Chapter 124: Secrets Can't Be Kept
"A chance to bring both androids and humans together." Kamski spoke with no emotion as Tasha stood from the chair, confusion written all over her face.
"How is that possible? Connor can't have kids. He's... he's an Android!"
"DNA, amazing isn't it? So many layers and codes to an individual." Kamski pauses for a moment. "A strand of DNA is what creates us all, yet it is through one gene and one later that changes it all. An X and a Y, two letters set to pair off who we are. We are such interesting beings, aren't we? But how does it differentiate between Androids and Humans? All it takes is one slight variant, and something incredibly interesting happens."
"Interesting?!" Tasha was slightly offended by his choice of words. "But... but I thought that the semen was artificial. There for pleasure not... this!"
Kamski chuckled lightly, "That is the truth, however it seems that Connor, being the most advanced CyberLife has ever created, is the first whose DNA has written itself different. Now, I don't know everything, this is just a theory.... Connor was the very first model implemented with human DNA. It's a tiny trace of it, minuscule in fact, but it appears it has become more apart of him as time has passed."
Tasha shook her head as she gazed at her stomach. Kamski wheeled his chair away as he stood. "Tasha, this doesn't have to be a bad thing. It's all about your perspective."
"Perspective?" Tasha sighed, "I'm happy! I am... I just..."
"You worry what your dear Connor would say." Kamski's eyes watched her closely, "You two are in love. Why wouldn't he be happy?"
Tasha's eyes widened slightly as she reached for his arm. "Kamski— Elijah, please. Don't tell anyone."
Kamski looked at the girl a moment, his expression even. "Now why would you want to keep such a thing from the Android you love so deeply?"
"I'm not going to keep it from him, but I need time to process. Please, Elijah."
Kamski smiled, the same smile he had on his face when Connor didn't shoot his android. "Alright."
As soon as Tasha got into her car, she broke down crying. She didn't know if it was from fear or joy. Maybe both. I'm pregnant?! How can I— I don't understand!
Tasha's phone rang loudly, and when Tasha reached for it she broke down a little more as she saw it was Connor.
Oh fuck, what do I do?! What do I do?!
Tasha collected herself the best she could before answering. "Hey Connor. Is everything alright?"
"Yes, everything is fine. You've been gone an awfully long time so I wanted to make sure you were safe."
"Oh — yes! I'm okay! Just — picking up the last of the things we need."
"Tasha, don't —"
"Connor, the reception is really bad here! I'll be home soon!"
She hung up the phone, sighing deeply as she arrived at the store.

When Tasha arrived home from the store, she immediately brought in as many bags as she could. While usually she'd let Connor do it, she felt it only right she do it now, because there was a possibility she wouldn't do any heavy lifting in the future.
Connor opened the door for her, grabbing the bags from her hands. "You should've let me, Tasha."
She smiled slightly, unable to meet his gaze. "I'm sorry, I just thought it was easier this way."
As Connor took the grocery bags into the kitchen Tasha took her coat off. She was trying to keep her heart rate down to reduce the likelihood that Connor would question her about why she was stressed.
Tasha went to grab a glass of orange juice from the fridge, but Connor wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her backside against him.
"I missed you." Connor said against her ear, kissing her cheek affectionately.
Tasha smiled slightly, trying to relax in his arms. "I missed you too, Con."
"Are you sure everything is alright? You seem tense." Connor brought his hands to her shoulder, massaging them causing her to groan. "Very tense."
"When am I not stressed?" She laughed, "I guess it was just stressful at the store. There were so many kids today."
"Luckily neither of us have to deal with children here."
Tasha felt her stomach churn at his words. She was silent for a moment as she tried not to feel hurt by his comment. "Y-yeah, lucky."

The next day at lunch, Hank and I were taking a break together and somehow I got the idea to ask Hank.
"Do you... do you think Connor would be good with kids?"
Hank spit out his coffee, a look of shock and terror on his face. "Excuse me?!"
"You're acting like I'm asking if he's Jesus or something." I shook my head, "Do you think that hypothetically if I had a kid Connor would be a good dad?"
"Connor. The same Connor who licks blood samples at crime scenes. That Connor."
"No, the one from the Eden Club — OF COURSE THAT CONNOR!"
Hank gave me a sideways glance, "Wait — you... you're not — "
"Waaaaaa?!" I let out a loud noise, shaking my head profusely. "God Hank! No! I'm just asking hypothetically! Pssssh, we can't even have kids so like please can you just answer the question?"
I'm a terrible fucking liar.
