Chapter 131: The Incident

Gavin and Tasha went straight to her place, Tasha still jittering from the encounter with Connor. Gavin drank a bit too much, while Tasha stuck with water, though had she not been pregnant she would've been as wasted as he was.

"Gah! I hate him!"

Tasha threw a pillow at the wall, pacing her living room while Gavin stood in the doorway, watching her.

"No, you don't."

"THIS IS ALL HIS FAULT!" Tasha threw a vase against the wall, shattering it into hundreds of tiny pieces.

"Woah, Tash!" Gavin pushed her against the wall, holding her hands above her head as he stared at her. "You need to calm down."

"Calm?! How can I be calm?!"

Gavin's eyes bored into hers and for a moment he felt lost in them. "At the end of the day, Connor loves you, you know that."

"We're on a fucking break, how am I supposed to feel the love, Gavin?"

"Last time I checked YOU'RE the one who called the break, sweetheart." He sighed, rubbing her arms trying to calm her down. "Did you ever think that maybe your boy toy is afraid?"

Tasha scoffed, pulling away and sitting down on the couch. "Afraid?! Afraid of what? Commitment?"

"Maybe he's afraid to confront you because he doesn't want you turning off your emotions again. In his wired mind he's trying to protect you — he just doesn't get that he's hurting you in the process."

"I never thought I'd see the day where you, Gavin Reed, would stand up for Connor in our relationship." A sigh left Tasha's lips, but she smiled at him after a few long moments of silence. "Thanks, Gavin. I have no idea what I'd do if you weren't here."

As her eyes met Gavin's, he saw something in them. He felt his heart race as she leaned forward, closing her eyes as Gavin leant in the rest of the way, their lips meeting.

The kiss only lasted a moment, but Gavin forced himself to pull away.

"I- I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that."

"Oh, ok." Tasha shrugged, a small smirk on her face. "I thought it was nice."

Gavin then noticed how her breathing is elevated, how she is fiddling with the bottom of her shirt and how she was staring at the floor. Her cheeks were flushed, and her hand was very close to his own. He moved his hand slowly, brushing his fingers against hers. Tasha gazed over at their hands, a small smile on her face.

Gavin gazed at her a moment, trying not to glance down at her lips while she nibbled on her bottom lip. Tasha was about to open her mouth to speak again but Gavin stopped her, pressing his lips against hers hungrily as his hands moved to her waist.

This is wrong. Even though Connor and I aren't together, this isn't right. I don't feel this way about Gavin... do I?

I love Connor.

But Gavin... Gavin means something to me

Something more than a friend

Something... something I don't want him to mean to me...

Tasha's arms wound their way around Gavin's neck, her fingers tangling through his hair as his tongue ran along her lower lip, pushing past her lips as Tasha let out a gasp.

Tasha moaned into the kiss when his tongue met hers, her fingers trailing across his chest. In the back of her mind she knew that even though she wasn't with Connor, that these actions were wrong, but she pushed those thoughts aside as she focussed on Gavin's fingers tracing her bare skin on her sides.

They pulled back to breath, panting heavily as they leant their foreheads against one another.

"We can't do this." Gavin said after a moment, pulling away from her with a frown. "As much as — as much as I'd like to, this isn't you, Tasha."

Tasha's eyes dropped to the floor, the expression on her face unreadable.

"You told me I had a choice to be a better person. I didn't believe you, but you were right." Gavin smiled as he ruffled her hair affectionately. "Look... I love you and I will always love you... but I know I have to let you go.  You're in love with Connor, Tasha. He makes you happy — the way you two look at each other is sickly beautiful."

His words hit Tasha in the chest like a mallet, tears brimming her eyes as her hands shook slightly. "I— I'm sorry, I didn't — I didn't want to hurt you, Gavin."

"I'm sorry, Gavin." Tasha sniffled as a few tears fell down her face, she wiped them off immediately, letting out a sad laugh. "You — you should probably go."

Gavin nodded in reply, pulling his jacket on.

"Hey Tash?"

Tasha turned her head to look at him, her eyes waiting expectantly.

"I'm still here for you whenever you need me." He leaned down, kissing her forehead before walking towards the door.

"Same goes to you, loser." Tasha managed to smirk, letting out a sad chuckle as Gavin closed the door.

Tasha let her head hang off the end of the couch. I wonder how long it would take for all the blood to rush to my head and kill me. Maybe that'll make the guilt hurt less. Why am I feeling so terrible? We're broken up, so it's not cheating, but even so it feels like it was. Her skin crawled in disgust at herself as she closed her eyes.

Please don't hate me.
