~3rd Person POV~
"So... Connor, how're things with (Y/n)?" Hank asked as he saw the android was staring in the direction the young woman had disappeared.
"Well. I am still learning about being a 'couple' with help from (Y/n)."
"You're still new at love, son. You've only been dating for a few weeks."
Connor fell silent before directing his chocolate gaze towards Hank. "In our time together, I have scanned (Y/n) numerous of times."
"Jesus, Connor! You don't need to scan the girl so much!"
"It has been necessary. I have noticed how she doesn't smile as much as she used to. When I scanned her a few days ago, signs of depression were apparent. She has become quiet and reclusive lately. Also, she is suffering from insomnia."
Hank knew the signs of depression all too well. He looked at the picture of his son, Cole, and sighed. "Has she done anything to hurt herself?"
Connor shook his head. "Not yet."
The Lieutenant raised a brow. "Yet?"
"She has... attempted, but I have intervened before she could hurt herself. I'm worried about her, Lieutenant."
"Yeah. Me, too. Just keep your eyes on her, Connor. I know you're new to this crazy emotion shit, but don't let her out of your sight even if she begs you. The moment she's alone, that's when the demons will grab and drag her to Hell." Connor understood Hank's words as clear as day. He knew of the Lieutenant's depression and saw the same symptoms in (Y/n).
Suddenly, the door to Captain Fowler's office flew open and (Y/n) stormed out. Connor saw tears streaming down her cheek as she dashed for the front doors. The android quickly got to his feet and chased after her. "(Y/n)!" He shouts as she speeds out of the parking lot. Connor knew there was no way to catch up to the car on-foot and ran back into the station. "Lieutenant!"
Hank jumped from his chair and saw the worry in Connor's brown eyes. "What's goin' on?"
"We must find (Y/n)."
Hank was able to connect the pieces and quickly grabbed his car keys. "Get in the car." The android and his partner run to the car and pull out of the parking lot. As Hank was behind the wheel, he pulled out his phone and dialed Jeffrey's number. "What the hell did you say to (Y/n)?!" Connor was only able to pick up on a few words as Captain Fowler was more calm than Hank.
After five minutes, Hank hung up and tossed his phone in the backseat with gritted teeth. "God knows where she'll go after hearing that."
"What is it, Lieutenant?" Connor inquired.
Hank glanced at the android from the corner of his eye before directing his gaze back to the road in front of him. "(Y/n)'s dad had a heart attack at work. He died on the way to the hospital." Connor fell silent, his sorrowful gaze casted downwards. Hank felt the heavy atmosphere and tried to brush it away with a question. "Where do you think she would go?"
Connor fell into deep thought before answering. "She would either head home or to where her father worked."
"Her house is closer than the Stratford Tower. Let's check there."
Five minutes later, they pull into her driveway and saw her car sitting on the street. Connor hopped out of Hank's car and ran to the front door. It was unlocked and he entered (Y/n)'s house with hasty footsteps. He called out her name numerous of times as he searched every room. He checked in every possible spot that she could hide, but he found no sign of her.
"Find anything?" Hank asked as he emerged from the kitchen.
"No. Her car is here, but she isn't." Connor walked past the Lieutenant and saw the car keys on the table. "Was the garage empty?"
"Yeah," Hank responds.
Connor glanced at the key rack to see one set of keys were missing. "She came back here and exchanged her car for her father's old one. Why would she do such a thing when her car is in better shape?"
"Because her dad just died and it's possible it could be the last thing that reminds her of him. Where are you going with this, Connor?"
"She's heading to Stratford Tower. I'm not positive what she plans to do there, but I know it won't be good." The duo ran out of the house and back into the car. Hank drove as fast as he could down the highway to reach the Stratford Tower. He weaved in and out of traffic and completely ignored the speed limit.
After a ten minute drive, they reached Stratford Tower and headed straight for the receptionist desk. Hank was out of breath, which left Connor to question the android. "Where is (Y/n) (L/n)?"
"I'm sorry, Sir. You just missed her."
"Which floor?"
"The top floor. She wished to see her father's co-workers."
Hank was still down for the count from running up all those steps. "Go without me. Whatever she has planned, I seriously doubt it involves talking."
Connor nods and heads to the elevator. With how slow it was, the android was tempted to go run up the stairs even though he would need to reach the top of the tower. The lift reached the first floor and Connor was finally on his way to the top floor.
Once he stepped out of the elevator, the guards on duty stopped him. "I don't remember hearing about an android being sent up."
"I'm looking for (Y/n) (L/n)," Connor answers quickly, hoping these two guards would let him through and not hold him up any longer.
Sadly, they stood in his way and refused to let Connor through. "Sorry, but we can't let you through."
Connor knew he couldn't let this stop him. He pushed past the guards and dashed into the broadcasting room. His footsteps caught everyone's attention, even the androids who were hard at work. "Hey, you can't be up here!" One man shouts.
