He's proposing you my inner voice screamed. My heart yelled," Say yes" but my mind told the opposite. I thought he never had feelings for me.

The second he completed his words, few traitor tears left my eyes.

I didn't want him to see it, I abruptly turned my head towards the sea. I could feel his gaze still on me, I didn't dare to turn to his side. I can't face his mesmerising black orbs which is expecting an answer.

After few minutes which felt like hours, my made my heart a rock and turned my gaze to his side.

His eyes, it had a lot of emotions, spoke a million words that he didn't. My heart screamed," you still have time. Say yes and start your life new" but my mind said," that can happen only at the cost of many people's happiness, do you really want him to suffer ?" I said a big no to my mind.

I lowered my gaze and started," I never had any feelings for you... Sid. I thought that you're a good friend but... You marry a girl whose equivalent to your family status *hiccup* please leave me Sid".

My heart broke into million pieces, but still those pieces said "I love Siddharth". I wasn't able to speak anymore, I was at the verge of breaking.

Yes, all my words were lies but I can lie even more if it'll give my Quokka happiness.

I didn't have the guts to look into his eyes anymore. If I do, I'll confess my feelings.

I immediately stood up and said," thanks for everything sid, sorry and all the best for your future Sid"

I started walking in the opposite direction, I could hear him shouting," Mirunalni, please stop". How badly do I wanna turn back and say that I love him to the core.

After coming to a distance where he couldn't hear me anymore. I broke down. I couldn't control my tears anymore.

I sat in a bus stop and let my tears flow. "You missed him" said my heart.

I could feel people giving me wierd looks but I'm not in the state to care.

I soon reached my hostel, I went under the cold shower and cried.

He will move on in a few days. I want him to be happy throughout his life. I... I can live the rest of my life with his memories.

I opened my cupboard and the tuxedo he gave on that harrasment incident was inside.

I hugged it and lied on my bed. My tears started to roll again.

Siddharth's pov

Omg I feel immense pain on my heart. Her words are piercing my heart. Does she really don't have any feelings for me? Am the one who cheated in this friendship?

Why is she crying when she doesn't have any feelings for me? Is she hiding something?

I was trying to comprehend her words while she started walking away. I pleaded her to stop but she didn't pay any heed to me.

Few drops of tears left my eyes. I went to my car and drove to my mansion. My heart is paining so much.

There was her dupatta she left at my house six months back. I hugged it and lied on my bed. Tears resist to stop. I'm usually a strong man but this is breaking me.

I woke up to sun rays falling directly on my face. As soon as I woke up, everything that happened yesterday rushed to my mind, her tears, her words.

Wait! She won't come to the office anymore right. Then won't I be able to see her everyday?

Oh god I messed up everything. I shouldn't have confessed to her.

Thinking all this, I got ready for the office.

I was working but her thoughts flooded my mind. I forced myself to concentrate on work.

The time was around 10 in the morning while my PA knocked. I asked him to come in. He knew that we both are friends so he said," Sir Mirunalni ma'am is here to give her resignation letter". I knew this would happen.

My poor heart wanted to see her and apologize for one last time. Within seconds, I started running like a mad man towards the exit of my office.

The road was really crowded, I spotted her in between the group of few people who were waiting to cross the road.

I called her name," Mirunalni, please stop". She turned and looked back with teary eyes.

I crossed the first road and went near her. The minute she saw me behind her, she started walking fastly.

That's when I noticed a truck speeding towards her. It was coming near her but she was busy crying. The truck didn't horn too.

The truck was few meters away from hitting her, she noticed it and her eyes widened while I pulled her by her wrist to the other side of the road.

We both fell on the footpath. She didn't get hurt as she was in my embrace. I too didn't get much hurt. She was still closing her eyes while holding my shirt tightly as if her life depends on it.

I called her," Miru". She slowly opened her eyes and met mine. It was shining with tears.

We quickly stood up when we realised our position. She looked down, murmured a small thank you and started walking.

I went in front of her and stopped her from walking further. I inhaled and told," Miru I need to talk to you, will you please come to my office for few minutes?"

She nodded her head negatively and said," please leave me Sid". Oh god her words are piercing my heart.

I said,"please Miru only once". She thought for few seconds and then agreed. I took her to my cabin and asked her to sit down. While I was about to speak, my phone ringed.

It was an unknown number. I excused myself and attended that call. On the other end, I heard a female voice. She said," Sir I'm Kriti, Mirunalini's friend. I called you to tell you something very important"

"Yes Kriti, tell me"

"Sir Mirunalni is truly in love with you. She's hiding it because of your status. She thinks that you should marry a girl whose equivalent to your status and not her. Please don't lose her"

I thanked her and cut the call.

What? Did she tell that she didn't like me for my status? How idiotic?

I went and sat on the couch opposite to hers. I asked calmly," Did you lie to me yesterday? Did you reject me because of my status?"

She looked down. I heard a sob escape her mouth. Her tears are affecting me so much but I can't let this chance go.

I said," answer me". This time my tone was a bit high.

She shouted "Yes" while crying.

"Yes, I love you to the core. I rejected you because I wanted you to marry a girl of your family status, wealth and beauty. I'm nowhere in comparison with you. I don't want to be a burden in your life. I want you to be happy in your life. Please forget me and move on Sid" she shouted. I've never seen her like this. Her eyes held sorrow and pain.

I went near her and told " Mirunalni, you think I can be happy in life without you. Love doesn't need status Miru. It only needs two pure hearts. I promise you I'll never make you feel inferior in any way. I love you truly Miru. Please don't leave me"

After few minutes, she looked directly into my eyes and asked," I don't have anyone. Will you be my everyone ?"

And I said yes. At last, she accepted that she loves me. My heart is about to leap out.

She too smiled with her teary eyes. I wanted to take everything slow, I dropped her at her hostel and came back to the office for an important work.

After few hours,

I attended the call in the first ring itself, it was my personal investigator.

"Sir, the lorry which came to hit ma'am wasn't an accident, it was planned"
