Writing Prompts: #2
She's back at it again with her obscure book, folks! We've got the other writing prompt collection here, so let's get to it.

"You haven't experienced loss."
////
Connor stood at the opposite side of the roof, his hair in his eyes as he stood motionless, staring at the deviant across from him, their eyes locked.
Bodies littered the ground; dozens of cops and a handful of civilians, dragged there by the deviant. They were scared, and dangerous.
Connor was scared too. He refused to let it show. "Hi, Jacob. My name is Connor." He took a cautious step towards the WR400 model, who had a little boy wrapped in his arms. Connor flashed back to a previous mission - he could only hope this one went smoother than the last.
The deviant fired three rounds, and two slammed into Connor; one in the shoulder, the other in the leg, toppling him. Connor gritted his teeth. Since becoming deviant, the idea of pain was imbedded in him, locked into his brain and allowing him to feel. There were consequences to disobeying orders from CyberLife, of course.
"Jacob, you can stop this!" Connor yelled, slowly pushing himself up, his hands raised above his head. A warning shot in the air - Jacob wouldn't miss the killing shot next time. "I know what's happening, you were afraid of getting hurt! Just let the boy go and I promise you -- "
"No! He's all I have left, please!" The boy was sobbing as the deviant wildly flailed its arm around in the air while it ranted. "Stay away from us!"
"I'm not going to hurt either of you, Jacob." The calm route; his mind had flicked through three other options, but remaining calm and optimistic seemed the best response. "I know what you're going through."
"You haven't experienced loss." Jacob stared at him, chest heaving, his eyes glassy and wild. "You have no idea. I can't lose my boy, I... They were attacking us..."
Connor watched silently, noting the probability of success raising to 76%. That was a good sign.
"I understand." He chose his next words carefully. "You have to trust me, Jacob. Put the gun down and step away from the ledge, and I promise you, it'll be all right."
Jacob wavered and finally dropped the gun. Probability at 87%.
"They're going to kill me, aren't they?"
"They want to know what's going on. They can't destroy you, the laws have changed, but Jacob... you killed these people."
Jacob staggered back half a step and Connor tensed, still standing stone still. "If you come with me, I promise you and the boy will be okay."
"He's just a little kid... I had to keep him safe." Jacob watched him pleadingly, only taking a second to tear his eyes away to glance at the kid, who was quietly sniffling against his coat.
"Please, Jacob. You can trust me."
And probability was wavering between 99% and 100%.
Jacob took a shaky step forward and collapsed to the ground. Connor cautiously walked over and gently pulled the kid a safe distance away from the ledge. "Come on," he said softly, offering Jacob a hand.
Deviancy had offered Connor a different take on his job - he felt pity, remorse, guilt, all so heavy on his metaphorical heart. It changed him. He helped Jacob to his feet and Jacob spewed apologies, tears slipping down his face. He held the boy's hands tightly. Connor kept quiet, but he thought hard on what he'd seen.
His job wasn't going to get any easier for a long while.

