~3rd Person POV~
"What the fuck do you two want?!" Hank shouts at the two androids, sloshing his scotch around in the shot glass.
"We have a homicide case that was reported thirty-seven minutes ago, Lieutenant," Connor answers.
"We must hurry to the scene," (Y/n) adds.
"I swear, you two are super fucking creepy together," Hank groans. "And you both go everywhere together. Why's that?"
"Simple, Lieutenant. Connor is an RK800 while I am an RZ800. We were built and programmed simultaneously to work together in harmony. While Connor is a detective, I am a criminologist."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Harmony and bullshit. Just get in the damn car." Hank grabs his keys and leaves the bar with the two androids in tow.
In the car, Hank was filled in on the details from his teammates. Even though it has been months working with the two androids, he had to admit they'd grown on him. Not only had they both taken bullets for him, but they've also proved to be his family even though they are quite stubborn and annoying sometimes.
-Crime Scene-
Arriving at their destination, Hank already knew the two androids wouldn't listen to him and let them out of the car. Officer Taylor allowed them onto the crime scene when she recognized Hank. (Y/n) suddenly turned her head, scanning her surroundings. "There are signs of a struggle near the front door and the garden."
"The victim was spotted in the garden and became a target. Before the suspect could attack, their target escaped into the house," Connor said. "The victim was randomly selected."
Hank raised a brow. "How'd you deduce that, huh?"
"If the victim was a planned target, the suspect would've studied all points of entry and exit beforehand. There is also no organization in the crime. Every move was sloppy," (Y/n) answered.
The Lieutenant was shocked at their quick deduction of the scene without having seen the victim yet. Hank and the machines enter the small abode and spot the dead body on the living room floor. Blood painted the room like an eerie canvas. Connor scanned the body and informed Hank of how she died. "Multiple lacerations from a pair of hedge clippers are found all over her body. The one that killed her was the one delivered to her throat."
"Police didn't find a murder weapon. It must be around here," Hank said.
"Or the suspect took it as a prize. It's common for these types of unplanned murders for the suspect to take the tool that provided them the thrill of the kill as a trophy," (Y/n) spoke up.
"Even with it still covered in the victim's blood?"
"That would be even more rewarding to psychopaths, Lieutenant."
"So, we're dealin' with a psychopath. Great..."
"And a very smart one. They knew exactly where to stab our victim without killing her. The freshest wound is the one along her throat," Connor added as he stood beside (Y/n).
Hank placed a hand on the wall. "Probably wanted to watch her beg for her life. What a fuckin' sick thing to do." He then looked between the two androids when a random thought hit him. "Y'know, you two could run the entire police department. You've figured out more shit than a normal officer would in hours or even days."
"That is our programming," Connor and (Y/n) answered in unison.
"Still damn creepy if you ask me..."
Connor and Hank went into the kitchen while (Y/n) headed to the bedroom down the hall. The female android was able to pick up the faint sound of something scraping against the hardwood floor. Cautiously, she enters the bedroom and finds a portion of the floor scraped near the closet. Examining the marks closely, (Y/n) realized they were made by a sharp blade. When she checked the closet, someone lunged out at her and she recognized the weapon as hedge clippers. The blade had cut her cheek, but caused no other damage.
The middle-aged man raised his weapon and swiped at (Y/n). She quickly dodged and kicked the hedge clippers out of his hands. The android delivered another blow and knocked the man to the floor. She kicked the clippers away from him, grabbed his arm, and held it behind his back as he laid on his stomach. "Let me go, ya damn machine!"
"You are under arrest for the murder of Veronica Tanner." (Y/n) scanned the man and got his name, records, and age. "Jonathan Kingmen. Age: fifty-two. Has a criminal record for robbery and illegal drug use."
Connor and Hank ran down the hall and into the room after hearing the scuffle from the kitchen. Following them was Officer Taylor. She handcuffed the psychopath and dragged him to her cruiser. (Y/n) stared at the hedge clippers that now lay under the bed. Her gaze was ripped away from the weapon when Connor came over and wiped the thirium that was dribbling down her cheek. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, Connor. The cut will be mended in a few minutes."
