~3rd Person POV~

Markus, North, Josh, and Simon ran through the shipyard with empty backpacks strapped to their backs. The ensemble of machines jumped from container to container as they maneuvered through the shadows of the night with little light as company. They dodged humans, androids, and drones in order to reach CyberLife's storage site. Markus took down a single security drone as it was patrolling too close for comfort. With a constructed plan, the android took down the small flying device with ease without warning a single soul. North complimented his takedown as they safely made it to the CyberLife cargo.

"Fill your bags," Josh said as he took off his backpack. Simon, North, and Markus followed suit and filled their bags. As the RK200 grabbed packs of blue blood, he heard footsteps. He stopped what he was doing and peered past the cargo to see a human was approaching. When the person stepped into the light, Markus' heterochromia eyes widened as he muttered the woman's name. "(Y/n)..."

"Markus, what're you doing here?" She questioned, gasping at the sight of the other androids with him. She noticed their backpacks were filled with biocomponents and thirium. "You're stealing? Why?"

"(Y/n), please, just listen—"

"No! You're stealing, Markus! That isn't right!"

North leaned over and whispered in his ear. "If she keeps shouting, our cover is blown."

Markus knew this all too well and he tried to approach (Y/n). She immediately backed away from the android. "Please, just hear me out."

She shook her head. "I've known you for years, Markus. I heard what happened to Carl, but... he wouldn't want you to steal."

"We need these for our people," Simon said, hoping his gentle words would reach her.

(Y/n) glanced at the PL600 and swallowed hard. "I-I can't let you get away this." She yelled out for help and Markus reacted quickly. He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her behind the cargo as they heard more footsteps approaching. The android covered her mouth, muffling her shouts for help. (Y/n) tried to break away from Markus, but the machine refused to let her go. She kicked and clawed at him, but none of her tactics budged the android an inch.

"I heard her scream from over here," a man said to his fellow guard.

"You sure you aren't hearing things, (B/n)?"

"I know what my sister sounds like."

"Why was she even here tonight?"

"(Y/n) was here to check the cargo for the company she works for. Haven Industry wanted to send someone right away and it just happened to be her."

The other man rolled his eyes. "Talk about a shitty thing to do this late at night. Let's check around back to make sure she didn't wander off." (B/n) nods and the duo run in the opposite direction. Markus was able to recognize (B/n)'s voice as he and (Y/n) were Carl's neighbors way before he became a part of the artist's family.

Once they were out of earshot, Markus released (Y/n). He tried to reach out and take her hand, but she slapped it away. "(Y/n)—"

"I know what you're going to say, Markus. I respect that you want to help your people, but stealing is wrong."

"We can't just walk into CyberLife and ask for parts and thirium," North snaps at the woman.

"I know that!" (Y/n) snarls at the female android. She then moved her eyes back to Markus. "Please, Markus, don't do this."

"I... I'm sorry, (Y/n)," he apologizes.

The woman shook her head in disbelief, tears trickling down her cheeks. "You're not the Markus I know and love. You've changed."

The RK200 was left speechless at her words. A pain shot through his chest as he watched the tears slide down her cheeks. He couldn't bear the sensation and closed the distance between him and (Y/n). She tried to push him away, but her actions were in vain. He absorbed her punches and slaps so he could take her in his arms.

After tiring herself out, (Y/n) slumps in Markus' arms and hugs him back. Her sorrow was gnawing away at her heart and she couldn't bear it any longer. "Markus, where did you go after that night?" The android explained everything and about how he was almost shut down after the fiasco at Carl's. "You could've come to me. You know I would help you with anything."

"I know, (Y/n). You, Carl, and (B/n) were the family I didn't realize I had until I lost it all." Markus was being yanked all around by the emotions overflowing his hardware. He was joyful, sad, and confused all at once. He tried to fight the sensations, but nothing could unlock him from the shackles of his emotions.

"Markus, we've gotta hurry," Josh said. Said android pulled away from (Y/n), but kept his eyes glued to her. Josh placed a hand on his shoulder. "We can't allow her to tell the authorities we were here."

Markus faced the PJ500 with narrowed eyes as he stood in front of (Y/n) protectively. "What're you saying?"