"Destorying lives, one person at a time."
////
"Hank?" Connor stood in the doorway, listening to the quiet of the house. Not even Sumo was making noise, quietly curled up on the couch, as if he too could feel that something was off today.
Connor stepped carefully around the broken glass shattered by the table, and he looked down the darkened hall. He listened again and this time heard the telltale sounds of a tv on, faint and almost on silent. "Hank?" he called softly, feeling all too obvious and loud in the stillness of the house. It made him uneasy for a reason he couldn't understand.
He peeked his head around into Hank's bedroom, to see Hank slouched against his dresser, his head hanging. Connor kneeled next to him and performed a quick scan, blinking when he finished. "What are you doing, Lieutenant?"
Hank snorted and didn't lift his head. He didn't answer, either. Connor sat beside him, hesitantly pressed up against him. Hank felt too warm.
"Y'know why I became a cop, Connor?"
Connor watched him, silent for a moment. "Why?"
Hank eyed the pattern on his carpet. "Because I wanted to make a difference," he murmured. "Plus those sonsabitches told me I couldn't," he added dryly and chuckled, before he pushed his forehead against his knee and closed his eyes. "And now what are we doing?" He swallowed and turned his head from Connor.
Connor looked at the tablet resting on Hank's leg, opened to the story he'd been reading. Cautiously, Connor picked it up and began scrolling through, reading the recent story.
... wrongfully persecuted by the Detroit Police Department's Lieutenant Hank Anderson as the murderer of 2032's Rosewood case involving seventeen-year old girls Amy Perso and Clara Williams, Allistor Green was himself murdered in his single cell late last night... Fowler refused to give our people a comment.
Connor looked up at Hank. "Destroying lives, one person at a time," he muttered as he took a swig from a bottle Connor hadn't noticed earlier.
"Lieutenant..."
"F*cking hell, Connor, I wanted to do good," he rambled, leaning his head back to rest against the wooden dresser as he stared up at the blank ceiling. "Wanted... wanted this to all mean something."
Connor hesitated uncertainly, before slowly taking the bottle away. Hank didn't try to fight him. "I just wanted to be a good cop."
"You're one of the best cops I've ever known," Connor said firmly as he moved to get into Hank's line of sight, drawing his attention. "One of the best men I know," he added, quirking an eyebrow. That barely brought a smile to Hank's face - he simply sighed and closed his eyes again. "I think you should stop reading the story. Understanding that it's you, I think you've read it too many times to count, but you can't stop yourself," he said.
Hank waved his hand in a vague gesture. "You're good," he grunted as he sat up and leaned over his knees. Connor paused before hauling him to his feet and dragging him to bed.
"I think it would be best if I stayed here tonight." He cocked his head. "Would that be okay?"
Hank blew out a breath and nodded. "Fine. Go ahead. I'm going to sleep."
"Good. And Lieutenant?" He paused at the door to the bedroom. "It wasn't your fault. You're a good cop."
Hank rolled his eyes but managed a weary sigh as he waved him off. "Thank you, Connor."
"Good night, Lieutenant." Connor only wished he could do more. He hesitated outside the door, and slowly sat down and pressed his back against the door, his hands resting on his knees. He remained like that for hours, intent on protecting Hank.
Hank didn't say it, but he was secretly thankful for Connor existing in his life.

"I wish you'd stop and realise just how loud you're being."
////
Androids shouldn't have been able to get drunk, yet there they were -- the leaders of Jericho, the inner circle -- staggering down the empty streets of Detroit, still raged and torn by war. Laughing as if they didn't have a care in the world.
"I wish you'd stop and realise just how loud you're being," Simon mused as he leaned against Markus, who chuckled and looped an arm around him lazily, then pressed his head against Simon's.
"Loud? 'M the soberest one here," Markus drawled, pressing a lazy kiss to Simon's forehead, making him flush an even darker blue.
"Shh!" Simon clapped a hand over his mouth and Markus giggled.
"Guys guys guys." North stopped and turned, holding her arms out to her sides. They all stopped too and stared at her expectantly.
She fell backwards into the snow and began making a snow angel, humming, her eyes closed. Simon joined her and Markus stood over them, smiling. Josh laid in the snow, unmoving, a tired smile resting on his face.
"We don't get out much, huh?" he murmured, staring up into the sky. Markus grunted as he landed beside him. Josh gave him a brief, rare smile and Markus smiled back and closed his eyes as Simon rested his head on his chest. North rolled over to them all, covered in snow.
They were free. North smiled at the thought, laughing, until she was laughing so hard she was clutching her stomach and tears raced down her cheeks. The relief was overwhelming; they were free.
Markus grinned at the sound, his eyes crinkling. Simon smiled at that and squeezed his hand. None of them bothered to move; not until Markus realised that Josh was almost asleep.
He carried him back and Simon and North talked about their victory in the war, politics and how they were going to tackle the situation.
They were all tired, but their determination was stronger than their exhaustion. They would keep fighting as long as they had to. Hopefully, it would only be a little while longer.

"The sun hasn't even come up, and you want me to do what now?"
////
"Markus. Markus!"
The android in question groaned and rolled over, startled out of his sleep. Well, they called it sleep, but androids didn't need it. Sleep was easier to say than recharge, and a lot more human.
"Connor, what -- " He pushed himself up into a sitting position and blinked a couple times. "Is something wrong?" He looked up at his boyfriend.
Connor shook his head. "No, but... I want to go outside."
Markus smiled up at him, arching an eyebrow. "The sun hasn't even come up, and you want me to do what now?"
Connor looked embarrassed for a second, his LED whirling a soft yellow. "I... I want to look at the stars," he explained, shifting his stance. "There's also a meteor shower incoming."
Markus stood up, nodding. "Meteor shower, huh?" He glanced past Connor's head to the window. With a grateful smile, Connor began to lead the way through Jericho to the top of the ship.
They made it to the deck and Markus leaned against the rails and looked up. Connor joined him, the wind jostling his curls. Markus looked over and smiled at him as the meteors started to shoot past.
Connor happily gabbered about space facts dating all the way from the 1960's to the present day, spouting about how far they'd come. Markus listened patiently and watched the stars.
"Make a wish," he said, glancing at Connor again, who paused mid-sentence to meet his gaze.
"Oh." He thought for a second, LED spinning slowly. "Got it."
"You aren't gonna say it out loud?"
"That defeats the purpose, Markus," Connor argued, gesturing with a hand. Markus's lips curved into a smile and he nodded, glancing down. Connor smiled in turn, his eyes crinkling up.
"Always playing it by the rules, eh, Connor?" he mused, watching a meteor zip past the moon. Connor watched him a moment before stepping closer and interlocking their hands, and pressing a light kiss to his temple.
Markus flushed bright blue and pursed his lips to hold back his grin. Satisfied, Connor smiled and watched the stars, content.