Hank reclined against the doorway with crossed arms. He watched as the two androids interacted together, smiling like an idiot. "You sure you two weren't made to be, like, the first android couple ever? I can see it clear as day."
"No," they answered in sync.
Hank looked away, not believing them for a second. "Whatever you say..." He was aware of how the two would look at each other from time to time. Their gazes were full of love, but neither one of them were aware of the emotion. Only Hank was the one who could see their affection. Unbeknownst to him and the world around them, with every loving touch, their software instability rose and they were becoming more human every day. Soon, they would know what the foreign sensation was.
-Hank's House (Few Weeks Later)-
Connor and (Y/n) dragged the drunk man from the couch and into the bathroom with Sumo woofing happily at them. While the male android dumped the man in the shower, the female android went to Hank's room and grabbed a change of clothes. She could hear the Lieutenant yell as Connor turned on the shower to sober him up.
(Y/n) entered the bathroom and place the clothes on the sink basin. "Here is a fresh set of clothes when you're done with your shower, Lieutenant."
"Hardy har har. What a fucking hilarious joke, (Y/n)," Hank scoffs. "Didn't know androids could make jokes." She smiled and left the bathroom. The man then took note of how Connor was watching (Y/n) closely. He got out of the tub and grabbed a towel. "You gonna keep starin' or are you actually gonna tell her?"
"Tell her what?" Connor asked sincerely.
"Y'know, even though you're a highly advanced android, you're surprisingly dense. I've seen you give (Y/n) googly-eyes when she's not looking. Don't even try to deny that shit."
"I'm unaware of these 'googly-eyes' you mention, Lieutenant. What are they?"
Hank sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. "It's when someone stares in admiration at someone and it's fucking obvious."
"I... do feel this strange sensation in my chest when (Y/n) is around. It's rather... odd."
"It's called love and you're head-over-heels for her. 'Bout time you finally developed some emotion. You've been on the fritz ever since you two became deviants a few days ago."
"This feeling is known as love..." Connor murmured, glancing to where (Y/n) once stood. Hank pushed him out of the bathroom so he could change.
After the man was done, he grabbed his things and headed out with the androids. As he was getting into the car, (Y/n) suddenly shielded him with her body. Then, a gunshot rang out and the sound of screeching tires accompanied it. All Hank saw was (Y/n)'s body hitting the ground, a bullet hole in her forehead. Connor ran to her body and his eyes widened at the sight. Hank fell to his knees beside her and stared at the dead android. "Oh, god..."
Connor sat on his knees and took (Y/n)'s body in his arms. He quickly contacted CyberLife and they told him to bring her to headquarters. "Lieutenant, head to CyberLife." Hank nods and jumps into the driver's seat. Connor gathered (Y/n) in his arms and got in the backseat with her. He cradled her head in his lap, pushing a stray strand of (h/c) behind her ear. Her wide (e/c) eyes would haunt him forever, even when CyberLife would simply upload her memories into a new prototype. He wiped the thirium off her head and didn't tear his eyes off of her until they arrived at CyberLife.
Connor scooped (Y/n) in his arms and carried her into the grand tower while Hank waited in the car. In the lobby, multiple guards ran over to him and took (Y/n) away from him. He tried to follow, but one guard stopped him. "I'm sorry, but we have strict orders to bring model RZ800 to the higher-ups. No one, not even model RK800, is allowed any further with it."
Connor clenched his fists when the man referred to (Y/n) as 'it'. Hank had taught him about anger and how he could control it. Biting his tongue, he refused to give the guard a piece of his mind. Instead, he calmly turned on his heels and left.
Back in the car, Connor slouches forward with his head resting in his hands. Hank placed a hand on his back. "What's wrong?"
"I'm... angry," Connor confesses.
"And why're you angry?"
"A guard referred to (Y/n) as 'it'. I did as you taught me and refused to show my anger. I just... left."
"Well, you already did better than me. I would've punched the fucking guy. Did they tell you anything about what they would do to her?"
