

DAISY

It's eight in the evening when I changed back into my casual clothing and say good night to my colleagues; the night shifters are mostly elders thus they're nice and easy to get along with.

I decided to stop at the mall across the street to grab some pairs of clothes and a sanitary pad. It's two days until my menstrual cycle reoccurs, and as a habit, I prepare before time.

With Knightley and Andre behind me, I do most of the shopping with the little I've made working at West Bay, I grab two sets of outfits and make my way to the catamenial products aisle.

Early today I've spoken with mom, she believes hospice care is a great idea, she promised it would be alright. The talk we had; gave me endurance that I manage to make it almost a day without dwelling on that one person who plays with my feelings.

To my left, I find the shelf occupied with my favorite product, Stayfree. I grab two packs since I change my pad every time I pee, and now I pee a lot on my menstrual cycle.

When I was little I pee often, but as I grew up I reduce consuming watery sustenance and rather take in much food than beverages.

I remember kids making fun of me in grade four whenever I ask the teacher for hallway permission and only Kay had my back. I don't understand how we got here? How that sweet little man changed into something else.

"You should try tampons, it works better than the absorbent pad."

I jumped, startled by the deep voice immediately behind me.
Kay?

"Kay?" I exclaim.
What is he doing here?

"Yup. You will need my advice." He cockily says.

I haven't seen him since yesterday, He looks attractive as always, his long hair is a perfect mess, some locks falling over his forehead arousing a sudden desire to feel his soft hair between my fingers. I had to muster up all the self-strength in me and push the need away.

"How do you know I am here?" I ignore and ask him the reason I have creases on my forehead.

"Vance?" He shook his head trying to remind me of his authority over me.

"Okay, that's believable." I exhale and press my lip into a hard line before having the courage to ask. "What are you doing here?"

"I just helped with a good choice, isn't it obvious."

"Kay?" I snapped.

"You will need it." Both hands slip into his pocket, the gesture is similar to nervousness.

I don't understand. It's something I'm not familiar with when it comes to Kaiser. He's the bold, forward, angry, and prejudice one. Not nervous and embarrassed type of a person, he made it clear my stay in his place.

"I will not. Now answer me." I press.

"Wait. Have you ever use a tampon?" His bewitching lips pull into the smile that got my heart reacting in an instant. Some slight dimples above his lips appear, it was a sincere smile, it got me breathing harder.

"What?" I croak, blinking rapidly.

Don't let his charm in, don't let his charm in. I keep repeating mentally.

"Unless you're..."

"What are you doing here?" I counter, interrupting his seducing words and voice.

"I-I..." He halts and swallows before averting his eyes from me.

"You're here to make my life another hell, isn't it?" I exhale a sad smile. With accusing eyes I stare up at the tall young man before me. "Well you can add upon the torments, it's not like I expect anything less."

"I am not here to torment you, Daisy." He brings back his eyes, and suddenly I want to believe him, they were too genuine for me to look away, they offer warmth I never knew I could find in those emerald green.

I shake my head and fold my arms around my chest. "Then why are you here."

"I had to see you." His voice was soft and low, it makes me weak in the knees.

"Uhm..." I became speechless, with his eyes boring into me, I almost forget how to breathe.

"Whatever's going on, only you make it easy, so I am here for solace." His hand came over my clothed arm. Those gorgeous eyes twinkle this weird emotion, I know I can't afford to hold his intense gaze that's demanding something I can't be able to provide.

So I turn on my heels when I say. "I gotta grab something." But he is quick to skid his hand around my waist and held me in place.

"Give me five minutes would you?" He asked. I can barely respond, I only hold his gaze and listen to him plead. "Please." He sounded desperate. It scares me.

"What do you want, kay?" I mumble.

His free hand came to my face, his fingers stroke my cheek slowly in a detailed manner before he answers.
"I want you."

Abruptly annoyed, I shove his chest, freeing myself from his grasp. Luckily we're around in the aisle.
"I am not sure, you're quite a flirt you know." His eyes narrowed at me, It like he doesn't know what I am referring to. He's a great liar and a good pretender. "I saw you with her Kay, I've seen the way you look at her. You have Riley yet you were with someone else. Your statement isn't true. You and I have no likelihood and any possibility."

His chest rising and falling, he watched me with confound eyes.
"What are you talking about." Kay queried.

It takes everything in me to say it out. "The woman you were holding at my place."

Yesterday I had spent trying to push back the image he has to insert into my memory.
He must have fun, which I didn't witness because I left through the back door. Kate insists I have some fresh air and stay away from him. It was the best idea at the time.

"Reagan?" He questions like I should know.

"So she has a name, wow." I scoff and turn away, feeling the sting of bites in my chest, my fingers instinctively run into my hair.