"All of my mistakes lead up to this moment of truth."
////
Luther took a calming breath (an action he'd only seen in humans, but one he wanted to recreate nonetheless) and stood in front of the door.
"All of my mistakes lead up to this moment of truth," he murmured and glanced down to little Alice at his side, tilting her head and smiling.
"Open the door," she prompted, excited. Luther closed his eyes briefly before entering, in one movement bringing out the bouquet in his hand.
Kara looked at him, a little shocked at first, but she eventually grinned and carefully stepped up to him. "Luther? What's this?" She looked to Alice for help, but Alice smiled and took a step, her hands behind her back.
Luther offered Kara a sheepish smile. "I wasn't sure which were your favourite..."
"These are beautiful," Kara praised as she stepped into the house and put the flowers in a vase. Alice sat on the couch, watching the two. Luther stood behind her nervously.
He had... grown feelings for Kara. Romantically, that was. He hoped she didn't dismiss him for being foolish, but he truly did like her, and was going to ask to be her boyfriend.
It was a concept Alice had found in a tv show one day; she'd pointed and said, "Luther, why don't you do that for Kara?"
He couldn't say no to that face. And besides -- flowers were cheap, but efficient.
"So what's the occasion?" Kara brushed her hands off and set the vase in the middle of the table. Luther offered a small smile.
"Kara..." He glanced at Alice, who nodded encouragingly. "I... I read that it was important to give flowers to the one you love."
Kara paused, playing with her fingers. A bashful smile spread across her face and she took a hesitant step towards him, looking up. "You love me?"
Luther smiled, his eyes soft. "I do."
Kara stepped closer, her eyes bright, a smile wide on her face. That was a rare sight. Luther hesitantly took her hand within his own and she leaned up and kissed his cheek.
Alice blushed and looked away, pulling a face. "Gross."
Kara smiled up at Luther, who smiled back. "That wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be," he sighed, relieved. Kara shook her head, blushing a little.

"I don't need your judgement."

So a Kara x reader was requested - I usually don't write anything x reader, but eh. Try everything once, right? I'll write this non-gendered, just in case. (They/them)
Y/N frowned down at their hands, then glanced at the android across the way. Kara and Alice were sitting by the fire. Y/N could see Kara's blank stare -- emotionless, empty. Robotic. That made Y/N frown a little.
Y/N stood and walked over to her, rubbing their hands together. "Kara?"
Kara turned to face them, looking concerned. Watching over two humans was never an easy task, and getting them both into Jericho was even harder to pull off.
"Is something wrong?"
"No, I'm just... Are you okay?" Y/N said, watching her. Kara blinked and carefully unwrapped from Alice, then walked the two of them a safe distance away. Kara's face was shrouded in shadow when she answered.
"You've taken a lot on," Y/N mentioned, rubbing their arms. It was cold down in the broken ship -- most androids couldn't feel it. Kara watched Y/N quietly. She looked tired.
"I'm fine." She flashed a quick smile and Y/N sighed, taking a step closer to her.
"This is too much for you to handle alone," Y/N said softly, fixing their jacket to try and trap some heat in. Kara didn't answer as she stared off into the fire, towards Alice. "Look, I understand you want to do this yourself but -- "
"I don't need your judgement."
That made Y/N blink in surprise. Kara was never short with them; Kara was patient, caring, loving. Kara didn't explain herself further, but tucked her arms against her chest.
"Okay. Sorry I asked," Y/N muttered and went to walk away. Kara grabbed their sleeve.
"Wait. Y/N -- " She bit her lip and slowly looked up. Her blue eyes were filling with tears, and Y/N watched, captivated by the sight. Kara never cried, never got too terribly emotional... unless it came to Alice. Kara closed her eyes and took a shaky breath she didn't need. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it."
"Hey," Y/N said, turning to face her properly. "It's okay, Kara. You've been going for so long... it's okay to need help."
Kara looked away and distractedly brushed a strand of dark hair out of her eyes. Once safe, it had faded back to her natural brunette colour -- personally, Y/N liked the other one just as well, but thought she looked beautiful regardless.
Y/N had had a hesitant crush on Kara for quite a while, now -- and had no way to tell her. Even if they did, Kara wouldn't love them back, right? Then again, she was deviant...
Y/N tried not to think about it as they stared into Kara's eyes, searching for an answer to a question they hadn't asked yet.
"I... need your help," she finally murmured, meeting their gaze. Her hands moved to clench theirs in a tight grasp; Y/N didn't let go. "It's hard to admit, but it's... difficult to do all of this alone." She looked embarrassed to be saying this.
Y/N offered her a smile, tilting their head. "I'd be glad to help you, Kara. You mean a lot to me." The pause before that sentence said everything they couldn't.
Somehow, they knew Kara understood. After a moment longer, Kara smiled an honest smile, her dimples showing, and that made Y/N smile back.
And then, Kara leaned in and kissed them.
"Thank you," she said softly, eyes averted. Her cheeks were a pale blue; she was blushing. Y/N had always thought she looked cute like that. Before saying anything else, Kara squeezed Y/N's hands one more time before quietly slipping back to Alice, leaving Y/N to wonder what just happened.
Either way, they were on the same page now. Things would work out. With a renewed energy, Y/N walked back over and stood over the fire. They felt more than saw Kara send them a secretive smile, almost grateful. A warm feeling settled in Y/N's chest as they watched their android family warm up. They were going to be okay.

