Chapter 18
Chapter 18 ━━ Daredevil, Bro
━━━━━━━━☆★☆━━━━━━━━
It's not hard to find the Tracksuit Mafia if you're giving yourself up to them. It was Clint's idea by the way. And here the Barton brothers, standing in an alleyway, waiting for Tracksuit Mafia to kidnap them.
"They're late." Heather yawns, stretching his limbs. "Remind me to grab a black coffee when we're done."
Clint grimaces. "I hate black coffee."
"That right there was the biggest mistake you've ever made." Heather retorts, burying his hands deep in his hoodie.
Suddenly, three vans screech and stop in front of the two brothers. The headlights shining at them.
"Hello, boys. You found us." Clint says with a smug face as a few men from the Tracksuit Mafia get out.
"Somebody help!" Heather sarcastically yells. "We're getting kidnapped."
One of them says to the younger Barton brother. "Who are you?"
"Daredevil."
"That name is taken." Clint points out.
"You can't be serious, man. I worked hard to come up with that name." Heather dramatically throws a tantrum.
"Hey, easy, bro." Another member of the gang says. "Hands in the air. Now!"
Heather simply shrugs and holds his hands in surrender, just as Clint does. For a second, the gang members exchange a look with surprise at their surrender. However, they quickly cover their heads and shove the two brothers into a van.
"Guys, I can see through the bag." Heather comments, but they ignore him and speed away.
Heather is taken to Tracksuit's hideout, an old, abandoned toy store and currently is tied up to the chair next to Clint's, where they're interrogated by some of the more boisterous Tracksuit members, Ivan, Thomas, and Enrique, who are trying to track down Ronin themselves.
"It's a nice place you got here. Not creepy at all." Heather remarks, taking a look at his surroundings as soon as the bag is removed from his head.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey. You kid." Thomas glares at the former Destroyer. "I know you kid. So, don't kid, okay? Because it was getting very hard to find place. Now, all the warehouses are being converted into lofts, so how can I get something better?"
"Come on, bro." Enrique pats on his back.
"But he's criticizing." Thomas complains.
"Uh, look, guys, we're not who you think we are. Okay?" Clint speaks.
"So, you are not Hawkeye and he's Daredevil?"
"Well, I... I guess I am who you think I am. Uh, I'm not the guy you're looking for." Clint explains, calmly and gestures at Heather. "And he's not Daredevil. He's just my brother."
"Kate Bishop."
"Not Kate Bishop."
"Kate Bishop is guy, bro."
"Kate Bishop is not guy."
"Kate Bishop is guy in costume."
Clint sighs. "Wow. Hmm. Can I speak to your manager? This is like talking to furniture. I came here to talk to your boss. Is that possible? I'm trying to be civil here."
"Civil? We kidnapped you, rozumiesz?" Thomas pushes. "You are our hostage now, rozumiesz to?"
"It's about the language. Let me speak." Heather says and Clint nods to him to go ahead.
Heather clears his throat. "Я хотел бы поговорить с вашим боссом. Вот почему мы пришли." (I would like to speak to your boss. It's why we came)
"Привет. Посмотри на меня, хорошо? Потому что я допрашиваю тебя прямо сейчас. Мы сейчас вас допрашиваем, так что смотрите на нас." (Hey. Look at me, okay? Because I'm interrogating you right now. We are now interrogating you, so look at us) Thomas says, pointing at himself and the other Tracksuit members in the room.
"I think you're right, Clinty. It's like talking to furniture." Heather confirms.
"Where is Kate Bishop?" Thomas questions the former Avenger.
"I've never met her. I have no idea." Clint replies.
"Come on! Where is Kate Bishop?"
"Who are you talking about?"
Thomas opens his mouth to reply when the ceiling creaks and Kate crashes into the scene after falling from the ceiling. She grunts and groans, trying to recover from the fall.
"Bro, I found her." Thomas remarks smugly. "Uh-oh. You're in trouble now, bro."
"There you go." Heather mutters sarcastically and Clint sighs.
Soon enough, Heather finds himself in a tricky situation along with Clint and Kate. They've now been officially captured by the Tracksuit Mafia, with little chance of escaping unscathed. Each of them is now tied to pony mall rides, where Tracksuit members are making fun of them.
"Touch me again and I will tear your arm straight off!" Heather snaps at a Tracksuit member, Ivan with his death glare, which Ivan immediately steps back.
"That was hot." Kate mumbles to herself and Hawkeye rolls his eyes.
"He's being funny, bro." Thomas assures his mate with a nervous chuckle.
Heather glowers at him. "As much as I love to be the fun-loving social butterfly, I wasn't trying to be funny. I would have put a 'ha ha' at the end of it. And there was no 'haha."
