|Connor x Reader| {Part III}

A/n: So, Wattpad deleted this part two times and I had to rewrite this three times. Here's the finale of the mini series with Connor. I felt like this one was kinda sloppy since I had to rewrite it three times, but I hope some of you enjoy it. Love you all!!!

~(Y/n)'s POV~

After Connor and I made it safely out of CyberLife, Hank drove us to his house. It had been a couple of weeks since Connor's daring mission to upload my memories into another RZ800 prototype. The Lieutenant provided sanctuary for us and we were more than grateful. As Hank went off to work every morning, Connor and I would spend time together or with Sumo. The St. Bernard was more than welcoming when it came to the two of us spending the day in the small abode.

Today was just another uneventful day. Sumo was laying beside me on the couch and resting his head in my lap. Connor was sitting at the kitchen table, fiddling with something in his hands. I ran a hand through Sumo's fur, earning a deep grumble from the sleeping canine. "I've never felt so... bored."

Connor dropped what he was messing with and turned in the chair to face me. "Yes. The mood is one of my least favorites."

"The Lieutenant could spare time and buy a few new books. I've read the same novel twenty-seven times."

"I could ask the Lieutenant if he could buy a few books on his way home," Connor offered.

"He will be tired once he gets home. I do not wish to add to his exhaustion." My eyes glanced to the coffee table and saw the picture of Hank's deceased son, Cole. Reaching across Sumo, I gently grab the frame and gaze at the photo. "What if CyberLife tears us apart? We are family to him, Connor."

He stood up and made his way over to me. Sitting next to me, Connor cupped my cheeks in his hands. "That would never happen, (Y/n)."

"We must find a place that keeps the Lieutenant out of harm's way. The more time we spend here, the more we are risking his life. There must be a place we can take refuge and CyberLife wouldn't be able to find us."

Connor glanced away, his hands falling into his lap. He seemed to be deep in thought and I didn't want to interrupt. He stared at the television before his eyes widened and snapped his attention back to me. "I've heard deviants mention a place called 'Jericho'. But, I do not know where to find it."

The name rang a bell and it took me a few minutes to reconstruct my memories. My (e/c) eyes met Connor's chocolate ones. "There's an abandoned cargo ship by the name of 'Jericho'. But, it's possible that isn't what they were talking about."

"Do you remember where the ship is, (Y/n)?" Connor asked.

"Yes."

Suddenly, Hank barged in with sweat trailing down his forehead. When he saw us, he dashed over and grabbed our arms, pulling us off the couch. Sumo's head fell from my lap as the man shoved us towards his bedroom. "Hide, now!"

Connor and I exchanged puzzled glances, but we did as Hank ordered. Connor hid in the closet while I slid under the bed. The Lieutenant stormed out of the room just as more voices were heard. From my hiding spot, I could see Connor trying to hide his presence with Hank's clothes. Our LEDs were red as we both heard who else was in the living room. "We've orders from CyberLife to search all residences who were connected with models RK800 and RZ800."

"Ya need a fuckin' warrant to search my house, jackass," Hank spat vehemently.

"We have one issued by the state of Michigan, Lieutenant Anderson," one man answered. "If you like, we can show it to—"

"Search my damn house and then fucking leave. You won't find shit."

The other man didn't respond and I could hear multiple pairs of boots stomping across the floor. From under the bed, my eyes met with Connor's. He placed a finger over his lips, signaling for me to be quiet.

Just then, a couple of men entered the bedroom and began their search. When one man was close to the bed, I scooted back silently and used the shadows to my advantage. Grabbing a pillow, I used it as a shield when one man checked under the bed.

From the corner of my eye, I saw the other CyberLife guard searching the closet. Watching him scrounge through the clothes made my anxiety rise tremendously. In my mind, I was screaming for him not to find Connor. "Anything?" The guard who was checking the closet called out.

"Just a damn pillow. Guess you didn't find anything, either?"

"Abso-fucking-lutely nothing. Guess this geezer was right when he said we wouldn't find shit."

"Maybe the others found something. Let's return to the living room and regroup."

I tossed the pillow aside when both men had left the room. Peering into the closet, I was able to make out Connor's form. He was blending in and using the clothes to his advantage, appearing as if he was just another outfit in the closet. He emerged from his hiding spot and smiled at me. Offering me a hand, he helped me out from under the bed and onto my feet.

Out of nowhere, a loud banging was heard from the living room. Conor and I snapped our gazes to the door and heard Hank cursing the guards over and over again as they left. "Ya fuckers better not come back or I'll kick all of your asses with my foot as a warrant!"

Hearing the front door being slammed shut, Connor and I left Hank's room and headed to the living room. The sound of Sumo barking joyfully filled both of us with relief. The canine bounded over and tackled me and Connor, licking our faces. I smile, scratching behind his ears. Connor freed himself from Sumo while I kept petting the large dog. "Lieutenant, (Y/n) and I must find Jericho."

"Jericho? What the hell is that?" Hank questioned.

I gently nudged Sumo off me and stood beside Connor. "A sanctuary for deviants."

Hank crossed his arms with a slightly disapproving look. "What if CyberLife finds you both out on the streets? They won't hesitate to shoot your asses."

"We have to try," Connor sharply responded.

