CyberLife Chapter Fourty-Three: The Final Hour
Tasha's POV
Watching Connor leave was like a knife stabbing into my heart over and over again. I knew he was doing the right thing.
Then why do I feel so miserable?
I let out a sigh as I walked out of the room, North giving me a small smirk when she noticed me.
"What were you two doing in there?"
I felt my face get hot as I looked away. "Nothing."
"That didn't sound like nothing." She had a knowing smile on her face as she interlocked her arm with mine.
Her smile is adorable, I'll give her that.
"Were you spying on me, creep?" I teased, shoving her side playfully.
"Ew, who do you think I am?" North laughed, letting me go. "I think everyone heard you two! You weren't being exactly quiet."
I blushed.
"North!"
Simon had called her over, causing me to be alone once more.
Great.
As I walked by one of the pues I noticed a girl with dark black hair, holding a little girl's hand.
The Android from the highway?
Could it be?
Ax-400?
What was her name?
I tried to recount the time I had tried to chase her... the little had screamed out to her. "Kara!"
I approached them slowly, unsure how they'd take to my presence.
"Kara?"
She looked at me with a startled expression, holding onto the girl tighter.
"It's okay!" I smiled at her, kneeling down in front of them. "I'm not going to hurt you."
"You chased us on the highway." She said as she looked down at me, an unreadable expression on my face.
"Yes, I did." I frowned, "I'm sorry for my part in all of this — I was just trying to protect the one that I love."
She smiled at that, the little girl also glancing at me. I reached into my pocket, handing her whatever money I had on me and a card with my number on it.
"I know it's not much, but maybe it'll help you get where you're going."
I stood, going to turn around but was stopped when a smaller hand grabbed mine. I glanced down at the little girl who wrapped her arms around my waist. "Thank you."
"What's your name?" Kara asked, smiling at the two of us.
"Tasha." I told her, letting go of the girl.
"I'm Alice."
"It's very nice to meet you, Alice."
"Thank you." Kara said, I nodded, turning towards Markus.
I can't let Connor do this on his own.
I can help.
I will help.
"I'm going after Connor."
I turned my back to him almost immediately after I finished speaking, but was stopped mid step as a hand wrapped around my arm.
"Markus... let me go." I warned, glancing over at him with a serious expression.
Markus didn't loosen his grip, "Do you want to get yourself killed? I told Connor I'd look after you."
"I can't just sit here while he's out there risking his life, Markus! What if it was North?!"
He loosened his grip on my arm, "That's different. You're human. You're more fragile than any of us here."
"I may be a fragile human, but that doesn't mean I'm a weak one."
"Markus, please. I have to do this. I need to be with him. Please, you need let me go."
"I told Connor I'd make sure you're safe." He repeated, his grip on me unwavering.
"You saw me back there! I can handle myself —"
"What I saw back there was you nearly getting yourself killed."
"Why should you care about my life? I'm just a human, remember?"
"You've shown me that not all humans are alike. You... you're different." Markus said, a small smile on his face. "You're the honorary Human and Androids relation leader, and I can't have my leader risking her life."
"Markus... Connor is everything to me. If I can help create a world where everyone— human and androids alike can co-exist in harmony, you have to let me help. You have to let me try."
Markus was silent for a moment, looking at me while he clearly analyzed the situation.
"Alright, but if you see anything too dangerous, you come back."
"You are literally Robo-Jesus, Markus." I couldn't help but laugh as I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him into a tight embrace. "Thank you, Markus. I'll see you later. I promise."

How the hell do I get to CyberLife tower? A cab ride will take too long...
My thoughts trailed off as I noticed an automatic motorcycle lying on the road.
That's convenient.
I sat on the bike, my pressing a blue bottom in front of me. I held onto the handle bars tightly as the bike began to speed onto the highway.
Let's go save the world.

