54: Bribe
I proceed working around while sensing the ceaseless eyes sending heat to my whole organs.
"Your man tipped me a month whole salary." Kate crows, holding an empty tray.
She has been serving the asshole since then and it's making me want to explode whenever she comes gushing about him.
"He is not my man and you better stay away from him." I retorted.
"Ha! There it is, you're now jealous." She comments, stifling a smile I can see.
"I am not..."
"You say to stay away from him." She interrupted her hands on her hips, analyzing my reaction.
I exhale an exasperated laugh and turn away so she couldn't see me blush. Why am I fucking blushing?
"I will not say anything about this conversation."
"Just go say hello." She insisted, just then my phone buzz from my denim pocket and I pull it out.
It's a message from an unknown number.
'I require you to serve your customer.'
My eyes responsively look up and meet the green eyes staring back at me.
'How do you get my phone number?' I sent.
Ping.
'How did you get mine the other day?' It reads. Kay has a challenging look on his face when I glance at him.
A smile takes over my face while I type a reply.
'I looked around, how did you get mine?' I replied and waited for him to finish typing, his head inclined, those tiny veins bulges around his perfect straight neck and make their way down, disappearing after the collar of his shirt.
Ping.
'I looked around.' His eyes piercing back while he bites his bottom lip slowly and releases. It's a view that got my mouth dry instantly.
'Stop texting me I have work to do.'
Ping.
'Then why are you using your phone?' He replied, smirking from the table.
His beauty is remarkable, those eyes pinned me against the counter, I am lost in this abyss where only I and kay exist.
'Because you're texting me.'
Ping.
'Come serve me, you guys brownies is impressive, count me a regular customer here.'
I grasp my lip between my teeth, holding on to the smile.
'I thought you hate brownies?'
Ping.
'I do.'
My eyes narrowed at the boy with rapid mood swings, right now seems playful.
'You're so odd.' I sent it to him.
Ping.
'Come over.'
I begin typing back a reply when Kate came behind me.
'Who is he?" She whisper.
"Who?" I quickly thrust the phone into my pocket and draw in a sharp breath.
"You know who."
"He is... He's just someone." I stuttered.
"Uhm? Someone?" she stares at me with wary eyes.
"Hmm."
"Someone who's been staring at you for hours?" She thoughtfully asked.
"Yes." I swallow unease and nod.
"And texting you?" She amusedly smiles.
I hesitated and luckily, Rob saved the moment when he exuberantly came with a smile spread over his face.
"Look what I made from the hot guy table." Rob excitedly split some multitude of hundred dollar bills. "I am taking my girl to dinner this weekend."
What? He can't possibly be abundantly tipping the employees here.
"Are you sure he is human?"
"That insane." I shook my head unbelievable at the two people charmed by kay's spelled.
"I'm serious, think about it? He's devilishly handsome, hot to the max, undue perfection, his voice as sweet as berries, and he gives out excessive tips? This isn't coincidental, he is not human unless we're deceived, this isn't the generation we thought we're living." Kate says.
I wanted to tell them to stop but I don't want to go through a long explanation because then I have to tell them everything and who does that to the people they only meet two days ago?
"By the way, he requires your assistance." Rob appended, wiggling his brows at me.
"Rob?" I shoot him a glare.
"I'm serious." He frowns.
"So I am."
Kate drops her arms around my shoulders and I whisper. "Don't be scared. I was just kidding."
"I am not scared." I defend responsively.
"You sure?" She asked.
"I think she is."
"Fine." I Huffed at them.
"Fine, what?" Kate press.
"Please get me a bowl of brownies."
Both smiling, Kate begin. "Get Will to... Oh here. I will get more for the other table." She suggests, handing me a plate of chocolate brownies.
I inhale and exhale before making my way to Kay's table. Those lips of his pulling into a smile as I approach.
"Here is your order." I sit the plate on the table.
"Finally you chose to be a fair attendant." He smirks, jerking his chin up.
"What are you doing here?"
"I shouldn't be at a public restaurant? That's principally unfair." His voice is young and confident and modulated.
"What do you want again? Why are you bribing my co-workers? When are you getting bored of hurting me?"
"Since when did tipping becomes bribing?" His lips curl up into a smirk. "Besides I'm trying to make acquaintance with you."
"This is eccentric." I heave.
"I will tell you what is eccentric." He shifts on the chair and crosses his hands on the table. "I got a call from Vance saying you came running terrified from your last class. What was that about?" His tone was rather intense.
Of course, the guys would tell him about the event.
"Is my business."
"Your business is my business." His gravelly calm voice rolled out the words.
And there he is, the other tough side of Kaiser you don't want to confront.
"You're unbelievable," I say and twirl but his hand hastily clutch my wrist before I can move, freezing me in place.
His fingers begin grazing my skin tenderly, sending several emotions I can never describe, my vision became blur from his relaxing touch.
Wasn't he the person who damaged my fabrics?
"Why are you doing this?" I am brittle. He is toying with my feeling for no exact reason.
I just needed the answer to all of this.
When he is all nice, the next he is all moody. Why? Why is he here all day? Why is he stalking me? Why is he punishing me?
"I have a penchant for something I haven't figure out yet." And so he answered.
His response came with astonishment, I pause with my mouth slightly open, my heart beating hard against my chest.
That's exactly how I feel. I still haven't process what it is too.
"Can we get the bill?" Someone says from the next table, snapping me out of the daze.
I draw away my eyes from his intense ones and nod, sliding out of his mesmerizing hold before turning away.