Hank glanced between the two of us before responding. "Fine. But, if you don't find this 'Jericho', you get your asses right back here." The man then rubbed the back of his neck. "I sound like a dad..."

I smiled at him. "You are the only family Connor and I have, Lieutenant."

I could tell from his sorrowful expression that I made it even harder on him to let us go. Hank heaved a depressing sigh, uncrossing his arms. "If it doesn't work out, you know I'll be here."

Connor and I smiled softly at him before leaving the room and changing our clothes. I changed into a fresh new pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a jacket. I searched my belongings for anything that would hide my LED, but I had nothing. While I was tossing things around, Connor walked in with something in his hands. Peering at the object, I saw it was a beanie that matches the one he was wearing. He placed it on my head and gently tugged it down over my LED and just above my eyebrows.

Once the beanie was snuggly on my head, Connor pressed a gentle kiss to my lips before pulling away. He gingerly slid his hand into mine and we left Hank's house with a 'goodbye'.

On the streets of Detroit, CyberLife guards were scattered about, searching the buildings and residences. Since we are the most advanced androids CyberLife has ever created, I wasn't surprised to see so many guards searching for us. I gripped Connor's hand tightly when a couple of guards walked by us, their eyes glued to our forms. Unconsciously, I wrapped my free arm around Connor's and stepped closer to him as we walked. We didn't make it two feet before the guards called out for us to stop. Freezing in our tracks, the two men asked us to face them. Listening, we turned and gave them our full attention.

"Is there a problem?" Connor asked, placing his other hand over mine that was gripping the sleeve of his jacket.

"We're looking for two deviants and we've been ordered to check everyone. Remove your hats," one man orders.

Connor was completely silent before delivering a kick to the guard's stomach and punching the other in the face. With our hands still connected, we ran down the street as we heard yelling from behind us. Glancing behind, I saw a handful of men chasing after us.

Sensing my distraught, Connor sent me a reassuring smile as he pulled me into an alleyway and up a metal staircase located on the side of a building. The metal clanked under our feet as we ran up the stairs. The CyberLife guards were on our heels, but with our agility, we were able to put distance between us and them.

On top of the building, we searched for a way to escape. "We'll have to jump," Connor announces.

"That's suicide! We need to find another way, Connor."

"There is no other way, (Y/n). Just trust me."

Reluctantly, I followed him to the ledge of the building. The large gap between buildings caused me to shake with fear. "I can't make that jump."

"Yes, you can. I'll go first and catch you if necessary," Connor stated.

Without wasting another second, Connor leapt the gap with ease. He tucked into a roll and safely made it to the other building. Even though he was the one jumping, it felt as if I was the one doing it because of my skyrocketing nervousness. Hearing the guards closing in, Connor shouted for me to jump. I tried to shove my fear aside, but I couldn't. Fighting against the feeling, I get a running start and leap. When Connor saw I wasn't going to make the gap, he lunged forward and grabbed my wrists in his hands. My body slammed against the brick of the building as he held my wrists and pulled me up to safety.

The guards reached the ledge and saw us on the next building over. They aimed their guns and fired at us. Luckily, Connor and I were able to find a way down without being severely injured. Back on the ground, we lost the guards and run to the Port, searching for Jericho. I took the lead since I was the one who had seen the ship from afar before and knew where to go.

When the cargo ship came into view, I smiled in relief. We searched for an entrance and found one on the top deck. We found a safe way up and entered the large ship. The decrepit boat was dark and little light was present to guide us through the corridor. Running footsteps echoed around us and we froze. The echo ceased and we followed where it came from.

Reaching the hull, the space was more open and we could see myriads of androids. Connor and I stared in amazement at how many of our kind were here. Our amazement was short-lived when we heard the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back. "Don't move."

Connor and I did as we were told. The android holding us at gunpoint escorted us down a staircase and through the throng of machines. An android with heterochromia eyes, who I assumed was the leader, stood in front of us. "Who are you?"

Connor stepped forward. "I'm Connor and this is (Y/n)."

"Wait." A WR400 model approaches us from the crowd. She tears off our beanies and tosses them aside. "You two are the advanced prototypes CyberLife is hunting down. They're looking everywhere for you both."

"If we give ourselves to CyberLife, they'll tear us apart and shut us down. I don't want to be separated from Connor, ever," I reply, taking Connor's hand in mine and intertwining our fingers.

The leader of Jericho glanced at our hands before meeting our gazes. "Welcome to Jericho."

"Markus, they can't stay here!" The WR400 argues.

The RK200 meets her heated gaze. "We are all deviants and wanted by the law. There is no difference between us and them. Also, I want to help all our people, North. I won't turn anyone away."

"Thank you," I smile at Markus. He nods and walks off with North. We walked over to a pile of crates and I sat on top of one. Connor stood beside the crate I was sitting on and examined the numerous of androids that surrounded us.

After a prolonged silence, Connor sat next to me. Taking advantage of his closeness, I lean against him and close my eyes. "I already miss Sumo and Hank."

"Me, too, (Y/n)." Connor rests his head against mine. I open my eyes and saw a few of the androids smiling at us. With the gentle gestures, it already felt like home.

"We'll need to visit them when all of this is over with. Maybe... Maybe we'll be able to live in peace with everyone and we could stay together without having to worry about CyberLife any longer."

Connor smiled and kissed the top of my head. "We will, (Y/n). I'll make sure of it."