I never felt as relieved in my life than when I saw Connor standing outside of CyberLife. It was like he was waiting for me. Like he knew I would follow him.
As I passed the security gate, I noticed there were no guards anywhere to be seen.
That's... odd.
The motorcycle stopped a few feet away from him, allowing me to hop off and start towards him. Connor was staring at me, but it was like he was somewhere else completely.
"Connor!" I let out a relieved breath as I ran up to him. "What the hell is going on?"
He looked down at me, grabbing onto my arm tight.
Too tight.
"Ow, Connor, that hurts!" I tried pulling my arm away but he just held tighter, causing me to squeal in pain. "Connor! What the fuck is wrong with you?!"
Then it hit me.
I looked up at him, his brown eyes held no emotion, his lips curved into a small smirk.
"You really are pathetic." He put his other hand to me neck, grabbing onto it tight, cutting off my air flow.
"C- Connor— stop—"
But this isn't Connor.
No, this is CyberLife.
He just smiled as he suffocated me until everything went dark.

Connor POV
"GET THE FUCK OFF ME!"
His heart fell as he watched Tasha walk out from behind the androids, a gun pushed against the back of her head. "I'm sorry, Connor. I should've known —"
Connor's double stepped out, "Humans are gullible."
"Just let her go. She has nothing to do with this." Connor noticed Tasha's neck was bruised and her right arm was also bruised.
"She has everything to do with this. She's the reason you became deviant."
His double tsk'd at him.
"Connor, it's okay! Just do it!" Tasha cried out, "It'll be okay. Just do it."
Connor's eyes met Tasha's, and for a moment he felt like he would fall into pieces at the sight of her. She was ready to die for him.
And he was ready to die for her.
No. I won't let that happen. I won't let her die.
"Fine!" Connor called out to his double. "Just let her go. I'll do whatever you want."
Connor's double smirked, pointing the gun towards Connor. "Well, isn't this—"
Tasha, don't.
Tasha kicked the Android in the stomach, his gun falling away as he lunged at Tasha. Connor lunged at his double before he got to Tasha.
They fought each other long enough for Tasha to grab the gun, pointing it towards them.
"Stop!"
Tasha's POV
Both Connor's turned to me, my hands shaking as I pointed my gun at them.
"Tasha, it's me." Connor said — the Connor to my right. "I can deal with him, just give me—"
"Stay the fuck back, asshole."
I noticed the Connor to my left smile slightly.
Is that him?
"You look fucking identical!" I cried, my eyes drifting between them both.
"Ask us something! Something only the real Connor would know."
I bit my lip as I pointed my gun between the two. "When's my birthday."
"I-"
"January, 2nd."
The Connor to my left seemed taken aback. "They uploaded my memory..."
My brows furrowed, "What's my favorite song currently?"
"It's My Life by Bon Jovi. You've listened to it 365 times within the past week."
The Connor to my left said immediately, the right Connor looking at me with confused eyes.
"I— I was going to say that too!"
Hmm.
So far it's looking like left Connor is my Connor.
"How long have we been together-"
"8 months, twenty two days, fourty minutes and fifteen seconds." The left Connor replied, taking a small step towards me, his eyes shining brighter than the other Connor's.
"Your parents would hold your hand and lay with you by your crib when you were a baby." Connor — my Connor — smiled more. "You cry when you see movie previews when you attend a movie. You bite your lip when you're concentrating." He continued to slowly, step by step, walk closer.
"I knew that too!"
"Your favorite colour is purple. You hate cars. You love to sing, even if you think you're terrible, which you aren't." Then he smirked the slightest bit.
"I made you scream 89 times the first night we had sex!"
Even through this serious situation, a small smile formed on my lips. "I think you told every person you walked by the day after we had sex." I shook my head.
"I— I did that too!" The other Connor said immediately, causing me to roll my eyes.
"Oh, honey, you're not fooling anyone."
"But—"
*bang*
With little remorse I pulled the trigger, letting out a relieved breath as Connor ran to me, wrapping his arms around my protectively.
"I told you to stay away!"
"If I had you would've been fucked!" I smiled at him, pressing my lips to his.
Connor held me tight as he kissed me, a smile on his face.
"Go free them."
As Connor began to wake up the androids, I knew if I stayed Connor would never let me help the others.
While Connor was distracted, I ran out of the room, trying to ignore the gnawing at my heart.
I have to do this.