"Seems like you're mad at me." Kate asks Clint, who has a permanent grimace on his face. "I know it doesn't look like that, but you two will be lost without me, you realise that?"
Heather snorts. "Your intern was trying to be helpful, Clinty. You hear that?"
"I was about to clear your name from the suit until you decided to crash through the skylight." Clint retorts.
Kate tries to befriend some of the Tracksuits, she's quickly silenced by the arrival of the superior of Tracksuit Mafia, Maya.
"All right, knock us dead." Heather mumbles under his breath and looks over at Clint. "Who is she?"
Maya signs to Clint, who barely has any knowledge on sign language.
"Sorry. Hard of hearing, not deaf." Clint states and Maya rolls her eyes.
"She asked what you're doing here, Clint Barton." Kazi translates.
"Riding a unicorn." Clint clears his throat. "Look, Kate's not Ronin. She put it on accident." Clint tries to explain that Ronin is dead, killed by Black Widow, but Maya doesn't buy it. She's quickly at Kate's throat looking for answers, and frustrated when she doesn't get anything concrete.
"Oh, God. I put that suit on because I didn't want anybody to know that I was at the auction, okay?" Kate chokes for breath as Kazi tries to stop Maya, which fails. "I didn't know what it was when I put it on, I swear. I swear."
Finally, Kazi pulls Maya away from Kate as she begins to cough, filling in the needed oxygen.
"Listen to me. Now's not the time to be scared. We're gonna get out of this." Clint assures the terrified girl and glances at his brother. "Barney, wait for my signal."
"Got it, boss." Heather says and turns to the girl. "You okay, Katy Perry?"
"Not really. 'Cause I freaked out like a total girl." Kate whispers, still shocked.
"You're a girl."
"I freaked out like a girly girl and I'm not a girly-girl."
Heather slightly laughs. "What kind of a girl are you?"
"Tougher than that." Kate sighs, looking down at the floor. "At least, I thought I was."
"I'd be freaked out too. In fact, I'd probably cry. And not like man, either. Like the biggest girly girl ever. It'd be pathetic." Heather encourages her with a smile.
Kate smiles back. "You're right."
"You're gonna harness that overconfidence of yours, okay? This ridiculous over-confidence, you remember that one?" Heather queries and Kate nods.
In the same moment, Clint manages to free his restraints and starts a mad chase through the abandoned toy store, taking out the Tracksuit Mafia one by one.
"How did you do that? Clint!" Kate yells and Heather hears Clint shouting through the chaos.
"Barney, now!"
"Thank god. I thought you'd never ask." Heather mumbles and uses his super-soldier strength to rip the tape that kept him tied to the pony mall ride. He gazes at Kazi, who pulls out his gun, ready to shoot. "This ends now. Shall we?"
Heather gets a short run before jumping in the air and taking down Kazi with a scissor leg takedown around his neck. "Are you single?"
"Yeah?"
"That's good news." Heather throws a handful punch on his face, knocking Kazi out in cold.
"Go, gays." Kate sings sarcastically and nods towards her tied hands. "I will greatly appreciate it if you tell me how to get rid of this thing, Barn-meister."
Without giving an actual answer, Heather grabs Kazi's gun and shoots the restraints, releasing Kate before jogging back to the battlefield, throwing punches then and there at the men of Tracksuit Mafia.
Kate joins him soon as more men circle them. Not holding back, they both battle out. That's when Heather grabs Kate by the waist and whirl around as she kicks them all down.
"That was stu-u-u-pendous!" Kate exclaims as he sets her back on her feet and Heather smirks with amusement.
In the meantime, Clint leaps out of the ball pit, stabbing the men surrounding him before three of them sprint out of the building and find themselves hotwiring a getaway car outside.
"Hey, get over here, I need you to drive." Clint orders the girl.
"What? I don't know how to drive." Kate responses.
"I'll drive." Says, Heather.
"You don't get to drive." Clint states.
"Oh, come on. I'm a great driver." Heather insists.
"My hearing aid's smashed. I'm not hearing you. Kate drives, okay?"
"Fine, you old oaf." Heather huffs in annoyance. But then he notices a Harley-Davidson LiveWire parked a few feet away from him and the key on its mouth brings a mischievous grin on his face. "Oh, man. That's some hot one out there."
He swiftly moves and gets on, not forgetting to put on the helmet. He turns on the engine to life, making it roar.
"Barney, get your ass in the car!" Clint yells from the car when Tracksuit Mafia rushes out of the building, shooting at them.
"Yeah. Save me dinner, big bro!" Heather yells back with a thumbs up, before speeding away as Clint has no option other than driving Kate and him away as well.