"I'm looking for (Y/n). Where is she?"
"Wait, you must be Connor. Her father talked about his daughter dating an android. Guess love does come in all shapes."
"Where is she?" Connor demands more sternly.
"She's up on the roof getting some fresh air. Poor girl was crying her eyes out when she arrived," a woman said as she glanced away from the equipment. She pointed to the door that was on her left and Connor thanked her. The android made his way up the stairs and opened the door to the roof. Back outside, he didn't spot (Y/n), but he did find her shoes and bag. "(Y/n)!"
Silence.
He searched the rooftop and was able to find her. She was standing on the ledge, her back facing him. Connor saw her eyes were staring at the ground far below them. Her (h/c) locks whipped in the wind as the sun was casted out by gray, brooding clouds.
Connor halted his advances and called out to her gently. "(Y/n)."
The young woman didn't even budge when she heard Connor. (Y/n) heard his worried voice, but she refused to face him. "I've always wondered how it would feel to jump from here. You can barely see the ground."
Connor took a few steps forward. "Please, (Y/n), step away from the ledge."
She ignored his pleading and stepped forward, her toes now dangling over the edge. "Do you think I would pass out before I hit the ground?"
Connor scanned the situation and saw he had very little room for error. Out of everyone (Y/n) knew, Connor was the one she opened up to the most. The android knew more about her than anyone else would ever get to. He crept forward, making sure (Y/n) couldn't hear his footsteps. "You don't have to do this."
"Yes, I do. My dad didn't deserve to die. I should've been the one to die before him. I lost my only family."
"No, you haven't, (Y/n). I'm still here."
(Y/n) raised her head and looked over her shoulder at Connor. "I don't deserve you, Connor. You deserve someone who isn't broken."
"You're not broken, (Y/n). I wouldn't ask for anyone else. You taught me to feel emotions. You taught me I'm alive and deserve a chance in this world. Now, it's my turn to tell you the same thing."
"Connor, I... I'm not..."
Thunder erupted from overhead as a powerful breeze blew around them. It was enough for (Y/n) to lose her balance and fall over the ledge. Her (e/c) eyes widened in fear as she felt her body begin to plummet. Connor reacted quickly and ran to the ledge. The android was able to grab her wrist before she fell out of his reach. The wind was relentless as Connor pulled (Y/n) back to safety. He held her close as they both fell back onto the roof.
Rain pelted down from the sky as Connor checked over (Y/n)'s body to make sure she was uninjured. Emotions running on overdrive, he couldn't help but hug her tightly after seeing she was alright. Neither one of them cared about their clothes being soaked from the rain as they basked in each other's warmth.
The couple decided to head back inside at the first sign of lightning. The android grabbed (Y/n)'s stuff before leaving the roof. Connor didn't let go of (Y/n)'s hand as they walked through the broadcasting room and to the elevator. The two heard arguing as they reached the two security guards that Connor had pummeled through only ten minutes ago. "Sir, you have no authorization."
"Authorization my ass! A fellow detective of mine could be—!"
"Lieutenant," Connor calls out to Hank. The older man snaps his head in the android's direction and saw he was accompanied by (Y/n). He sighed in relief and shoved the guard that was closest to him so he could talk to the young woman. "How're you feelin'?"
"Better thanks to Connor," she answered.
"I'm sorry 'bout your dad," he frowned.
"It'll be awhile before I can put his death behind me, but I know I'll be able to with you both here," (Y/n) smiles. She steps closer to Connor and leans her head against his shoulder. A smile bloomed on the android's face at her actions and words.
The guards interrupted their happy moment and asked the three of them to leave. The trio headed to the elevator and before the door could close, (Y/n) stuck her tongue out at the guards while Hank flipped them off.
Back in the lobby, Connor decided to drive (Y/n) home while Hank returned to the station and explained their sudden absence. The android snatched the keys from the young woman and headed to the car. He drove her safely home and helped her dry off with a towel.
"We should head back to the station. Captain Fowler will be furious if we don't return soon," (Y/n) said, tossing the wet towel in the hamper. Connor quickly grabbed her hand and forced her to sit on the bed. "Connor, what're you doing?"
"You are to remain here. I have sent the Captain a report of your health and he has given you the rest of the week off."
"That's way too generous of him. Are you sure?"
"I would never lie to you, (Y/n)."
"I know, hon. But, it just sounded too good to be true."
"Do you require anything before I leave?" He asked.
"Just one thing," (Y/n) grins. She stands up and kisses him on the lips. Connor was shocked for a few seconds before he kissed back. It was a chaste kiss because (Y/n) didn't want to keep Connor any longer. She didn't want him to get in trouble with Captain Fowler. "After you're done at the station, will you stop by again?"
Connor smiles and pecks her on the cheek. "I will."