"Nothing. All they were ordered to do was take her body to the higher-ups. They'll most likely upload her memories into another RZ800 prototype and send her back to the station within a few days."
"That's good to hear. In the meantime, let's find the fuckers who tried to kill me in a drive-by shooting." Hank started the car and left Belle Isle. Connor couldn't pry his eyes away from the pristine tower as it grew smaller and smaller. His thoughts were only occupied with (Y/n) and a foreboding feeling rising in his chest.
-A Month Later-
After an entire month, (Y/n) hadn't returned from CyberLife. Connor tried contacting the tower to learn about the female android, but everyone refused to talk to him. Not even Amanda would tell him anything about (Y/n). Hank tried questioning Captain Fowler about the issues CyberLife was having with her, but even he didn't know anything on the matter.
Hank and Connor were able to figure out the motive behind the drive-by shooting and why the Lieutenant was the target in the meantime. It was because the teen who tried to kill him that day was the son of a man who Hank arrested only a few months before meeting Connor and (Y/n). Now, whenever he remembered the drive-by, all he could see was (Y/n)'s lifeless body. It was thanks to her that he was alive and he didn't even get to thank her for protecting him from a deadly blow.
"Let's get the fuck outta here and find out why CyberLife hasn't sent (Y/n) back. I'm tired of this damn waiting game," Hank growls. Ever since the female android left their group, they both had been a wreck, especially Connor. He wasn't his usual self and was more silent than ever.
It was around midnight and hardly anyone was at the station at this hour. Most were either on patrol or at home after a busy day in the office. Hank and Connor were about to enter the car but were stopped when they heard the click of a pistol. "Model RK800. Serial number: 313 248 317. You are to be terminated."
Connor and Hank froze at the familiar voice. The male android turned to face (Y/n) and saw she had a gun aimed directly at him. He knew by her words CyberLife had wiped her memories and given her a clean slate with different orders. Hank was still confused at why she was like this. "Connor, what the hell is goin' on?"
"CyberLife has wiped (Y/n)'s memories. It's like she never even had a previous body."
"Is there a way to get her back to her normal self?" Hank asked in a whisper.
"It's possible I could pass my memories to her hardware. In order to do that, I'd need to probe her current memories."
"You'll need to touch her in order for that to work. Maybe I could distract her," Hank said.
Connor shook his head. "Her system is too advanced. It would be impossible to distract her. Let me handle this, Lieutenant."
"Alright." Hank backed away and allowed Connor to handle the situation.
(Y/n) stood her ground, her (e/c) eyes trained on Connor. Her grip on the pistol was unwavering and he knew his chances of success were slim. Even with the low probability of his plan succeeding, he still wouldn't back down. "(Y/n), why have you been ordered to annihilate me?"
"CyberLife is aware of your rising software instability. They cannot allow such an advanced prototype to become deviant and I am here to make sure to erase you from this world."
Connor took small steps towards the female android, closing the distance between them. He raised his hands in the air, showing (Y/n) he was unarmed. "CyberLife erased your memories, (Y/n)."
"My memories are all intact. Now, I do not wish to prolong the inevitable. Goodbye, RK800." (Y/n) fires the gun, but Connor acted quickly. He dodged the line of fire and disarmed the female android. He grabbed both of her wrists and probed her memories.
Inside her head, he was able to pass the memories she and him had created over the months with Hank. He watched her face as her mechanical expression was shattered and replaced with the gentle one he missed seeing every day. Her (e/c) eyes were no longer dull as the light returned to them. "Connor."
He wrapped his arms around (Y/n) and embraced her tightly. She was still confused as to what was happening. "CyberLife wiped your memories," Connor said.
"I... remember everything. Is Hank alright?"
"Yes, he is. You protected him."
Speaking of the Lieutenant, he emerged from his cover and walked over to the female android. Connor pulled away from (Y/n) and allowed Hank to hug her. "Even though you're a pain in the ass with that technology of yours, you've become family just like Connor."
"Like a daughter?" She inquired.
Hank nods with a smile. "Like a daughter."