Hank continued to eye me with suspicion, but eventually turned back to his coffee. "Connor is... slowly becoming more human. Hypothetically? Yes, I think he could be a good father. I don't see why not."
"Thank god." I let out a sigh of relief, feeling my cheeks get hot as I realized Hank had heard me.
"I'll never get used to that." Hank pinched my cheek that was clearly a purple shade, causing me to grimace.
"Gah, let me go, old man." I wrinkled my nose as I rubbed my cheek that now stung from the pinch.
When we got back to the station, I noticed Connor standing by my desk, seemingly waiting for me.
"Con, what's up?"
He had a perplexed expression on his face, but smiled when he saw me. "You were gone 2.6 minutes longer than usual."
"That's not stalkerish at all." Hank snickered as he sat at his desk.
"I was merely wanting to make sure you were alright." Connor said, trying to ignore Hank's comment.
"Oh, Well—" As I was about to come up with a witty reply I felt a sharp pain go through my stomach. "Um, hold that thought."
I pushed past Connor and ran into the ladies rest room, falling to the toilet and throwing up all the food I had just eaten.
Morning Sickness?!
Already?!
Great!
I let out a shriek as I felt hands touch my shoulder, one hand holding my hair away from my face.
"Connor! This is the girls restroom!"
Connor ignored my comment, his one hand rubbing my shoulder soothingly. "Are you alright? Your heart rate is elevated and—"
"Darling, I just threw up — I probably ate some bad food." I replied before leaning over the toilet again.
"I see no history of expired food." Connor said with concern laced in his voice. "You also aren't catching the flu. Maybe I should take you to—"
"No! I mean — I'll be fine." I mumbled.
Connor let out a sigh as he grabbed a wash cloth, gently wiping my face before helping me into my feet.
"It is my recommendation you take the rest of today off."
"What? No way, Connor! I'm not —"
"It's already done." Connor said as his LED whirred a few times until it turned to a solid yellow. "You and I will head home, and I will make you something to help you feel better."
How can I be mad at that? He's fucking adorable.
I let out a sigh of defeat, nodding as he escorted me to the car.
Once home, I knew there was no way I could keep this a secret from him much longer. Every moment he could, Connor was analyzing me trying to find the culprit that was making me sick. It would only be a matter of time before he connected the dots.
Connor and I sat on the couch, his arm wrapped around my waist, holding my body close to his.
"Connor..." I started, chewing on my bottom lip as I stared at the ground.
"Yes?" He asked innocently.
"What are your thoughts on children?"
Connor was silent for a moment, "Children...?"
"What are your thoughts on children of your own... our children..."
"I haven't... thought about it."
That's a lie.
Why would he lie about that?
"You know, being half android has taught me to know when people lie — and you're lying, Con." I turned away from him, a little hurt that he'd try to lie to me as I walked towards the bed room.
"Tasha —" Connor quickly followed after me. "You just — you caught me off guard... After everything that's happened to you this past year, I didn't think you'd want to talk about having children..."
"It's fine, ok? Just forget it." I mumbled as I pulled my shirt off, taking a deep breath as I looked at myself in the mirror. I let my hands rest on my stomach, and as I turned to the side I noticed that ever so slightly I could see a slight bump forming on my usually thin stomach.
Well, that's interesting.
"You've never spoken about children." Connor said as he walked over to me, his head cocked to the side like an adorable puppy.
"Because I never thought we could have children of our own." My voice was quiet as I continued to stare at my stomach in the mirror.
This is too good to be true.
"We were able to bring you back to life." Connor slowly wrapped his arm around my waist, turning me to face him. "I would be honoured to be the father of your children, Tasha."
My lip quivered as I gazed up into his brown eyes, "Really? You're not just saying that?"
Connor smiled, leaning down to kiss me. "I love you more than anything. I want nothing more than to be with you — to have a family with you..." Connor pulled me closer as he kissed me harder, his one hand on the back of my neck deepening the kiss.
I let out a soft moan, pushing him away slightly to breath. I couldn't help but grin up at him. "I love you."
Connor nuzzled his nose against mine as I caught my breath, his fingers trailing up and down my bare sides. "If you'd like, we could begin to try for a child right now."
I let out a giggle, "Someone's eager."
Connor's cheeks turned blue as he looked away from me. I leaned my head against his chest as I took the photo out of my pocket, "We might not have to try for a child..." My voice trailed off as I pulled away from him, setting the small photo in his hand.
"I don't understand." Connor stared at the photo with his eyes narrowed — clearly analyzing the image. My name was on the top corner. "What is this?"
"That..." I pointed to the small dot on the photo. "Is our baby."