"Honestly, the worst thing you can do is stare."
////
Simon staggered back to camp and arrived with a clang as he accidentally knocked over some metal pipes. The leaders (Markus, North, Connor and Josh) ran out to see what the matter was, and were soon followed by half of Jericho.
Simon knew he was in the right place when he heard crunching of boots on snow, then metal, then quiet shuffling. He tried to run a quick scan but nothing seemed to work.
"Honestly, the worst thing you can do is stare." And he collapsed to the floor in a heap, coated in blue blood and missing an arm, his eyes a pale blue -- he was blind.
"Simon!" Markus ran over and picked him up in his arms. He was a lightweight, and that was worrisome. Markus hugged him close to his chest as he hurried him to the med bay. Lucy sat up straighter and watched as he laid him on the ground gently and tried to wake him up.
Lucy walked over and kneeled, then put a hand on his head and paused. Markus watched worriedly, his hand still clutching Simon's.
"Markus..? Don't- don't leave me again," Simon wavered, tightening his grip. Lucy quietly got to work, occasionally asking Markus to chime in or step back.
"Please, please don't, Markus -- "
"I'm right here, we're not going anywhere, okay?" he soothed, putting his other hand on his shoulder. Simon's chest heaved as he stared blankly upwards, his lips parted.
"Only you," he croaked, jabbing a finger at his chest. "Only -- only you matter."
"Simon -- "
"I thought I was a goner, Markus. I was -- I was dead, they deactivated me... " Simon rambled, and tears slid down his face. Lucy replaced his arm and wiped the blood off of him. Markus couldn't believe how much a synthetic heart could hurt for another. He felt like he was about to break down any moment.
"Shh, you're okay," he whispered, wiping his face. "Simon, I'm right here."
"Don't leave," Simon wavered. Markus sat impossibly closer, almost leaning on top of him. "It's dark, please don't leave."
"Listen to my heart beat." It felt strange to say that, especially to Simon, but if that would calm him down and soothe him, Markus would do anything. He shifted to lie beside him, still clutching his hand, and he slowly pulled Simon against his chest.
Simon went quiet as he listened to it pump. After a couple minutes his eyes slid closed and he fell asleep -- basically the same things that humans did every night, but less often; it was less necessary for androids to sleep.
Markus didn't move. Lucy poured some more Thirium down Simon's throat to replace what he'd lost. Markus watched quietly, finally huffing a quiet sigh of relief.
"He'll be all right," Lucy finally said, her voice soft. She moved back to her spot by the fire and sat there, staring into the flames. "He's glad to have you, Markus. Just try not to have him alone for so long again. He'll need you now more than ever."
"I'll stay with him," Markus promised, looking back down at Simon, who finally looked at peace. Markus pushed a strand of his messy hair off of his forehead and leaned back to get more comfortable.
He would never leave Simon all alone again.

Those were quite fun. Hope you enjoyed the x reader; I don't think I'll do more, because I prefer the writing style I have. But either way, it was fun to do. Any other requests for writing prompts are welcome. :)
