Connor x Hank + RK900 x Gavin ~ Meet The Parents (Au)
A/N: so there will be two more one shots in this universe, I have decided. A wedding, and a Fanon meets Canon.
....................
Connor looked over at Hank, then glanced backwards towards his brother and Gavin. The latter of the three mentioned we're asleep, the long drive this early in the morning wearing them out.
"Jeez. I'm more surprised they haven't gotten engaged yet. They've been together longer than we have."
Hank shrugged as he continued to drive his car, "people get married at their own pace, and not everyone want's marriage."
"I guess you're right," Connor agreed with a soft sigh. "It's been two years since either Bryan and I have seen Elijah and now I'm engaged, I don't know how he'll react."
"He isn't your actual dad, so it's not like you need him to hand you off."
Connor shakes his head, "of course, but... he's eccentric."
"In what way?"
"Invite the entirety of Detroit to my wedding eccentric."
"Ahhh."
Connor had debated this meet when Elijah had sent them an invite in the mail. On one hand, his 'dad' was walking him down the aisle, while in the other hand, Elijah might judge his decisions harshly.
Don't get Connor wrong, he loved Elijah like a father, and slipped up more often than Bryan and called Elijah 'dad' from time to time. It didn't mean that he felt like he had to share his love life with his 'dad.'
Maybe he could convince Hank to drive home?
It was too late. By the time the thought prodded his mind, hank was pulling up into Elijah's driveway. The whole car jumped as hank drove onto the driveway. It woke up Gavin and Bryan swiftly.
"Ugh, we're already here?" Bryan groaned.
Connor sighed, "we are." Both brothers mentally prepare themselves for the worse. Hank was going on blind, and Gavin was somewhat understanding of the situation. Elijah was his half brother after all.
Doesn't mean they spent much time together. By the time Gavin was eight, interaction was shorter as Elijah took Connor and Bryan in and raised them. Gavin's dad raised Gavin and that was that.
The four walked slowly to the front door, a sensor detecting their presence.
Then, a slow, metallic, feminine voice, "state your name and business."
"Connor Kamski-"
The voice stopped and the door opened. Hank and Gavin expected the all powerful Kamski, but were surprised to see a woman clad in blue, long blonde hair cascading down her shoulder, bright blue eyes warm and loving.
"Connor, Bryan, welcome home." The boys brightened and walked briskly over, hugging the woman. From the way the two interacted with her, it was obvious to both Hank and Gavin that this woman was a motherly figure to them.
"Chloe, I thought you were on a business trip!" Bryan exclaimed happily.
She giggled, "Elijah told me you're visiting and I got on the first flight home. How could I miss seeing my beautiful boys?" She cupped Connor's face in her hands, "you've grown so adorable Connor!" Then she mimicked the movement with Bryan, "and you've gotten so handsome! Bet you're quite the charmer."
The boys laughed and gestures behind them, Bryan started, "my boyfriend Gavin."
Chloe saw Gavin and recognized him, "Ah, you always did like people with Elijah's personality."
"That is not the reason and you know that!" Bryan flushed.
"I know dear."
Her eyes snagged on Hank, connor speaking, "this is Hank, my fiancé."
"Oh Connor, what a catch. The young lieutenant. From our pyromaniac?"
"It was one time! Why did Kara even tell you?"
Chloe laughed, then gestures inside, "you're going to freeze your fingers off out here, come on it. My husband is in the living room. He's been expecting you."
"He did send the invite," Bryan muttered as the group walked in. Hank and Gavin were assured by trophies and vacation photos of the boys. Bryan and Connor as children was an adorable sight. It also surprised them by how many world adventures they had.
Considering how they talked about their 'dad' they didn't expect so many photos.
When they walked into the living room, they were met with Elijah, casually sitting on the couch, sipping red wine. He didn't speak, but gestured to the two large couches.
"You could at least say hi," Bryan said, walking over. Instinctively, Connor sat closer to Elijah, sitting on the same couch as him, leaving room for either Hank or Bryan. Bryan, not having the same affection as Connor, sat on the other couch, but at the edge so he was close enough to Connor. Hank naturally sat next to Connor, and Gavin sat next to Bryan. He didn't sit as close as they sit together at home, but close enough. Chloe sat next to Elijah, plucking the wine from his hands and setting it down.
"He's right you know. Say hi to them."
"I thought that went without saying."
Bryan rolled his eyes, but didn't say anything.
Connor did decide to speak up, "so," he hummed, "why'd you call us?"
He scoffed, "You think I didn't hear about your engagement? Papers have been raging about it!"
"The precinct was pretty happy that Hank got engaged."
Hank simply shrugged.
"And well, I then recalled I didn't know if Bryan was with someone and low and behold, it's my younger brother."
