Chapter 114: Please Stop You're Scaring Me
Tasha tapped her fingers against the car door impatiently as Gavin drove towards the precinct. The job they had been on lasted a few hours longer than initially expected, so both were late getting back to the station. The black outs were occurring more frequently, and Tasha had begun noticing strange things popping up into her head.
"Tasha?"
There was silence as her eyes stared forward, not looking at anything in particular as she drummed her fingers against the door.
"Tasha!"
Tasha blinked a few times. Her face flushed as she took a deep breath.
Fuck, it happened again!
"Sorry, Gav. What were you saying?"
Gavin glanced over at her as he continued to drive. "I was asking if you wanted to stop and get something to eat."
Tasha nodded, "Yeah, why not."
Tasha checked her phone, frowning when she realized Connor hadn't tried to text her all day. Not even a single hello. Gavin noticed the look on her face and frowned. The last few weeks Tasha's mental health had been decreasing. She tried to hide it but he could tell just from how she held herself, and the more obvious zoning out that she wasn't doing well.
"Hey, I'm sure that Connor and Hank just had a busy day like us and didn't have time to say anything."
Tasha smiled a little at Gavin's attempt to be caring, "Yeah, you're probably right."
However, when they arrived at the precinct Tasha felt her heart sink as she saw some lady in a mini skirt leaning against Connor's desk, her hand touching his shoulder. Tasha's blood boiled in her body as she stalked over to them. Gavin had been behind her a few paces but when he saw the rage on her face he tried to grab her, but was too late.
"What the fuck is this?"
Connor blinked a few times, looking up at Tasha. "Oh, Tasha, I—"
Tasha slapped him hard across the face. "Fuck you."
She turned to the blonde slut who was sat there with a smirk on her face. "Haven't you heard, androids are better?"
Oh, so she is an Android slut.
Connor was stunned as he tried to figure out what was going on and why Tasha was so upset. The girl had just been asking him questions and he had been answering.
Tasha wasted no time to grab on the androids hair, throwing her hard against the wall. "Try me, bitch." Tasha growled, glaring at it.
It laughed, "You're pathetic. You really are."
Tasha could heard voice yelling behind her, but it faded when she ran at the droid, grabbing it by the throat and slamming it against the wall again. As she began to choke the life out of it, her artificial skin disappeared to show the bits of her that were Android.
"I am more powerful than any android or human. I am both!" The lights in the station began to flicker, causing everyone to glance around in even more a panic.
Tasha growled as the lights sparked, sending a power outage throughout the entire precinct. In an instant she tossed the girl aside, disappearing from sight before anyone could catch her.
Tasha's breath heaved as electricity could be felt flowing through her artificial arm. She clenched her hand to hide the sparks, her mind no longer her own. There was a constant pull against her. It was controlling her, but she was aware and able to speak.
"Tasha!"
Gavin ran up to her, "Are you ok?!"
"Gavin! It had its hands all over him! And he allowed it!"
"Tasha, Connor loves you, I'm sure —"
"Loves me?! No one fucking loves me." Tasha's body shook as the rain started to pour.
"Hey," Gavin grabbed onto her face, looking at her with serious eyes. "Hey, look at me."
Tasha sobbed, looking up at Gavin as the rain fell on them. "What's happening to me, Gavin?"
"I don't know, sweetheart, but it's going to be okay." Gavin kissed her forehead, hoping to calm her further.
Tasha immediately pulled away from his grasp when she noticed Connor coming towards them. "I— I can't —"
In that moment, her eyes turned black, causing both men to stare at her with wide eyes.
"What the hell?"
Tasha laughed as she wiped the tears away. "How pathetic. She really needs to stop fawning over you two."
"Tasha, I don't —"
"Tasha? Oh, no, dear. Tasha's away at the moment." She smirked as she looked at Connor. "Think of me as Tasha without her humanity, only better."
"Tasha, this isn't funny—"
"Wow, ten points to Detective Reed, everyone!" Tasha sneered with a laugh. "You know, I can feel her trying to claw her way back. It's a pity though. Soon I'll be the only one left."
"What are you?" Connor asked then.
"What am I? Hmm..." Tasha kept her hand over her gun as she began to skip around in the rain. "I am merely a pawn in a game that's far too big for the both of you to handle."
"What did you do to Tasha?"
"I think you're misunderstanding me, boys." Tasha sighed, "I am Tasha. Tasha is me. I'm just — the bad. The evil. The machine." Tasha lifted her hand, unclenching it to reveal the electricity sparking her fingers.
"Tasha is not a machine." Connor said with fists clenched.
"Is she not?" Tasha held her hand up, showing off the metal arm. "Tasha is machine and human. I am the machine. I will be the victor, while Tasha will cease to be anything but a whisper in the back of my head." The lights of the buildings around them flickered.
"We won't let you—"
"Oh, Gavin." Tasha giggled. "The best friend in love with the girl he can never have. Poor Tasha, how would she feel if she knew just how much you loved her?" Tasha had a smug smile on her face as her black eyes focussed on him.
"Let me guess, do you dream about her each night? Do you wake up yearning to have her by your side—"
"Stop." Gavin said then, causing Tasha to smirk.
"Have you ever wondered why Connor lets you flirt with his girlfriend? You both love her so much, and have chosen a girl who can only have one, even if she loves you both."
"That's enough."
Hank stepped out of the building, looking at Tasha. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"Ah, the father figure." Tasha hummed in appreciation. "I have nothing against you, believe it or not. So stay out of my way and your life is yours to keep."
"What of us?" Connor stepped towards her. "Will you kill me, Tasha?"
"I will take great pleasure in killing both of you." Tasha's smiled faded as the black faded from her eyes slightly. "But not right now."
In an instance, lighting hit the ground between them, sending Gavin and Connor back against the building. By the time they regained their composure Tasha was nowhere to be found.