"You know what I mean, Markus." Josh felt awful for suggesting such a horrible thing after seeing the love for (Y/n) in Markus' eyes.

"We're not resulting to bloodshed."

"Markus," North spoke up.

"If you want to kill her just for this, I don't want anything to do with Jericho."

Simon respected Markus' words and smiled. "You love her that much?"

The RK200 was silent for a few seconds before responding. "Yes."

"Markus..." (Y/n) mumbled in shock. She glanced between the four androids, a sigh escaping her lips. "Just... take whatever you need. I won't tell anyone."

The androids were stunned at her change in demeanor. "Are you serious?" North questioned.

(Y/n) nods, stepping away from Markus. "Yes. I won't let Markus abandon his people just for me. And, if you're willing, the truck next to the cargo is full of biocomponents for a vast array of androids. They'll be helpful in saving any injured people you have."

"That's too risky," Josh said.

"If you need help getting the key to manually drive the truck, I'll gladly distract the guards while one of you snag it," (Y/n) offers.

"You'd do that for us?" North asked.

"Yes, I would."

Markus knew the androids at Jericho were in dire need of extra biocomponents. He accepted (Y/n)'s idea and went to the security checkpoint. The young woman knocked on the door while Markus waited in silence to slip in once the men were gone. The two guards on duty headed to the door and recognized (Y/n). "Miss (L/n), is there a problem with Haven's cargo?"

"Yes. It seems I can't find shipping container E-N815. I can't see very well in the dark and I don't have a flashlight with me. Could you help me?"

"Yes, Ma'am."

(Y/n) left with the two men and Markus entered through the door. He searched the station and finally found the key. The android snatched it up and ran out of the building to his fellow androids. He tossed the key to Josh, who seemed confused. "Take the truck and return to Jericho."

"What about you, Markus?" Simon asked.

"I want to make sure (Y/n) gets home safely. I'll be back soon."

"Fine. We'll head back to Jericho," Josh exclaimed. "While you're gone, we'll patch up the wounded." He, Simon, and North hopped into the truck and drove off.

Markus waited in hiding for (Y/n) to return. When she did, the guards were smiling as she thanked them. "You're welcome, Miss (L/n)," one guard responds. They left the woman and returned to their post. Markus emerged from the darkness, frightening (Y/n) in the process. "I thought you left with the others."

"I want to make sure you get home safely," the android replies.

(Y/n) knew she didn't need an escort, but she wanted more time with Markus. "Alright. Let's head to my car."

-(Y/n)'s House-

"Welcome back to the neighborhood, Markus," (Y/n) smiles as she pulled into her driveway. When the android got out of the vehicle, he glanced towards Carl's house next door. The young woman saw the sorrow in his eyes and patted him on the back. "I received a call from the hospital while I was distracting the guards. Carl will make a full recovery and he'll be back home in a few days."

Markus was relieved to know the artist would be alright. He wanted to see the man that was a father to him, but he knew now wasn't the right time. He had too much unfinished business with his own people. The android followed (Y/n) inside and wandered into the living room. Memories filled his mind as he remembered his time with (Y/n) and (B/n).

"Markus?" The young woman called out to the dazed android. He turned to face her when he heard the worry in her voice. "Are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm fine."

"If you need to head back to Jericho, I won't stop you. I know your people need you."

"In the shipyard, why did you change your mind?" Markus suddenly asked.

(Y/n) sat down on the couch and crossed her legs. "The moment you sacrificed yourself for me. You would risk your life just for a human and I knew I couldn't let that happen."

Markus sat next to her. "You're not just a human to me, (Y/n)."

At hearing his words, the woman leaned over and pecked him on the cheek. "Thank you, Markus."

He smiled and placed a hand on her knee. "You're one of the reasons I'm able to experience so many emotions."

There was only a single question buzzing inside (Y/n)'s head. "When did you become deviant?"

"That night Carl was taken to the hospital."

"I should've went over there when I heard yelling. If I had, maybe Leo wouldn't have gotten away with lying to the police. Then again, if I had intervened, you wouldn't have found Jericho. I'm glad so many of you are finally breaking from the shackles of humanity and finding yourselves in this world. Whatever you need, I'll be there to help, Markus."

The android smiled and kissed her gently on the lips. "Thank you, (Y/n)."