"Half brother. You aren't his dad, I'm not related to him. Fuck off."
"I wasn't going to call him out on that, just," Elijah looked at Bryan, "you're a ten and he's a five, you can do better."
"You do realize this is why we never call you?" Bryan spat.
Elijah sighs, "so Connor, how long have you and the lieutenant been together?"
"Three years. About. Will be four next fall."
Elijah glanced lazily over at Hank, eyeing him, "well, good taste I suppose."
"Why don't we grab some drinks for everyone, Connor, Bryan? Would you two be dears?" Chloe asked.
"Of course!" Connor exclaimed, jumping up.
Bryan nodded and got up. "Jeez Connor, I swear you're way to eager to please."
"You just aren't very social. It's why you got with Gavin in the first place. Two lone wolves in the end." Connor hummed as they walked away, bumping hips with him.
"Oh boys," Chloe had sighed as they left the room.
"So, in all honesty," Elijah gathered, "what do you think of my boys. Why did you fall for them?"
Gavin sighed, "look, that's personal shit. Brief summary is, he was a good friend when I was an ass and stuck by my side. Showed that I could even love. That's all."
"Didn't think you had a heart Reed."
"Fuck off Anderson."
"Well," Elijah hummed, "what about you?"
Hank got a This soft, fond smile, "we were friends at first. He liked the same music I do. Celebrated his eighteenth with him at a death metal concert with him and his friend. He's a very warm person. I think it would be hard not to fall for him. He gets under your skin, in a good way."
"You better treat him right. I love both of them deeply and I would do anything to hurt those who hurt them."
"How'd you even come to raising them anyways?" Hank asked.
Elijah closed his eyes, recalling the memory.
"My mentor in life, had adopted them when they were only a few months old from an orphanage at the edge of town. As I was always over, they grew somewhat fond of me. When I turned eighteen, Amanda, my mentor, passed and I took on the role as guardian. Started a company and owned half the town so they could grow up with the best. Though, they love my wife more than they love me."
"Did you legally adopt them?"
"Well, I became their legal guardian, but they are not legally my children. They are, however, in my will. If I die, they inherit half the country."
"They don't flex their wealth," Gavin muttered in disbelief.
Elijah shook his head, "they hardly share their last name because of it. They want to be known for what they do, not for who raised them. I'm assuming Connor already mentioned taking your last name."
"I didn't think that was why."
Elijah saw Chloe return with some drinks, the twins out of sight. "Chloe, where'd the boys go?"
"They went to the garden. Why, I have no idea. You two are free to fetch them." Chloe handed Gavin a beer and Hank a glass of Whiskey.
"How'd you-"
"Sweetie, you think my sons don't pick up in your favorites?" Chloe returns to Elijah, sitting next to him, grabbing his wine and taking a sip, "You have better taste than this one."
Gavin rolled his eyes, "Let's look for those idiots."
"I'm pretty sure you're the only idiot here."
"Oh fuck off."
The two headed to the garden, and saw their boyfriends talking to each other. They hid themselves so they could hear a bit.
"Did you really pull me away to talk video games?" Connor asked jokingly.
"Oh please, we both know everyone else doesn't care for it."
"Fair."
"So, mass effect, the romances are bullshit."
"Unless you're straight or a lesbian. The gay romances are such shit."
"Ugh, so agreed. Dragon had it better with even their worst romances."
"Inquisition was amazing. Let me guess, you're the iron bull type?"
"I am the iron bull."
"Ew, t.m.i."
"Well, you liked Dorian's romance."
"Look," Connor pouted, "I dig a character who knows what he wants when he wants it. Though, no one compares to Hank."
"You're such a softie."
Connor laughed, "Thanks Bryan. Should I show Gavin all those candid shots you have."
"Like you weren't the same."
"You see, Hank knows about mine, so they're not candid."
"We should head back before Elijah starts talking about weird things."
"That's his entire personality though."
"It's sad how right you are Connor."
Hank and Gavin decided to head back before they were caught, now knowing their boyfriends liked video games.
Hank technically knew, but he didn't care for them personally.
When They got back, Chloe just shrugged. "Were they talking video games?"
"How'd you know?" Gavin pressed.
"Well," she hummed, "they used to talk my ear off about them all the time."
"Talking smack about us Chloe?" Bryan joked as he and Connor walked back. Bryan with a bottle of vodka and Connor with a coke. He wasn't much for alcohol.
"Yes, exactly."
The two sat by their boyfriends.
The rest of the interaction seemed to go smoothly, teasing here and there, then they were sent home, with Elijah saying something about having the city in his back pocket so don't hurt his boys, that sort of thing.
It was... interesting.
