Prophecy Answers
The Loch Ness swam peacefully in the Loch Ness Lake which many creatures have named him after. It was a relief to relax for ages. Nothing changed. Nothing new happened.
Until the tremors.
Oh, he knew what they meant. Bigbrute didn't even know if he was even the only one who did. No one else has mentioned about it to him. Or they didn't know that someone else knew.
"Hello Scylla, Snowflutter," he greeted his Ancients friends as they arrived.
Snowflutter bowed his head in greeting. Scylla did the same and said, "Hello Bigbrute."
"Thank you for not calling me Nessie." Bigbrute laughed dryly.
Scylla scoffed a laugh. "Whoever came up with that for you wasn't thinking."
Bigbrute chuckled. Then they became solemn. "We need to talk about the tremors."
"Yes," Scylla hissed. "We do."
"Do you know what they mean?" Snowflutter asked Bigbrute.
Bigbrute nodded. "Do you know anyone else that knows what they mean?"
Snowflutter shook his head. "No one has come to us about it. The Sirens are basking on there rock as usual. The Upirs and Vampires are still in their kingdom, not doing a thing. Do you think we should get the other Ancients?"
Bigbrute considered it. "There might be other Ancients who also feel the tremors, but there also might not be."
Scylla growled with all six of her heads. "We need answers now!!" Birds flew out of the trees. Rabbits went into hiding holes.
Snowflutter and Bigbrute didn't flinch at her outburst. Bigbrute leaned closer to Scylla, since he can only swim in the lake. "You'll get answers. I know what the tremors mean. And you'll won't like it."
Snowflutter became still. "What do they mean?"
Bigbrute leaned back, looking up at the stars. "Do you remember the Destruction Prophecy?"
Scylla jaws dropped opened. Snowflutter's black eyes widened. Scylla whispered, "So we have to fulfill the Destruction Prophecy?" Their fears were confirmed. "But that's unpredictable! We are talking about chaos and destruction, just exactly what it's named!" Scylla got louder and louder with every word. It echoed around the lake. "We don't know what creatures we need, for an Upir's sake!" Scylla was pretty much roaring now. Even bears and wolves were going back to there caves to hide.
"Scylla," Bigbrute said calmly and patiently. "We have to. And you'll know when you run into them."
"And weren't you the one who said we had to fulfill it last night?" Snowflutter asked.
Scylla snapped at them. Bigbrute moved back calmly. The water stirred only the slightest bit as he moved. "And we'll know?" she yelled. "We'll know what?! Aren't you coming, Bigbrute?"
Bigbrute eyes saddened. "Unlike you, Scylla, I can't move around so easily."
"I know tha-"
"And," Bigbrute cut her off. "I can't come. This is your fate, not mine."
Scylla was growling.
Snowflutter snorted. "Without you? How much did the tremors tell you? How do you know this?"
Bigbrute bowed his head. Right in front of them, out of nowhere, a Dragon orb appeared.
Scylla gasped. "A Dragon orb?" Shock forced her into a whisper. "Where did you get it?"
The orb glowed sapphire, azure, and turquoise. The heart of it was a shining white.
"A Water Dragon orb," Snowflutter said in awe. "Where did you get that?"
Bigbrute's voice was solemn. "A dying Water Dragon came to me. His very life was draining fast. In his claws was his orb. He told me that it told him to come to me. Something attacked him, something dark."
Scylla's eyes were brimming with tears. "What happened to him?" she asked. Nothing could have made her want the Destruction Prophecy more than this.
"His name was Lakeseer," Bigbrute said.
Snowflutter took in a sharp intake of breath. No one had seer in their name.... unless they were a prophet.
"Lakeseer?" Scylla said, eyes as wide as the lake.
"Yes. Lakeseer was blabbering about all sorts of creatures. Dragons, Upirs, Centaurs, Griffins, Nymphs," Scylla growled at the mention of Nymphs. "Phoenixs, and Humans."
Snowflutter whinnied in anger. "Humans?" he yelled.
Scylla hissed and crouched low to the ground.
"Yes. Humans." Bigbrute had a little bit of anger in his voice. "Those wretched vile beings, unfortunately yes."
"I thought they were all gone for good," Scylla hissed. She stomped her foot in anger, causing the ground to tremble a little.
"So did I, until Lakeseer told about them." Bigbrute's cold, but kind, eyes glittered ominously.
"And we need one to save our world. Fantastic." Scylla subsided to hear the rest.
"Lakeseer gave it to me saying, 'May the prophecy be fulfilled. The orb will tell you what you need.' Those were his last words."
"Just like the last prophet," Snowflutter said. "His last dying words was the prophecy."
Silence stretched between them.
The tremors set off again. Bigbrute looked at the others in urgency. "You must hurry. Time will not always be on our side."
Snowflutter and Scylla nodded, then set off.
For fate has laid out two paths.
And only one will save them all.
